  1. An extra grab handle for the front passenger, while driving on harsh off roads.

  4. Yes. Both cars new from official importers. Don't understand your comment about "less than precise steering". Test drove it yesterday: Traction / acceleration looks familiar and slightly better than Yeti (Ibiza weights ~200 Kg less than Yeti). Also steering feels familiar but slightly lighter than Yeti's, perhaps because the lighter body. Anyway didn't notice steering issues. As the car will be new (45 days wait) I'm sure the DSG will have the correct hydraulic fluid.
  5. Although there might be an obvious answer, I would appreciate your opinions. Major points of interest: DSG vs Automatic. Is 4 airbags (front only) vs 6 (4 front + 2 curtains) an issue ? The car is for my daughter.
  6. 1. Take headrests apart from the backrests (as mentioned in owner's manual). 2. Carefully take the plastic bottom trim (1 in drawing 0104) using a plastic spatula (D.I.Y. for plaster works) - safer than a screwdriver as per instructions. Work on the 4 long tabs side. http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/fabia-mk2/body/body_work/seat_padding_covers/rear_seat_upholstery_and_covers/summary_of_components_of_cover_for_headrest/ 3. Carefully detach the upholstery plastic anchor edges from the retaining clips on the main plastic structure (2 in drawing 0104) and take apart the upholstery together with the foam padding. Don't take apart upholstery from foam padding as it might be difficult to put it back properly ! Interesting to know if others have broken retaining clips issue !
  7. YETI IS WHOLE AGAIN ! Long story comes to end : 13/04/2014 on the 2Y/30,000 Km service I have opened a service warranty claim about broken pieces in the head restraints. I was told and also written in the service brief that two new head restraints were ordered. 30/04/2014 I was called for replacing / collecting the "replaceable parts". Surprisingly there were no head restraints waiting for me. Just the bottom plastic caps / trims that close the restraints on the bottom side. There are no head restraints replacements as a whole assembly ! Parts must be ordered separately and changed, so the wrong part was ordered. It took a few days to convince the regional service about which part is broken and have to be ordered. 29/07/2014 I was called for replacing / collecting the new "replaceable parts". Once again surprisingly, this time 2 foam cushions were sent ! After having an argue with the regional service staff, they told me they will see what can be done, but Skoda will not cover a broken part issue, and be prepared to pay for new head restraints (they will think about how to order them as whole). Feeling I further have nothing to loose, I decided to take apart the upholstery / foam cushions from all 3 head restraints, in order to see how can I repair this. Shock horror ! All 3 head restraints have damaged plastic structures. The right one has all 4 pieces broken - so nothing to hold the metal frame to the plastic structure (2 missing pieces were forwarded to service staff at the first claim) ! After threating regional service staff about complaining at MOT as I see this as a serious safety issue, they promised to order the right 3 parts ! Note this is one serviceable part, made from 2 different pieces of metal and plastic, combined together by the manufacturer. 31/08/2014 Finally received the right parts and transfered the cushions / upholstery to the new frames. We all learned something today. Hope also Champion (Skoda importer in Israel).
  8. Isn't the middle seat you refer to ? It is fixed - unlike the left & right ones !
  9. Can't help with exact paint code, but used on mine a metallic silver permanent marker. Color not perfectly matching but it does the work for me. Completely covered the black bumper's plastic. Don't remember seeing yellow plastic, as mine was deeply scratched. I assume it may be a base / bonder paint coat for the silver layer. Forgot about it until now - coming upon this thread.
  10. Somewhere there is a shovel hiding ! Where is it ?
  11. Thinking about starting a "Yeti Curiosities" thread. No Promotional Intention - posted just for fun
  12. Thanks, anyway found it yesterday. Wasn't on that site for a long time - not thinking about a new Skoda for the moment.
  13. Ooops... Didn't know about it ! Ashdod seems to be a different planet ! Useful to be a Briskoda forum member ! Any link to club site ?
  14. While taking the lens off the body - should the diaphragm remain open or close ? I notice mine remains closed and I suspect something is wrong with the lens. As I have only a 18-200 VR I don't take it off the body, so I don't remember how it should be ! Thanks in advance R.G.
  15. After buying a new set of wipers two months ago (OEM from VAG service - cheaper than Chinese brand at Auto Depot !) I could observe that changing only the rubber blades it's a relative easy job. It's matter of carefully taking apart the end cap of the wiper. According to above link, rubber blades are indeed available at reasonable prices. Note there are also changing instructions.
  16. Hope you don't enter the (relatively small) club. Myself decided not to mess with "super glue". You may look at these posts: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/197909-roof-rail-trim/#entry2779611 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/197909-roof-rail-trim/page-2#entry2796322 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/197909-roof-rail-trim/page-2#entry2801681
  17. Driving a 6 gears car after having 3 cars with 5 gears, I can tell that I deliberately skip the 4th gear while accelerating where traffic allows, and shift directly from 3rd to 5th ! IMO the 4th looks to have a relative narrow range. Also, I often find the need of down shifting from 6th to 5th while cruising around 90-100 Kmh, in order to regain brief power when needed.
  18. Same question again, with just a slight change: "2012 Ambition". Or in other words: Are all Yetis fitted with the electrical preparation for the auto dimming mirror or is the roof harness model / trim specific, depending on equipment ? Does someone know here ? One can pry open the two halves of the mirror pedestal cover (models with rain / light sensor) in order to find if there is a free connector inside. Tried myself but was afraid to break the cover so abandoned this test. As I also wanted to fit an auto mirror, I was told at the service garage that models without auto mirror have no electrical preparation, so it is a major electrical change if possible at all. The mirror itself fits only on rain / light sensor mounting plate. If the mirror operates on 12 V, it might be an easy job, as power exist just a few inches away, for the interior light. Just it wouldn't have the feature that turns it to normal when engaging reverse gear, as mentioned in the manual referring to factory fitted models.
  19. Accidentally came across this. Enjoy: http://youtu.be/rrFRaviVyQU Happy New Year !
  20. 1. Maybe that's one of the main reasons of redesigned front lights on the FL Yeti. 2. Going slightly off-topic, another "weird" VAG function having implications on driving safety: With windscreen wipers on speed 1 or 2 (not intermittent), while stopping the car, they automatically switch to intermittent position, until car starts moving again. A few days ago, driving on heavy rain, I had to stop for a pedestrian crossing the street. Because the intermittent interval was set at the longest one (first pos. at the left of 4 positions on the toggle), I was surprisingly left without proper visibility prior deciding to start moving again, at least until the next wiper stroke ! IMO this can lead to dangerous circumstances. (TBH I don't know how rain sensor activated wipers behave. Mine - Ambition trim - is fitted only with light sensor)
  21. Congrats for that ! Neither me like car calendars, but participated last year mainly because of the photographic challenge (maybe you as well), and was pleased being a runner up for April 2013
  22. I guess they refer to the maximum recommended pressure indicated in the "inflation pressure table". It makes sense to me - after all it has to replace a correct inflated wheel so it has to be at least the same pressure. I'm sure they take in consideration the "engineering approximation" educatedly explained above by you.
  23. As per p.209 eng. pdf manual: "The inflation pressure for this spare wheel is identical to the maximum inflation pressure of the standard tyres"
  24. Wait until you see the cabriolet concept version - real cute, also love the color, pity it wasn't an option for the production line (there is a metallic orange for the "greenline"). http://www.netcarshow.com/skoda/2005-yeti_2_concept/
