  1. 2004 (54) Mk1 Octavia vRS Hatch, 83k - £2500 (Unmodified) After 9 years of ownership, the time has finally come for me to sell my Octavia. The car is 99% standard and has never had any performance or body work mods. Specs are as follows: • Mk 1 Skoda Octavia vRS Hatch in Diamond Silver • 2004, 54 plate (First registered December 2004) • 83 000 miles • Full service history • MOT until December 2015 • Factory fitted rear parking sensors • Factory fitted cruise control • OEM vRS floor mats • OEM boot luggage net • Full sized spare wheel with Spider alloy and original tyre (Only used a couple of times) • Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas all round in 225/45/17 • Both keys present • 1 previous owner (Skoda UK) • HPI Clear Only modifications, if you can even class them as mods, are as follows: • Alpine CDA-9853R Stereo (Original Skoda stereo to be included, original cd changer still fitted in boot) • Parrot CK3000 Evolution Bluetooth hands free kit • OEM VW Golf mk4 aero wipers arms (Briskoda Group Buy) with Bosch blades I bought the car when it was 13 months old from a Skoda Dealer with 7400 miles on the clock. Skoda UK is the first owner in the log book and I’m the 2nd. The car’s been my daily driver ever since. Currently has just over 83 000 miles on the clock and will go up slightly until it’s sold as I’m still using it. Car has always been filled up with super-unleaded and almost always Optimax/V-Power. Servicing-wise, the car is now on fixed servicing intervals having been on variable for a number of years. First 2 services done by Skoda, but since the warranty ended all work has been carried out by a local VW/Audi specialist. All receipts available. Never failed an MOT. Next MOT due in December 2015. Cambelt and water pump was last done December 2012, meaning next one isn’t due until December 2016. Next service due August 2015. Other than usual servicing, very little has gone wrong with the car. Most notable and worth mentioning was an unusual gearbox failure in 2013 which resulted in a new gearbox and clutch. All work carried out by the specialist mentioned above and has been 100% since the replacement. Other than that, the car has been extremely reliable! All servicing carried out on time and regular and any extra work needed has been done straight away when required. Receipts for all work available. I fitted the Alpine MP3/CD headunit when I bought the car along with Parrot Ck3000 Hands-free kit and will be leaving these in the car. I still have the original stereo which will go with the car too. Speakers are as standard. The bracket for phone cradle in the photos is a Brodit so easily removable. Phone cradle will be removed. The car, in my opinion, is in excellent condition considering its age and mileage. Mileage of which is below the average for a 10 year old car. The interior has been well maintained and other than the white carpets looking a bit grubby in some areas, is in great condition. Externally the bodywork has no dents anywhere, only a few marks mostly left by inconsiderate parkers, although nothing major. On the subject on inconsiderate people, there is a small chip on the rear spoiler and a crack in the offside mirror casing. Small things that I never got round to sorting. All 4 wheels are slightly kerbed, so could do with refurbishing if you want them back to tip top condition. The spare alloy is immaculate as it has only been used a couple of times when I’ve had a puncture. The car currently has Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas all round. Changed them to the more popular 225/45/17 size. The car has been very well looked after throughout the years and I’ve always struggled to justify getting rid of it. Engine still feels as great as it was when I bought it and there are barely any rattles or noises from the interior which is great for its age. It’s time for a change now, so here it is up for sale. Car is located in Tonbridge TN9 and will also be advertised elsewhere too. PM for contact details if you’re interested. Looking for £2500 Thanks for looking!
  2. How annoying, went to edit my original post and have appeared to have overwritten most of it. Tapatalk playing silly buggers or something. I had a similar issue with mine, but the indicators flashed like normal, it was only the relay that went mad. A few squirts of electrical contact cleaner behind the indicator stalk solved the issue. Could be a related issue maybe?
  3. As a South African now living in the UK, I can tell you strikes in SA aren't always a peaceful picket line like they are here! Those miners were armed with sticks, spears, machetes and definitely a number would have had firearms too. The press aren't always known for telling all the facts, but I doubt the police would have opened fire like they did without coming under attack themselves. I did read somewhere one of the guns recovered from the dead was the police issued handgun of an officer murdered earlier that week, whether this is true or not I don't know, but the press haven't mentioned this in a while. Whatever happened, the police were faced with a very volatile situation and the outcome was very sad. :-( Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  4. Unfortunately like most iOS vs Android threads (on most forums I should add), the sensible balanced views eventually get drowned out by fanboys from both camps expressing their dying love for their favourite and no valid explanation for their hatred of the other! Oh well, can't see that changing anytime soon, so I'm outta here! :-) Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  5. No, there does tend to be more free apps available on Google Play. My comment was more regarding popular apps are being made available for both platforms almost straight away whereas a couple of years ago this wasn't the case. ETA as mentioned before, I am an iOS and Android user so frequent both stores regularly, that's what I'm basing my comment on.
  6. Yes it does... If you look at the charts in both the Apple's App Store and Google's Play store, you'll often find the same apps featuring. Of course, Android has some Apple don't and vice versa. It's lot more even now than it used to be.
  7. I've tried to keep things simple at home. I use Microsoft's SyncToy to make a one way sync to mirror all my files to my external drive. This is scheduled this to run automatically every night. After the first sync, it doesn't take long. As an extra precaution, I also use CrashPlan+ to back up around 220GBs of my data remotely. This is mainly photos which I would hate to lose if the worst was to happen to my computer and external drive. It can also be used to backup to a local disk, or another computer. You could even use CrashPlan just to back up to your external drive if you wish. This will encrypt your data too, and it will backup each version of the files you're backing up, so you can restore back to a particular time. http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=15155 http://www.crashplan.com/
  8. To be honest I noticed an equal number of Galaxy Notes and S3s being used too. +1 Lol! My sister in law and her fiance have had their iPhones replaced by Apple so many times I've lost count. I'm sure the same can be said for any mass produced product, the S3 included. My S3 and previous Android phones have been perfect, with no issues so far. I personally ditched my iPhone years ago and moved to Android and have never looked back, a number of friends have done the same. What works for some doesn't for others. I also own a 1st gen iPad, so I don't think I can be accused of being a fanboy, however when time comes to replace it, I don't think it will be another iOS tablet. To go back to the OP, the S3 is the superior phone over the 4S, but so it should be, it's almost a year newer. The real comparison should be the S3 against the new iPhone. Whether you're an Android or iOS person is another question.
  9. I have also just ordered one of these Kingston drives from Dabs. It may not be a "performance" SSD, but it isn't marketed as such. Compared to your traditional mechanical drive, should still offer a good enough gain in performance. The early V200s were plagued with performance issues, however this has recently been resolved by a firmware update, so it's worth checking the firmware version before you install your OS and update if necessary. http://www.kingston.com/us/support/technical/downloads?product=SV200S3&filename=SV200S3_64G_128G_e120506a The one review I've read post firmware update was very positive and claims all previous issues appear to be resolved.
