  1. I have driven a audi a3 2.0TDi 140 on many occasions, also the leon 2.0 TDi 140. Both used to give a low of 36mpg and a high of 51mpg and both were quick. Im sure the Octy vRS 170 will be a lil quicker too. But I just cant see it being as quick or as exciting to drive as my old Octy vRS mk1. I would be very suprised if it was as fast. However the TDi is not far off and cheaper on tax, and cheaper to run. I'd prob go for the TDi if i was buying another one
  2. Thats what i was thinking too. The current bumber just about doesn't rub on the pavements etc at my local asda when im parking. The splitter would just get ripped off imo..... well it would if i was driving anyway :P
  3. Ah right, thats interesting. ive only ever driven the 225 Cupra R. Would of assumed there would of been a noticable amount of performance difference between the two, but obvioulsy not
  4. I use autoglym interior cleaner on mine. seems to work for me, its really good stuff. I also had mine superguarded (u can buy the stuff on the web if u look, thats what i did) and that seems to of really helped too.
  5. I have worked for Seat, and driven a few Cupra's and Cupra R's. In my opinion the vRS feels slightly quicker than the standard cupra and has a nicer looking interior. But the Cupra R as mentioned is a fair bit quicker when the turbo is on full song. My mate has a cupra R 225 and it does feel much stronger in the power delivery once fully wound up. Its worth noting that for those of you who have said u have had encounters with a cupra R that it could of been a 210bhp. The 225's didnt come out untill 2003. Obviously the vRS will compete more easily with the 210 and will be more evenly matched
  6. My mot is due on the octy in a few months. I've got a Blue flame full system with no cat (obviously my engine mgt light is always on grrr... ) Will the de-cat result in a failed emissions test? Some people say yes, others just say turn off the air con, with a warm engine and it will still pass (just). Which is true?...... and if it fails how much money is a 100 CEL BF sports CAT? Thanks
  7. Very nice mate, and very shiney! What polish do you use?
  8. Ya i quite like the green calipers. Makes the vRS stand out a bit compared to the others. Hope they dont change them. Get the poll goin.......
  9. I work for seat, and the trade price would actually be about £4,900 with 70k on the clock. Glasses guide is £5,375 with 48k on the clock. Would get £6,500 as a private sale tho. A dealer may give £5,800 in p/x, taking profit of the car you are looking to buy.....i.e Getting 4.9k for your car, and taking £900 off the price of the car you are buying and putting on top of the p/x price to make 5.8k dave.
  10. I hjave mine re-mapped with blue flame and induction kit, I only seem to get between 21-29 mpg, and 32-34mpg if i take it very easy
  11. parkers guide is rubbish mate tbh, not many people use that in the motor trade as it can be very unaccurate. Glass' guide and CAP give the realistic value for a trade in. 11.5K does seem at lil low though, should get 12k tbh
  12. Got to agree GAFF, your car looks mint mate, and love that colour too. Bet ur smiling constantly atm lol
  13. thread about this elsewhere. http://www.briskoda.com/forums/showthread.php?p=563958&posted=1#post563958 As stated the cars most prob are an import from ireland. But still great value for the money. If i was in the market for a new one id buy one from there
  14. I used to work for motorpoint, and the car's price is for real, really great value! althought OTR road costs such as preparation, plates etc.. expect it to rise by £20-£50. 60% of the new cars sold are imports via france/malta/spain/ireland etc. The standard spec may differ slightly if the VRS is an import, but the person over the phone should be able to tell you the full spec of the car and whether its an import or not. No cons or catches at motorpoint either, good company and really good value. Plus it could be a UK car for all we know I know a few good genuine guys that work there too, so I can put anybody who wants one in touch with a good decent sales person at the Burnley site.
  15. The ford fiesta ST is a cracking car, imo it looks great, and although i wouldnt buy one with the stripes, I even think the stripes look good! I also think that fords build quality over the past 4 years has been very good. Im sure you will enjoy the ST, I considered buying one when they first came out and can see why you would want one. Nice big wheels, great sports seats, and sound good too even as standard. They really look the part imo. Enjoy the car when you get it!
  16. Ya getting rid of your old car can be traumatic as i experienced with a customer on Friday. He was part exchanging his TVR Chimaera 4.0 V8 1999 T for a brand new Seat Leon Sport. When he signed the order form, he started crying uncontrollably, i didn't now what to do! First time I have had a customer cry at my desk lol But Your next Octy vRS is in a lovely colour mate, that blue looks ace. Im sure you will be overjoyed in your new car
  17. I have driven the ibiza FR TDi 130 (standard) had it as a company car for 2 months, and it was mighty quick and a fun car to drive. But my octy vRS is lots more fun and quicker imo. Its nice being able to rev a car over 5000 revs again after being used to diesels for the past 3 years. But i wouldn't know how quicker or how much more fun a chipped furby/Ibiza FR would be so i cant say. I'd go for the octy if it was me, but its down to personal taste at the end of the day. Go for a test drive and see.
  18. Ya sounds like the air mass meter to me, or a split in the pipe pehaps
  19. Audi, VW, and Seat are all going to be using the 168 bhp TDi engine, so its obvious Skoda will eventully follow suit, if not strait away.
  20. Not sure about skoda. But the 170 TDi engine will be out in the SEAT Altea FR in the spring, and in the Leon FR in november-december time. Shouldn't be too long now i think before skoda have it
  21. Front bumper looks good in the What car? advertisement. Shows it from the front in racing blue. Looks great. It won best hot hatch 2006 i read today too
