I just bought a 2019 Karoq SEL SE L 1.5 TSI, 40,000 miles. Full main dealer service history, excellent condition. Test drove beautifully, although didn't get to take it up to 70, I did some hard accelerations up to 65 or so and was very impressed with one of my first experiences of driving an automatic.
I picked up today drove it 15 miles or so to a dual carriage way and I put my foot down for more power at about 45ph, it felt like a gear wasn't engaged and it red lined super easily, eased off tried to apply power again but redlined again. I pulled over, restarted convinced myself that maybe it was just me not being used to an automatic. Over the next 10 minutes it did this twice more and I became convinced something was wrong so drove very slowly back to the dealership.
Dealer was I believe genuinely concerned seems like a very nice guy. We took it for a quick test drive together (on slower roads) and couldn't re-experience the problem despite some quick hard accelerations. He suggested whether it could have been I accidentally nudged it into manual with a paddle (I didn't know they were there actually but I really don't think so) or whether I was just experiencing the kick down in gears that happens with hard acceleration. With the kick down I'm less sure, I don't think so, I think it felt different, it redlined so easily, but I have almost no experience with an automatic so can't be totally sure. He said he would get it tested first thing on Monday morning and get back to me (car purchased with his own warranty).
Anyway just thought I'd ask for any thoughts here from anyone more experienced with dsg gearbox. Sound like an issue?
