  1. That sounds reasonable- happy to go for it then for £322. Can do bank transfer or Paypal if you promise not to rob me:)
  2. Ooo could be driving past Swindon on the A417 on the afternoon of the 18th - what time are you around? Otherwise what sort of postage do you think it would be?
  3. Ah rats- just seen from your profile that you are Lincoln way.
  4. Hi there, I may be interested in both depending on where you are? I am in Gloucestershire travelling to London weekly, Cheers, JB
  5. I am pretty sure there is an issue on some of these systems - my sound used to be pretty good then one day I had a click through the speakers and since then only get negligible sound through rear door speakers (not just weedy, pretty much nothing). Sound was definitely 8 out of 10 before this and is now a 4 out of 10 so a significant difference.
  6. Mine didn't until I took it into the garage to have the coin holder replaced.... now it vibrates merrily!
  7. Hi there, I too have a ed100. What warranty work have you had done? just so I know what to look out for. Regarding some of your comments... I agree that there are a few more sqeaks and creaks than on other superbs (probably due to the limited numbers made meaning they were less practiced and putting the "custom interior in). On the suspension side.... I too am convinced that my suspension is slightly lower than on other superbs although I haven't compared directly. My main complaints at the moment are: i) a very slight grinding on the breaks.... it is not totally smooth like other new cars I have driven ii.) when the car is first started as you lift the clutch there is a slight scrapping sound as it engages(worrying) iii.) the seat belt mounts in the car are very noisy (squeaks again... tedious) iv.) there is a very slight metallic noise as you accelerate.... could well be part of the turbo or just a feature of the engine as I haven't driven a tdi before If anyone could shed any light on any of these faults (or is it just part of the car)~I would be very grateful cheers, Jim
  8. No worries, its on ebay as we speak, Cheers, Jim
  9. With a 2nd or 3rd gen ipod so far as I know, you won't be able to get the ipod information on screen (other than track number) some claim to (e.g. dension stuff, but when I called they said it would not work with the sat nav HU) Anyway if you are interested I'm selling mine this week on ebay otherwise I'd be happy with ~ £90 includign postage (I bought it for £110inc postage) Cheers, Jim
  10. Hi there, there is a VW part that connects an ipod to the sat nav. None of the ipod connector cables will output to the nav screen.... basically the ipod is treated exactly the same as a CD changer and uses that screen (it calls the ipod CD6 I think. ) If you want ipod song information on the screen you need a video input cable on the head unit (£70-100...it allows the HU to accept video signals from component inputs) and you could outcput through the ipod's video cable into it. What version of ipod do you have? I have an ipod VAG connector I'm going to sell... I bought it off ebay and never got around to installing it! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1498&item=5860576792 This is a generation 1-4 cable (everything upto and including the IPOD Photo) hope this helps... Cheers, Jim
  11. Hi guys, my front seat belts creak at the mechanism on the pillar right next to my ear and it really iritates me.... is there a quick fix (silicon lube?) or is it to the dealer under warranty.... it really is quite loud. Cheers, Jim
  12. I've been playing with the dsp options for a while today and I wouldn't make much effort to fit one after market... music does sound pretty good through the "rock" setting but if you are listening to radio, the dj's sound like they are in a cathedral as lw said. That said I am assuming that the standard sound (i.e. dsp menu set to "linear") is the same as the sound from a head unit with no DSP. Cheers, Jim
  13. I have looked at my HU and it has the pock rock jazz etc... thanks for the info.... now to find a few more hidden extras:)
  14. Oo marvelous, should I have DSP options on my head unit then? I'll have an investigate.. Cheers for the info, JB
  15. Just a quickie, on my superb ed100 there is an metal box attached to the underside of the parcel shelf (on the righthand side when opening the boot). Is it the amplifier for the HU (in which case can it be replaced) or a DSP unit or anything else for that matter? Cheers, JB
  16. Tdi130 Ed100 55plate Driveway 3pts SP30 20k pa Fully comp + business use 6yrs ncd (protected) 27years old Swansea £325 Directline (although they were a pain in the **** as they tried not to let me transfer my NCD!)
  17. I'm not going to be too helpful as I haven't done it, but from speaking to a taxi driver recently he said it was quite tricky to do but you can do it yourself. Apparently the "proper way" to get to them is to remove the bumper (as there are brackets on the bottom of the lights) but you can do it with without removing the bumper. This could all be lies, but it was what I was told by my trusty superb taxi driver! I think the bulb cost is about a tenner (or possibly less) but to get it fitted at skoda would be considerably more! Cheers, Jim B
  18. Cheers for the info, I'm now thinking of drawing straight from the 12Volt feed to the stereo (red wire) do you think this would draw too much current (i.e. running mfd and ps2 slim from same 12V wire)? Cheers, Jim
  19. Hi there, I would like to wire in my PS2 car adapter directly into the car wiring (without using the lighter socket). Is it just a matter of cutting the cable (on the lighter side of the power adapter) and wiring direclty to the 12V and earth or are there other gubbins involved in the lighter socket? Cheers, Jim
  20. Does this not work to code the key? greg2302 Offline: Briskodian my Skoda Join Date: May 2003 Location: West Lothian Posts: 882 Remote Key Re-coding -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, One of the remote keys ("flick-style") on my Octy vRS stopped working a while ago and my dealer ordered me a new one. As my dealer is miles away from home and work they sent it out in the post and talked me through the re-coding procedure on the 'phone. This has appeared elsewhere in the forums but the procedure listed was a little vague. Having just done it successfully two minutes ago I thought I'd pass the correct procedure on - maybe this could go in the FAQ ? Put your working key in the ignition and turn the ignition on (but not the engine). Put your non-working (new) key in the drivers door, turn and hold the key in the lock position (anti-clockwise) and press and hold the lock button for two seconds. Then turn and hold the key in the unlock position (clockwise) and hold the unlock button for two seconds. Turn the ignition off and take the key out. Job Done ! Cheers, Jim B
  21. Re the little toothed cog, that just damps the opening so it feels more quality... apparently the catch is integrated into the opening and closing system. Kentish, does running the wire up the windscreen pillar not effect the air bag that claims to be there... or is that just a badge? Cheers, JB
  22. Bugger, got brave and started looking pulling bits off... the veneer bits (black on mine) come off really easily which is a pleasant suprise (thanks for the tip guys). I then decided to take the armrest to pieces... I removed the velour interior of it no prob, and was just poking around to try and get to the cup holders when I knocked something and now the little tray at the front of the armrest won't stay closed:mad: I'm not incompetant but I can't for the life of me see the mechanism that catches it shut... I guess it must have fallen off through my oafing:( Anyway... after all that I still couldn't get the sodding cup holder out (looked from both the gear stick and armrest side... I guess it is screwed on from underneath and you have to remove the whole handbreak surround!! Oh well I'll get there! The three things I intend to get done are... Ipod dock in the cup holder (proving to be a pain), playstation 2 in the glove box (that should be easy enough.. I have all the bits), and install a car kit (everything fine apart from where and how to wire the microphone up) Cheers, JB
  23. Hi guys, thanks for all the info... I'll get a passat haynes manual and have a play. "installing my car kit was very easy and that's a similar process." - I've been looking at installing my ericsson HBH30 but was unsure of where to wire the microphone up to as there are airbags everywhere! "As for running the wire the surround (wood or plastic) can easily be prised up and the cable run under it as long as it is not too thick." do you mean the part surrounding the handbreak/gearstick area or the fascia around the radio?... what is the clipping mechanism... is there any danger of me breaking it by prising it up? Many thanks, Jim B
  24. Hi guys, I'm looking at installing an ipod in the cupholder next to the handbrake (laying flat with foam inlay and cabled to head unit). I have a few questions that I would be grateful if you could give me some pointers on: 1.) Is there a haynes manual or equivalent for the superb... if not is the 2004ish passat manual good enough (I know the chassis and engine are similar but is the interior) 2.) The cup holder appears to be a separate component to the rest of the handbreak area, how easy is it to remove? 3.) Are/were there any alternative shapes for this holder released that I could order (a simple rectangle would be easiest) 4.) How difficult will it be to run a cable to the HU under the center console/handbreak area (from said cup holder) Cheers, Jim B
  25. I've just got to 2000miles in mine, and very chuffed.... my only gripe is that the tinted rear window means that the autodimming rearview mirror doesn't need to activate. Ah small things.... Does anyone have the mini fridge option that goes in the armrest access to the boot... seems very cool (no pun intended) to me. Cheers, JB
