  1. This sometimes happens without any logic. We had one case of 11 vRS refuse to accept Revo recently.
  2. I think that DSG senses not torque itself but the slippage and temperature. Therefore it is worth considering some other clutch disks.
  3. If the coolant disappears without any trace it is likely that it goes into cylinders. I had this issue on 2.5 Subaru STI engine. The problem could not be diagnosed under normal procedures, but as time passed it grew worse and finally lead to head gaskets replacement. The way it might work is: There is a tiny crack in the head gasket which allows the coolant to go into cylinders when the car is cold, and allows the exhaust gases to escape into cooling system when the car is driven hard. The process is very slow at the starting stage. But eventually the level drops to minimum level and stays there. I cannot say that this is exactly your case, but coolant liquid is a physical matter and cannot dissappear without any trace (unless stolen). One of the ways to diagnose this problem is to run a test to check if there are any exaust gas traces in coolant liquid (it is easily done by most garages) Run this test after a bit of hard driving with turbos at high use. Just revving a standing car won't do. The result of the test will clearly give you ways to fix it.
  4. To my understanding of how things work, using 95 or 98 fuel cannot effect oil consumption, it can effect performance and fuel consumption.
  5. I have spoken to mechanic who was repairing 1.4 TSI 180 hp engine under warranty due to high oil consumption. After he got the pistons out his findings were that the oil rings on pistons were stuck and did not perform at all (vRS was having 800+ grams per 1000 km). VW sends in a set of new piston rings (all of them), which should lead to normal operation and oil consumption. I guess that in some cases our cars may have oil rings stuck in all cylinders and this will lead to high oil consumption or in some of the cylinders leading to average oil consumption. Revised rings are definitely ok as to VW claim. This defect may come and go all by itself until the rings are replaced, because oil rings can be stuck in different ways.
  6. If you wish to crawl in traffic where DSG gives some challenge shifting 1-2-1-2-1-2. You can do the following. If you have shift paddles: just when the car starts to go in D when the speed is 5-7 km/h just press the "-" paddle, DSG will shift into manual 1 at this point and you can crawl as long as you wish, you can continue by shifting with paddles if traffic gets lighter or hold "+" paddle it will return DSG mode to D. Thats good for traffic when you only need to cover a short distance slowly. Eventually DSG will return into D mode automatically, but the time before it does this is unpredictable. If you don't have paddles, then I guess you can just move the shift lever to manual once the car starts to go and replicate the above, but return to D mode will also be manual. There is a definite need in setting up DSG school I guess ))
  7. Hi, I am an owner of 2011 Fabia RS Revo 1 Very interesting to read your forums in terms of how you use your Fabias, specially vRS ones. We have different road conditions there. However the majority of problems are the same (oil consumption, DSG (we have a few total failures), CEL flashing at high revs). The majority of us resides here, there is quite a lot of pictures http://www.drive2.ru...skoda/fabia_rs/ Will be happy to share knowledge on Fabia vRS as we have some handymen owners and VAG compatible software to change settings of the car. Victor
  8. Hi, If you wish to replicate the way you would normally use handbrake on a car without Hill assist, then do the following. - While standing keep the brake pedal pressed firmly to ensure that dsg disconnects everything - When starting, just release the brake pedal and wait (0.5-1 seconds) until the car starts to feel as it will roll down, start pressing on the accelerator, the hill holder will release automatically as if you would be releasing hand brake.
