  1. Ravenol has VW approvals, it's made in Germany and the German bottles also have fully synthetic wording on the bottles and they do have to be 100% fully synthetic base oils in Germany or oil manufacturers cannot advertise it as a true fully synthetic. This is the VMP which is approved for VW 504 & VW 507 requirements.
  2. Feels much better under braking as well. The console bushes were absolutely knackered but no mention of them on the last MOT in February, he said there's no way they've deteriorated from a pass to the current state in two months. The solid Ibiza Cupra bushes have made a difference to the front end feel but I guess even new standard ones would've as well as the old ones were well past it.
  3. Got some Fulda sport control, they get some good reviews and i've had them before, I find them hard to beat for the price, £54 each from Camskill. It hasn't completely transformed the handling but is noticeably sharper with less vagueness on the front end with the solid bushes and different tyres.
  4. 4 matching 205/45 R16 83Y Uniroyal RS 3 tyres, Covered about 1500 miles with approx 6mm of tread left, no damage or repairs, no uneven wear. £130 for the set, collection from West Cumbria or you can arrange a courier to collect them.
  5. Needed new console bushes so replaced them for the solid type, also changed all 4 tyres which has helped with the steering feel.
  6. Millers isn't an approved oil but it's very good stuff. You using the the 5w40 longlife nanodrive 505.01?
  7. The pipe from the turbo to the IC, came loose at the turbo end but wasn't fully off. Not long since it had a new turbo fitted so it's possible it wasn't connected back properly. Old pipe put back in until the new one arrives, £110 fitted. Took the car on a spirited drive after collecting it and the pipe didn't come off again *touch wood*, it may be OK now but I'd rather have a new pipe on for piece of mind.
  8. A pipe had blown off the turbo and snapped a lug so a new pipe has been ordered, I just hope this won't be a recurring problem.
  9. Tailpipe was nearly spotless before the first drive after the remap and when I got back it had a layer of soot coating it, rubbed a finger over the pipe and it was think black. Hope it's just to do with the boost leak, if not will have a crack with Ben.
  10. Is the over fuelling anything to worry about? Heard of bore wash which can cause problems? If not then I can live with the dirty back end
  11. Never had a remap before, should have done more research. My last vRS had a DTUK PD box and hardly produced any more soot. Me too, will see what the damage is tomorrow!
  12. Do remaps create a bit more soot? Going into garage tomorrow morning, hopefully an easy fix but needs sorted so it won't happen again if a pipe has blown off, if it's split then must have been a weakness.
  13. Would a boost leak create more soot? My clean tailpipe was pretty black after the 30 minute drive, the last 10 minutes were me getting home after the problems started.
  14. Had the Fabia remapped today using an STS from Shark, the car drove fantastic for the first 20 mins but then started to really stutter below 2k rpm, even more than the common BLT stutter. Then about 10 mins later it wasn't boosting properly with reduced power and also as the turbo spools up there's a loud hissing coming from the engine. If a pipe had blown off completely would it have no power at all? Thinking maybe a boost pipe is loose or split, not had time to look at all the pipes but the top ones look ok, need to get underneath and have a look at the others.
  15. Lost a fair bit of oil somewhere, if its not on the dipstick then at least a litre. As sepulchrave said above check the oil feed pipe as they can sometimes get damaged when fitting a new turbo, could have ruptured and that's the oil you can see, if it's come loose then it wasn't connected up properly. My Fab had it's turbo replaced 3 weeks ago and I was strongly advised to have the oil feed and return pipes replaced, also had oil & filter changed as well.
  16. This SMF kit fits the 6 speed gear box but it doesn't say what torque the disc is rated to. http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/valeo-1-9-tdi-6-speed-02m-single-mass-flywheel-and-clutch-kit-smf.html Or a more expensive SMF race kit rated to 400lb/ft+ http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-billet-single-mass-flywheel-smf-clutch-kit-for-vw-02m-6-speed.html
  17. I didn't get the extra load RS3's so the side walls are a bit softer, would that make much difference? More noticeable when doing fast direction changes.
  18. And the OEM console bushes will be even more terrible when worn out and knackered. Assuming my ARB hasn't snapped or fallen off and I didn't notice, I'll be checking the bushes.
  19. Tyres are new, Uniroyal RS 3 and the pressures are fine as I check them weekly. Will have a look at the anti roll bar and the console bushes, it's not long since had a service & MOT so if they were shot surely they would have flagged it up?
  20. Car feels loose/wallows when making quick steering adjustments, like the chassis is playing catch up when you turn the wheel. Weaving the steering side to side and the best way to describe it is like it's on ice and the car isn't doing what you want it to, had to brake hard from 70mph and it felt unstable... I know the vRS will never win any awards for it's handling capabilities! Mines done 122k so the suspension components will be past their best but is there any particular part of the suspension set up that would cause it wallow around? Worn bushes maybe? I'm thinking anti roll bar bushes or the rear axle...
  21. Thanks, will get it to the garage next week for a fault scan and see if anything comes up.
