  1. Hi all Just after a little technical help if I may! From looking at other forums it seems I've been very unlucky and my ecu failed requiring a new (and expensive!) new unit. Thisbhas now been fitted and all seems well with he exception of the cruise control which now doesn't seem to work. I guess something's been 'forgotten' when the new ecu was installed, but anyone got any ideas as to what? Thanks
  2. Hi guys, thanks for your replies. To be honest Ray I'd rather be charged more and have the correct grade put in, than be charged less and have the incorrect stuff in, as am aware that the dpf could potentially clog much quicker with the wrong oil. Nice of them to 'assume' you wanted the extra 1 litre! Huskoda - probably agree with needing to find a good independent, although the £299 did include oil, air, pollen and fuel filters as well as £3.44 + vat! of screen wash! I'm a bit miffed as, as per my original post I assumed that the £299 would also include the brake fluid change, especially as just had a look at my cambelt invoice from last month and on the technicians notes they even mentioned that the brake fluid was due to be changed.
  3. Hi all My 58 reg superb tdi 170 cr has come back from being serviced today from a skoda approved garage and have a couple of queries regarding the service that I'm hoping someone could help with. The cars done 39k and is just over 4 years old. I was quoted (and paid) £299 for this full inspection service (cambelt was done separately last month) which I assumed would include the brake fluid change however, this has not been done despite it last being done two years ago, so think I'm correct in assuming it was due? Also, on the invoice they've put the they've used 'PD Oil 5w/40' which I'm not sure is correct? I thought only 5w/30 oil should be used on cr engines with a dpf but no expert so again would appreciate anyone's better knowledge. Car is on time/date service intervals rather than long life. Was £299 about right for this service? Thanks guys
  4. Hi llama farmer. Try this: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/189618-rsap-bluetooth-to-handsfree-sucess/
  5. Thanks for the welcome and your replies. Don't think I'm gonna get much further, so have seen another forum post where it's possible to replace the module under the seat to give more than just rsap. Just didn't want to spen another.£120 if I could avoid it. Thanks for posting though.
  6. Hi all 1. Had a '92 lada samara. Did 100k without a cambelt change and DIY servicing. Only got rid of cos clutch (gradually) went. Awful car, but 100% reliable. Think I nearly got 60 in second gear once. Amazed it never went pop! 2. 1991 Clio 16v. Amazing handling and very rapid, but shocking reliability. Needed new clutch, immobiliser intermittently failed, leaked oil like a colander, overheated, generally crap, but loved it. 3. 1996 Astra 1.6 16v gls ecotec 5 dr in metallic maroon (what was I thinking!) Officially the worlds most boring car, but never let me down once in 60k miles. Think it ws serviced once! 4. 2004 Renaultsport Clio 182. Bought brand new. Crap plastics. Only had it a year, but always reliable. Gutted that I had to sell due to having a baby. 5. 2003 Vw passat tdi 130 se. Never missed a beat in 40k, but rip off servicing at main dealer. 6. 2006 octavia vrs tfsi. Fmdsh, always used super unleaded, maintained regardless of cost, never one penny skimped on it. Inlet camshaft snapped at 44k, trashed engine and my wallet. £3000 to fix! Ouch. 7. 51 reg Subara forester awd 2.0 auto. Excellent ride and handling but independent dealer tucked me up as had chronic piston slap. Sounded like a bucket of spanners in a cement mixer when cold, made Oliver Reid look parsimonious, but never even looked like putting a foot wrong in 30k ( serviced once). 101% reliable. 8. 2003 Volvo s60 d5 se auto. Felt like it weighed more than the moon, and had suspension made out of scaffolding poles. Best car in world if you lived immediately on a motorway, but cramped in back and only 33mpg in normal use. Only had for 11k (96k-107k) and always solid, but could sense turbo, suspension, gearbox, and steering were needing attention. 9. 58 reg superb 170 cr se. To date, the bestnall round car ive ever owned. No issues, amazing comfort , equipment, ride. Motorway stability unbelievable. Kids love it. Always depends on whether you're lucky or unlucky. Overall, let's not forget just how reliable almost all modern day cars are comparison with even10-15 years go!
  7. Hi All I'm new to Briskoda, so hello to everyone. I've seen that the topic I'm going to post has been covered a few times before, but can't seem to find an exact answer, so here goes.....!! I've recently bought a 58 reg Skoda Superb II SE Manual and overall, best car I've ever owned (previously had a 2006 Octavia Vrs petrol, which was also fantastic until the inlet camshaft snapped at 44k, but that's a different story). Albeit the car is an SE, it was originally a comapny vehicle so it had the Bluetooth kit factory fitted with the MFSW (it has the standard Bolero radio), but I am encountering exactly the same problem using 2 different phones. After checking other blogs, I understand the unit under the drivers seat could bear some relevance, and is labelled 5N0 035 730 A,and the phone's I'm using are a Nokia 6700 classic and a jailbroken iPhone4 with the Jens David Rsap/BTStack server installed. I've managed to pair both phones without any issues, and they're listed correctly as devices in the cars phone menu, however, I get the following cycle everytime I try to get either phone to work with the car. The bluetooth/Rsap enabled is switched on: 1. Message comes up on maxidot saying 'Connecting Nokia 6700 Classic/or Matt's iPhone, Please wait'. (On the Nokia phone, it beeps and displays 'Remote Sim Activated' at this point) 2. I then seem to lose the signal on the phones, and at the same time, the message on the maxidot says 'Initialising telphone. Please wait!' 3. After approx 45 secs, the signal on the phones gradually returns, (On the Nokia it beeps and displays 'disconnected Skoda Rsap') and about 10 seconds later, the maxidot says 'connecting....' 4. Then steps 2 & 3 just keep repeating themselves until I get fed up (have waited upto 10 mins to see if anything happens), but nothing ever does. So it seems to me that the phones are initially identified and connecting with the car correctly, but for whatever reason the car then can't seem to initisalise the telephone and it reverts back to trying to connect again. I could understand the iPhone having some problems as technically, they're not compatible, and I've tried troubleshooting the various tips and steps on the Jens David website, but to no avail. What I do struggle to understand is why the Nokia phone won't work, bearing in mind the unit under the drivers seat was actually manufactured by Nokia!! Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks All
