  1. No need to write a lot here.In general terms Audis are better than Skodas...because they cost a lot more. As a guess without research I'd say to get an A4 spec'd up to a similar level to a vRS is going to cost an extra £10k...so I'll take the Skoda, thank you.
  2. I would have been stronger about the type of fuel used. There are not that many cars where the manufacturer states that super fuel is preferred to ordinary. So why, especially, if you are particularly concerned about the future health of your engine, would you not put in super? If not, then reduced performance, reduced mpg and greater risk of engine damage just to save a few pence per fill up. That's it,no more to say, don't make this into a fuel debate, there's no doubt at all about the right thing to do.
  3. If you get a vRS the distance between the steering wheel and the gear change paddles is not minimal it's non-existent!!
  4. There is a theory that engines that are driven like that end up producing slightly more power than engines treated normally.....but,so the theory goes, they generally end up going bang a lot earlier. Makes sense to me.
  5. Exactly,so by habitually using high revs to proceed rather than using lower revs in a higher gear you are bound to shorten engine life in the long term to a degree. Personally I give my cars a good workout now and then using all the revs either for fun or when necessary in an overtake. However, when I'm not in a hurry I use always use the highest gear possible,to minimise fuel consumption, noise and engine wear,it's a matter of getting the balance right.
  6. Yes arb and wheel centres gone.Springs still here,if no-one wants these on here they will go on ebay
  7. Been answered on the other section. Apparently it does fit both models....now provisionally sold anyway.
  8. I have the above off my old mkII vRS on the parts for sale section. It's model BWR19Z. I think it will also fit the mkI Fabia but can someone confirm this? Blatant plug!! £75...about half price!!
  9. It may do,have a look at this,it's the BWR 19Z one. http://www.awesomegti.com/whiteline-rear-arb-fab-ib4-a2-polo-9n-9n2-gti-lupo-bwr19z
  10. Having sold my 2012 Fabia vRS hatch I have a Whiteline rear anti roll bar for sale. On the car for one year only so in good condition, complete with all fittings and original instructions. £75 collected only. Also have a set of four roadsprings that are as new having only been on the car for two months before I fitted Eibach springs. These would uprate a non-vRS Fabia or cheap enough to buy as spares. £40 collected only. Finally I have a set of four genuine Skoda wheel centres with the green logo,as new.(I replaced these with the latest logo ones after only a few weeks from new.) £15 posted.
  11. As others have said if the A/C blows cold it needs nothing doing to it. If you are getting bad smells from it due to bacteria build up in the system it's still not a garage job, just get a £10 system cleanser aerosol can.
  12. There is an easier way that costs nothing. Keep an old sheet or similar rolled up under the rear lip of the boot and before loading/unloading unfurl a section so it sits over the bumper to protect it,this can be the same sheet that you also spread over the boot floor when dirty items are carried. George,it's not only Scots that can be thrifty!!
  13. Have a look on the Whiteline website. They supply suspension enhancement items, including kits that give camber adjustments on cars that are non- adjustable ex factor.
  14. Agree with the others ,run a mile. I'm tempted to say that they are thinking that a only a female lacking in car knowledge would swallow the assertion that a car that has passed an MOT is retail sales quality. Sounds like it's true value is basic trade, less an adjustment for excess mileage, less 500 plus for the defects...in other words it's an auction car. If a trader buys it at auction, let's hope he's a reputable one who will rectify the main faults before offering it to the public at a competitive price.
  15. Agreed, that is the practical solution. And I can also say from personal experience that Candy white is also easy to match if paint repairs are needed. All blacks are time consuming to keep looking good. Other than that it's a pointless thread. It's purely personal choice, you might as well ask what are the best coloured clothes to wear.
  16. I did this last winter. Now that my mk2vRS is sold my set is available.Painted satin black with new style centre logos fitted with Kumho 195/50/16 winter tyres with hardly any wear. Was going to wait to advertise until about October, for obvious reasons, but PM me if you are interested now.
  17. I would have no idea either,BUT I'm confident it wouldn't be a problem to a competent auto electrician.
  18. Yes,but as Seagoat has reminded me,these are illegal strictly, but the ones that only play a one note blast are OK.
  19. Why not do what us oldies all used to do back in the day...fit a set of air horns! It was best to fit these as extras and leave the standard horns undisturbed, and preferably arrange the wiring so that via a changeover switch it was possible to operate either from the existing horn push...using the original around town and then switching over to the air ones for use on the open road/ motorway. However, someone will no doubt be able to confirm the legality or otherwise now of these air compressor horns.
  20. Simply stated and correct, not just for the vrs but all autos I believe.
  21. There's a letter from Skoda with it that confirms the 5 year warranty. It's definitely transferable, unlike some (Vauxhall?),but I don't know what formalities are involved. No paperwork regarding the free service but the fact is recorded on Skoda's service system.
  22. It's the CTHE engine and I topped up with 0.5 litre every 1000/1200 miles. I forgot it's also got cruise control, just had a service and the next service due in a year's time is a free one. If you are interested haggle hard, they have plenty of margin in it!!!
