  1. Hi Lummox, i'm hoping you can help me out. I have octavia 1.9tdi have had problems starting and cutting out whilst driving. Have changed relay 109 after reading other post this has solved the starting issue but it still cuts out at low speed (roundabouts and junctions!) it isnt all the time. wondered what you thought?? it has been scanned and a cam sensor replaced made no difference...

  2. I know, but I pull a caravan and my wife will be using it through the week for 300miles, when we had the old one she got 6 points for speeding so it could be sensible also!!!!! Tom:thumbup:
  3. Hello chaps, I used to own an octavia 1 vrs until a year ago when I purchased a Vauxhall! Anyway, not had a good year with it and the dealers are useless so started looking round again! I have seen a 06 plate octavia 2 tdi sport that I like the look of. Low miles and imaculate. £8K What is the general opinions on this vehicle, I would love a vrs again but could do with a diesel and dont have vrs tdi money! I am sure a remap would take me up to vrs performance. Anything I should look for ????? Tom Ps. I know I know, I should have just kept the old one!!!!!!!
  4. Yes mate, great weekend, Sun burnt though!!
  5. Ey Up dakar, Yes that is my old car, I miss it now I have looked at the photos, was a great car, only bother I had was the ARB, fitted a new skoda one and bushes about a year ago so you should not see any problems with that!! Happy Motoring Tom
  6. If this is such a lame thread, why post in it and read it in the first place!!! I have a vrs because I want the performance, when I want to play, however, I can not warrant two cars and so I have to run my car for work ( Sometimes upto 600 miles per week!) I dont get a fuel allowance so mpg plays a big part in my sallary. I too can drive like a kid with my cap on backwards and get less than 200 miles to a tank but that is not the point of the thread, the point was if I drive very steady I can manage a weeks traveling on 60 quid as a pose to 150 quid driving like a p*$ck! Think that makes sense to most who have posted! I have tried to put it in basic terms in case you miss understood! Thanks for your comments though guys. Sure most got the point. Octavia vrs= SENSIBLE mans hot hatch!!!! Tom:thumbup:
  7. Myself and Dakar have c+@ked up for next Sunday, we will only be able to get to Brid for 2pm!!! Hope you lot are still kicking arround but if not we will make it next time! Tom:thumbup:

  9. We will make one to this as well! I prosume kids are welcome, she is a bit of a petrol head so will enjoy it?
  10. Just had the timing belt/water pump done on m y 2003 vrs with 53k on the clock. Just to add to the warning, I thought I will be ok and sort of put it off, did not take notice of the knowledge on this site! Long story short, the mechanic saved the belt and water pump for me to look at, two of the impellors were missing off the water pump! he had managed to recover the bits, but the biggest shock was the belt, it was thread bear on the outside!!!!:eek::eek: He said that one of the tensioners was almost seized solid and it was only a matter of days/ weeks before a complete failure!!!!! Ironically, he had an A3 1.8T in that he was fitting a new engine to due to a timing belt failure, god it had made a serious mess, valves enbedded in pistons and the works!!!!!! Ps. he charged £100 labour for doing the belt and water pump, which I think is not to bad.
  11. Hoping to order the ARB plus other little goodies tomorrow mate, got some ramp time at keiths on friday afternoon/evening so hoping it all comes before then!
  12. I must admit I was driving like a propper F**ny, dont mind that though if it is saving me money on the work run so I can play daft at the weekend! Tom
  13. Just got 455 miles from a tank full of BP Ulti. in my vrs!!!! well impressed, it is standard at the mo. What do you guys get per tank?
  14. Can any of you guys point me in the direction of the temp sensor on an 03 vrs? Thanks Tom Ps. I prosume the temp sensor will solve my problem of the temp guage falling to zero and rising back to 90 irratically?????:(
