  1. even though it drives fine? i had read of peoples car was driving poorly. might bite the bullet and get a MAF sensor then. Wheres the best place to get one?
  2. the car isnt playing up though, drives fine, just returning about 44mpg on a 100 mile run and average 40 all other times.
  3. Would i be right in saying that the coolant temperature sender sends a signal to the temp gauge as well as to the ecu to control fuel? Just trying to sort my poor mpg. If the sensor was faulty would there be a fault with the gauge too or not necissarily? Just wondering is it worth changing, ive no fault codes etc and my gauge sits dead centre and doesnt budge. also anyone know how to test the MAF with a multimeter? What voltage or whatever id be looking for? Cheers
  4. Oh and is not more the coolant temperature sensor that could be the issue?
  5. im in the same boat. just been living with the 40mpg granny driving as i dont want to start replacing alot of parts to eliminate things. Keep us updated with your findings
  6. i think the metros look great, better than any hatch today in my opinion
  7. not many as cool and retro though. ive had an r5 gtt and 205 gti, both did cost money but theyre great to look at.
  8. i thought rust was mainly the reason there arent many here now. Must be more reliable than an old mini and theres plenty of them still about.
  9. Elaborate on that? Have you owned one? I know people think k series engine, head gasket etc. But i think if well maintained they are a simple engine so should tick over rightly. cheap to repair too.
  10. Hi all, im considering getting a 1400 metro gti, 1990 with low miles. Anyone any experience with them? im considering it for a daily commute of 13 miles each way.
  11. Is there a way of testing these sensors? I told my mechanic about mpg and he was like your getting 40mpg and complaining??? he obviously thinks that great. New mechanic needed maybe, or is an auto spark better for testing those components? My tyres are pumped and i worked my mpg out by the proper way and my in car meter was only 1 mpg out which is good for car computer.
  12. Sweet let us know, i only getting 41mpg and dont think its right, but ive no symptoms of anything being wrong. Id have hoped for better mpg than this
  13. Id say your safe to wait to at least 200k km, change oil and filter again, maybe air filter and spark plugs depending on when they were last changed. For all the price of them id change all of that. Also if its the pollen filter you ar etalking about its up underneath behind the glove compartment, be on your right hand side of the car if your in eastern europe.
  14. Been having a few brake issues recently. firstly, abs error, found broken wire to abs speed sensore... now fixed all been good. Front brakes were binding so threw it into the guy that does my car stuff for me, he greased up back of pads and possibly slider bolts but not sure... now they are still sticking, not all the time but most of the time, i can feel the resistance bringing me to a stop when coasting up to traffic lights etc. Any ideas? Also my brakes seem very sharp sometimes, i could put my foot lightly on brake slowing down then off and back on almost straight away they nearly put me through the windscreen (exageration), doesnt seem right to me, anyone experienced this? cheers
