  1. It'll probably be the sensor inside the car, I had this with my Cupra and had to pull the fuse out that activate the horn, I had it fixed the other week and its not that expensive, just frustrating! Use a specialist rather than the garage though, I did this first of all on the warranty but have since discovered they didn't do it correctly! Dam STEALERS!!!
  2. I had been looking for while until I found my Octy, I was unsure about the high miles and had looked at a few with 120k+ on the clock, I wouldn't be overly concened about a TDI being that high, engines are pretty much bullet proof these days. I'd just make sure that the service history is there and the parts that wear aren't to badly warn. I managed to pick up a 55 plate pre facelift MK2 VRS petrol, with 60k on the clock for just over 4.5k, this had full service history and am extremely pleased with it, I bought it for the same reason you have as were having our first nipper and the wifes gonna be driving it, when i get the keys back to my Cupra that she's stolen.....
  3. Ah ok, my Octy is a 55 plate so obviously the early ones didnt. Cheers Guys AJ
  4. Guys, I've now had my Octy a week and trying to get used to the bits and bobs that I have, One of the things like every Octy is that it has Cruise Control, I have used it today its spot on. I just have one question, Is the dash suposed to light up to indicte that the cruise is on? The reason why I ask is that my Leon Cupra also has the cruise control, when I put it on the dash has a light that comes on indicating that cruise has been selected. Where as on the Octy it doesn't. I know that these are different cars but obviously they still come under the VAG group and would of thought that it would. Cheers Guys AJ
  5. Hi, Is there anyone in the area that has one with the software as i'd like to look at unlocking the options available on my pre facelift Octy. Cheers Guys is advance AJ
  6. Lew, I've gotta agree there a realy good garage, i;ve used them for the last 3 years with my Leon Cupra and they really know their stuff. Anyone looking for an excellent specialist I'd recomend them, Good Friendly and reliable mechanics and are awesome priced. I decided on the MK2 Skoda Octy not onlyas it reached my practical needs but I also know that I have a reliable mechanic that would look after my needs.
  7. Sorry to hijack and slightly off topic, but where can I get black surround rather than the chrome as standard?
  8. Cheers for the reply. I take it the cable i need is called a connects2 adapter? Any idea on costs and work involved to fit it? My Oct is a pre face lift and when looking in the arm rest there is a black ring in the middle with a hoop what does that do?
  9. Hi Guys, Can I ask anyone who has an Octy MK2 to add pictures of their Boost Gauges that they have installed on the cars? looking for inspiration, I'm being dictated to by the wife on modifying my Octy at the moment as we've just bought her and we're expecting a nipper. Looking for cheap mods and I know that this is one. Well sort of, might have to tell a few white lies lol Is there a company producing them for the MK2? Cheers AJ
  10. Hi Guys, I appreciate that this may have been discussed previously but i'm new to the forum. I have recently purchased a MK2 Octy and wondering what hidden features there are on this car? I also own a MK2 Leon Cupra which has things such as when I unlock the car the head lights come on so I can see where i'm going, if I leave the lights on they switch off if the key is taken out of the ignition. Have I got this option hidden in the Octy? I also have a standard stereo which has an Aux capability displayed on the screen, I cannot find a docking station or an in for a cable, does or is this stereo capable of having a lead to allow me to play and use my ipod? I've found the 6 disc in the rear which is one bonus but all my music is on my pod! lol I'd appreciate any other advice on what is hidden in the car that fellow Octy drivers have discovered? I have discovered like most VAG's the windows drop and close if the key is held. I look forward to you adds AJ
  11. Hi Guys, Just to make you all aware that there is a VAG meet every Wednesday After 1900hrs at the Sainsburys on the A444 , Court House Green. The group are a mix of the VAG group, but mainly VW Golfs, they are a friendly bunch and not fussed if you dont turn up in a Golf as I've attended in my Cupra and they have entertaied me, its alway good to listern to other owner compare the models and makes. I've still got my Leon Cupra but also bought a MK2 Octy to play with so I will be heading up there at some point, it would be good to meeta few Coventry or West Mids owners so I can get some ideas on what to do to my new purchase. In act I will be attending this wednesday 4th July is anyone interested in showing up? If you do i'll be in the black Octy. Hope to see you up there AJ
  12. I'm from coventry, driving a standard MK2 Octy, but soon to be lowered!
  13. Guys, Just want to introduce myself, I'm new to the Skoda scene but not the VAG range as I'm greedy and have a 2007 Leon Cupra, which I love dearly. I have just purchased the wife a 2006 Octie VRS MK2, in black, 60k on the clock and extremely pleased with the purchase and i got it at a silly price with full service history. The Octie is completely standard and unmolested, however i have a few ideas on lowering her and getting a re map by p torque who did my Leon and was extremely impressed. I'm open to as much info and suggestions and recommendation on how and what to do to these cars as i'm new to this brand, so through them at me. Cheers Guys AJ
