Goodbye...for the moment
Pheasantplucker57 replied to Pheasantplucker57's topic in Hellos and Goodbyes
Purchased as a demo with £10,000 off, and about 2000miles. Decided to leave VAG group after dieselgate. -
Have decided to move on dear friends, and am grateful for the help given and some interesting stories and views. I have invested in a Ford Mondeo Vignale estate, auto with AWD. Whether this proves to be the right move only time will tell. Anyway, I will drop in from time to time to see what's happening. Best wishes to you all.

HEADLIGHT DAMAGE
Pheasantplucker57 replied to Pheasantplucker57's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
Yes, they are xenons, and the unit was purchased from a trade parts supplier in Glasgow who only do VAG parts. Have a pal who is a mechanic, fortunately. Both inner wheel arches off, under panel tray loosened, front bumper off, electronics transferred from broken unit to new unit, and put back together again in just over 4 hours. Both of us working on it. No warning lights on dash (battery not disconnected but ignition off) and all is good. What a fxxxxxg week. -
Driving on M8 eastbound between J27 and J26 there is a pedestrian only bridge, near Braehead. As I was passing underneath, a couple of the locals decided to lob something off the bridge, which promptly hit the car. From inspection, it looks like the black mastic stuff that you use to seal a flat roof. I think it may have been contained in a polystyrene cup or similar. Anyways, result was, offside headlight unit badly cracked and a replacement required. No other damage. Police have been informed, and the damage will nearly match the insurance excess! So I bought a replacement Skoda headlight unit today, for £491.04. I have bought cheaper cars in the past! Will hopefully get round to replacing over the next few days, and will keep you posted.

I suspect chimaera means using the tie down straps for the item, not the boot lid. -
Can i load 500kg in my estate ?
Pheasantplucker57 replied to Mike1985's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
MIke, just recently moved 412Kg of tiles in the back of mine...springs were well down, steering quite light, and I opted to have another 500Kg delivered by the company. -
Well, come on then, spill the beans!! Details of purchase please. Oh, and welcome.

SAMSUNG GALAXY A3
Pheasantplucker57 replied to Pheasantplucker57's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
I think the main thing to be gained using rSAP is being able to read sms texts via Maxidot, whereas I don`t think you can read texts using HFP. Hence the reason I upgraded to a phone with rSAP. -
Welcome, Fraser, to a site of great knowledge!! Got my car also from West End Skoda.

SAMSUNG GALAXY A3
Pheasantplucker57 replied to Pheasantplucker57's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
linni, thanks for that. I tried that, and it worked!! Chimaera, texts received via rSAP are synced back to the handset [settings>application settings>messages>text messages>manage SIm card messages]. -
Upgraded my htc phone to a Samsung Galaxy A3, (through `3`). The htc paired through hfp, I got calls no texts, and the phonebook loaded and updated. The Samsung Galaxy A3 paired through Premium easily, and I can receive calls. I can also receive texts which can be read on Maxidot, and responded to through Columbus. So far so good. My problem is, only three contacts can be loaded from the phonebook, and one of those contacts is myself! Even forcing the phonebook to load through Maxidot still brings up the same three (non connected) contacts. Any help would be appreciated.

Nokian Weatherproofs come with 7mm tread, not 8mm!
-
Tyres on, very few miles so far, but certainly quieter.
-
Last Wednesday (27th Jan) I ordered 4 Nokian Weatherproofs (all season tyres) from Tyreleader in Germany (otherwise known as CP Reifen Trading GmbH). 225/40R18, at £96.29 per corner. And they arrived today, just after midday! Great Service. The tyres will, hopefully, be going on tomorrow. Have read good things re these tyres, so took the plunge.

Inspection Notification
Pheasantplucker57 replied to Pheasantplucker57's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
peterposh, you are not entirely correct......your instructions did not alter the Inspection Service, it changed the Oil service from 12,900 miles/481 days to 9,400 miles/372 days. The Inspection service notification is still there. -
Inspection Notification
Pheasantplucker57 replied to Pheasantplucker57's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
It is as clear as mud, silver1011. The first service was done at 13 months, 9 months ago, at 12,469 miles. I looked at the VAG site, and it mentions that the first Inspection service is due after 3 years or 37,500 miles. My Superb is 14 months and 19,100 miles shy of their recommendations for an Inspection service, and I think it is on variable servicing. -
I have a Superb 140 4x4 estate, manual on a 63 plate. The vehicle was registered on 3/12/13. It is on variable servicing, Q16, and had an oil change service carried out 28/1/15 at 12,469 miles. The mileage now stands at 18,370, so its covered just less than 6,000 miles since its last service. I have now got an `Inspection in 500 miles 30 days` message. The maxidot tells me that an oil change is due in 12,900 miles/481 days, so presumably its not an oil change. Any ideas what the `inspection` covers? I`ve had a look in the handbook and service schedule document, and I`m still in the dark. Is there any way to re-set the Inspection message?
