  1. Seems some do and an equal number don't, is yours DSG and/or remapped? What age is it? I sometimes wonder if mine is worse when cold? Hoping after service in March it will be better.....
  2. Not sure i can justify (by that I mean get permission for...!) a remap but good to know it's probably a characteristic of the car and seemingly not something to worry about. Would love to have had DSG again but beggars can't be choosers and overall think it's a very good car for the money i paid.
  3. Do you guys ever have the situation that you almost feel like you are going to stall when accelerating hard from standstill, when joining busy roundabout for example? Difficult to get revs right and it kind of lurches forward then picks up?
  4. Mine does the same. Not exactly sure of revs but since I got the car I have felt something not quite right, a kind of hesitation. A bit annoying and will certainly mention it when it goes for service. Have come from Mk6 GTI that was so smooth so perhaps been spoilt a bit but can't help feel it shouldn't be like it is.
  5. ....and the bigoted attitude of the OP is fine I suppose? I may be a VERY occasional contributor but this thread just made me laugh, and kind of cringe.... Firstly, why should an Eastern European be either an "asylum seeker" or "unwashed"? Secondly, why does the fact that he speaks little English of any consequence? I would hazard a bet that his written English will be at worst on a par with the OP's (and probably better) judging by his posts in this thread!
  6. A few observations just over 3 months after buying a 2010 1.8 TSI Elegance (manual) with about 15k on the clock. Great engine.....but sometimes feels a bit hesitant, especially when trying to get off the mark quickly at roundabouts. Feel like it may stall then kind of jerks its way off. May be me but I am a pretty competent driver and still can't quite get it right. Sometimes feel it is not running 100% smooth in terms of power delivery but can't quite put my finger on why and when. May be that previous petrol car was mk 6 Gti with DSG and I am comparing it to that? Using a fair bit of oil, more than I have noticed in any other car. Gone from max to min in 6 weeks with not a lot more than daily 8 mile commute and a bit of fairly local pottering around. I do drive it quite hard and suspect it was driven sedately by previous owners as far as I can tell. Was serviced at 13.5k and now done 17.5k. Will keep an eye on it but slightly concerns me. Dashboard rattle - drives me insane......keep thinking I have fixed it and back it comes. Never had a rattle that annoys me so much and believe it is a very common issue. Not good enough for a car that otherwise delivers so much. Seats - bloody awful and cheap feeling foamy structure although actually not wholly uncomfortable. Lumber support completely innefective or perhaps broken. As above - not good enough for an Elegance spec. Sports suspension that it is specced with is great, not for everyone but I like a firm set-up. No ESP as standard in elegance spec. My 2006 Mazda 6 came with it as standard. So, those are my gripes but overall I love the car and am very pleased with my purchase. Hopefully a trip to the dealer will sort a couple of this issues under warranty but interested in views as to my thoughts.
  7. This really works!! Terrible rattle been driving me nuts since i got the car a couple of months ago.....now sorted! Thanks!
  8. Not a bad response and debate for a first post then! Not done many miles yet but driven the car in various road conditions and have to say so far the tyres have given me plenty of confidence, even pushing it round corners and roundabouts. I am no expert, enjoy my cars and driving, am an enthusiastic driver but no car 'enthusiast'. I wonder how many of us here can really tell the difference between tyres as much as many have said? In blind tests would we all rate the 'brands' better than 'budget' whilst going about our everyday driving - not sure if I would?? Suspect there is such a small differences in quality that we would find it difficult to tell them apart, of course testing them at their limits round test tracks we no doubt would but in everyday driving.......not so sure. Of course the only real test is when you REALLY need your tyres to perform, that emergency stop or last minute swerve...that's when those tyres that have performed well in expert tests may make all the difference. Driver skill and judgment equally important though.
  9. Actually it came from Yeomans Citroen in Fareham, it was a trade in and they thought it too good not to out on their forecourt. Got good deal as they wanted rid after it sat for some time and they needed space for a Citroen! Bought new from and looked after by Sparshatts in Fareham.
  10. So I picked up the car last night in the rain, half hour drive home, including pushing it a bit round some roundabouts, and no scares whatsoever. Seemed to grip well on the front. Not tried emergency stop yet but happy enough so far so not planning to panic and change them just yet. Liking the engine so far.....
  11. Picking up 1.8 TSI tomorrow, previously had MK6 gti, short time with Octavia 2.0 PD and MK1 petrol vrs so looking forward to seeing how it compares. Was looking for something petrol, practical, affordable and with a bit of oomph.....think this fits the bill perfectly but time will tell!
  12. Shocking!I would demand they be replaced at their cost and also want to understand why they wore like that. I wouldn't accept tyres like that on a car from a small independent dealer let alone an approved vehicle from an established franchise. Don't let it drop......
  13. Cheers for all the advice guys. Unfortunately the workshop couldn't get my car through today so have to wait till Wednesday to collect. It's p***ing it down here so would have been good opportunity to test out the tyres in wet conditions! On a slightly different note, bit disappointed car doesn't have ESP, this was standard in my old Mazda 6 years ago! Perhaps more reason to have decent rubber!
  14. No never had Potenza's - generally go for Conti's given the choice. Fancy trying some Vred Sessanta's though, if I can get hold of any! Will see how things go for the first week or so and then decide what I do....
  15. The car was serviced not long before previous owner sold it and guess it needed new fronts, they knew it was going to be traded in so put cheapos on.....
