  1. It probably started wheel spinning because the roads were wet. I've spent a lot of time looking at the best filters on my old tuned classic mini engines, from just ram pipes with no filter to the standard filter. And most the time with a better filter, you are loosing low down torque. Then gaining about 1 or 2bhp at the very top of the rev range, and that was on 130bhp a-series race engines. Similar story with exhausts really.
  2. They'll be fine if you don't drive fast, if you want to rag it then get some better ones. (I assume by engine choice you don't plan of driving like a granny. I don't see why you should have a problem selling them on, don't expect much for them though.
  3. haha legendary, I never had any benifit on carb engines. However I did have benifit with higher octane petrol but that was because of the compression ratio and the fact that the engine was set up for that kind of fuel. I was also told by a mechanic after having problems with the engine running on to use some better quality fuel every so oftern and it worked. With modern ECUs that adjust, I'd say higher octane pretty much useless on the road. High quality fuel YES, so less unburnt crap to coke up your head/pistons etc Saying that I still use tesco rubbish. My dad did mention to me that he once took his old diesel citreon picasso for a MOT, it only failed on emissions so the taster gave him some additive to put in the tank, and told him to go and give it a good boot then come back. He did it and when he came back they tested it and it passed! Not sure if this was redex or not though.
  4. Does anybody use thinner oil for cold start protection?
  5. My experiance is US freeways is that they are very slow unless you want to weave in and out!
  6. I've got a SSD sitting a disused computer which I need to split, I should put it in this netbook really, even if it's just for the fact that it's solid state and less likely to get damaged when I knock this netbook about! But if I didn't have it spare, I don't think I'd bother.
  7. 57 plate 2.0 TDI PD 140 Octavia Scout in grey, pick it up next week!
  8. Hi I'm Dan, I Placed a deposit on a Octavia Scout 2.0 tdi pd 140 today, I did a lot of research before going for it and most of my google searches I ended up on here so I thought I'd join. It's going to be a strange change for me car wise, I've only ever owned classic minis! I got my first at 17 then about a year later I got another classic mini, sold it and bought another one, sold them both and at the moment I'm driving around in my Dad's fiesta that doesn't even have abs, or remote central locking or leccy windows! So I can't wait to pick it up, though having owned classic minis, I'm constantly thinking of ways to customise it but I can't think of anything to change! I guess that's a good thing! So for now I'm just looking at the pictures. First thing I'll do is get a diesel sticker for inside the filler cap so I don't forget! I quite like older skodas too, I really fancy a felica estate sleeper!
