  1. Thanks lads, finally sorted the scuttle panel sealing issue. Problem was a blocked drain channel hole just to the right of the pollen filter, it was filled with leaves , dead insects and other assorted detritus that had no doubt been disturbed by me during the earlier heater matrix replacment shenanagains... Plus a thin bead of RTV sealent as the scuttle panel was finally slotted into place...
  2. Thanks lads....New O rings worked a treat...... my cooling system...is watertight again... I was kinda worried that I had purchased and gone to all the trouble of fitting a duff heater core/matrix
  3. @FREEDOM When I removed the pollen filter housing, it was only sealed by some thin foam between the heaterbox inlet plenium and the pollen filter housing... this wasn't watertight..... and never caused any issues before I removed the darn scuttle panel.... Any ideas about what product is recomended for sealing the scuttle panel against the windscreen? Does the area behind the have a drain channel I may have inadvertantly blocked? Im kinda worried about the ECU getting soaked
  4. Sorry to resurrect zombie thread lads, I had to remove this panel in order to remove the heater box after my heater core/matrix exploaded. Now I'm having all sorts of problems resealing it.... and the left rear seat passenger footwell is like a fecking swimming pool...at least three inches of rain water
  5. I have exactly the same problem on my 99 Octavia Tdi. The rear left passenger footwell was like a swimming pool, at least four inches of rain water..... I don't think it's related to my heater core problems mentioned below either....But I could be wrong....????? My car was off the road for a couple of weeks because the heater core started leaking.... It was a massive job to repair.... Will be putting up the whole repair job in a hundred easy steps on the fourm when I have time. My heater core/matrix exploaded at 142 K miles....Anyone driving a high milage VAG car should be expecting the darn thing to pop anytime soon....
  6. Hello from Ireland- Welcome to the fourm... I only joined recently myself SD...
  7. Thanks for that.......Will buy some new o rings and report back......I read smearing some silicone grease on the o rings helps em to seal......
  8. I guess as a last resort, I could use a hacksaw off the heater core cannection flanges.. and use some jubilee clips..But would prefer to do a proper job,,, In this U-tube video, you can see these plastic heater core connections....at 54 seconds....Can anyone give me some advise please? http://youtu.be/pjVhFHz7xE
  9. Hi guys- as a longtime lurker and first time poster, I have a BIG problem.... I had to replace my 99 Octavia Tdi's heater core/matrix recently....It was a huge job.....very time consuming...... managed to scource a good quality OEM replacment heater core for €30.....that looked identical to the cars original VAG one After hours of reassembly of the heaterbox and dashboard..., I attached the coolant hose connections to newly installed heater core. ... One started leaking immediately...drip...drip....drip... My question is....Are these plastic heater hose connections single use only?
