  1. hi carl, have u had the throttle body cleaned out as i had similar problem and this cured it
  2. not sure where to start ,I had my vrs in to a dealer for a small cosmetic repair. The dealer loaned me there vrs tdi in the mean time while mine was being sort after,I don't know if it was just me but the dealers vrs felt a bit quicker than mine. The only difference between the two was a difference of about 1000mile on the clock and that mine had 18" rims as where the dealer had 17"inch would that make a difference?Im thinking as the dealers was a demo car they hammered it from the get go, would it make a difference?I was sad to give the demo car back as I thought mine was not as fast as this one .You would expect the cars to feel identical as they having exactly the same engines weird:confused:
  3. im with u on that one jonno,if u can afford one say bye bye to vrs.id give my left ball for a rs4
  4. I also had a mk1 before getting the vrs tdi,my mk 1 vrs was standard aswell, funny thing is even though the tdi 10bhp less its feels quicker than the mk1, obviously because of the amount of torque it has.The in gear acceleration is impressive ,it gives a lot of bigger engine cars a scare ,you feel like you can give anything a go. The find tdi shows its best on motor ways and b roads ,around town and in traffic I find the turbo lag in first to be a bit of a downer. I also find in 2nd on dry road it still battles to put its power down properly,as you would expect trying it in the wet you have no hope.please tell us how the test drive went.
  5. Honestly i would loose the the rear wing first its a bit OTT ,replace it with the standard then get the black strips on the bumpers and side ,coloured them to match the car, then change the colour of the wheels to more of gun metal colour, blacks a bit to dark looks like the car has no wheels on it.change it more to a kind of sleeper, not so much that you're advertising your self that you're fast. Its just my opinion nevertheless you bought an excellent car, alot of car for the money well done!
  6. Its a extra on the skoda octavia vrs,its £1.400 ,I had the choice between the leather or sat nav ,but after trying to live with a white trim in my last mk1 vrs ,I couldn't do it again.
  7. cant see much on the side apart from the air bag tag
  8. yes they said it had to be sent away to independent company to be fitted, they had it for week as they had to re-trim the existing seats. The leather came out better than expected gives the interior real sporty but plush feel.
  9. hope this works ,I got my car back on friday as dealer had to fit my leather interior as it was not a factory option ,but the wait was worth it,really happy with the finish.
  10. Hi Bob,glad u enjoyed the TDI.Ive had mine for just over 3weeks now and still cant get over how quick it feels. It feels much quicker than the mk1 I used to have even though its 10bhp less.
  11. push cd button until u get "AUX IN" and u should be able to hear your ipod play, might have to adjust the level to 3,volume is a bit low I would say.
  12. Hi there I just wanted to find out when this offer started ,as I ordered my car through lease plan mid October with these extras not knowing skoda had this deal on ,and I know for a fact that on the quote they charged me for them.Should I query this,or does this only apply to the petrol vrs or is for sale to the public only.Has anyone had this issue when ordering as a company car as well?
  13. just want to find out were you change up.I read on here that you should change up around 3000 rpm to stay in the torque band, but saying that I feel the pull trails off around 4200rpm.Im coming from a mk1 vrs so I'm learning how to drive a tdi properly buy not revving its nuts off, also does anyone know why the increments change half way through the speedometer from 20mph-10mph?
  14. Its the ARB bushes, just make sure the dealer replaces both at the same time ARB and new bushes ,if they just replace the bushes the problem will come back in a few weeks time.
  15. I had the mooing problem for months they replaced the pads but the mooing came back after about a week ,I finally gave the the hint to replace the pads and discs at he same time ,as well as putting some copper grease behind the pads and since then I havent had any problems at all.
  16. Thanks guys .I made an appointment for Monday at my dealer,Im going to point out about the water pump and hope they find out whats causing these problems
  17. The car has done around 68k and the water pump has not been replaced since new as I got the car from new.The other thing I wanted to point out is seems to be sluggish in 4th and 5th around 60mph if i boot it nothing happens it only slowly gains speed, its as though I need to gear down to overtake, like into 3rd.Im used to the power but it just feels kinda slow.
  18. Hi there ,I seem to have this problem on my mk1 vrs the tempreture gauge is supposed to be at the halfway mark which is 90 when warmed up but, mine seems to be hovering around 100-110 lately. I've had it into two skoda dealers and they cant find anything wrong.I am a bit concerned as it has never done it before. It does it even when u are driving at a steady speed on the motor way,it seems to drop slightly when coming to stop start traffic .has anyone experienced this before?
  19. Is this right I looked at mine recently and it looked really dirty and it had just had its 60k service, ,I would have thought they'd replace it every 10k.
  20. Hi gav,Ive had mine 4 years now from new with 65k on the clock and I am still happy with it.It is starting to show up a few niggles hear and there, but with age every car will give small problems, apart from that probably the best car Ive owned in a long time.I live and work around London, alot of stop start driving, and it gets abused.
  21. Hi there again, has anyone got pics of the full leather interior upgrade. The only picture I can find is on the skoda UK website, but its a bit small.Has anyone had it done yet and is it worth the £1400 extra?I have the mk1 vrs and owning a car with grey trim is a nightmare to keep clean, and Im just a bit concerned of the having the same problem with the the grey suede leather on the new seats , pics please if you can thanks.
  22. Hi there ,quick question on the mk2 VRS what colour do the brake calipers come in on the black VRS are they red?,as I read somewhere on the forum that the 2008 model they were going to switch back to green. Is this true ? is there an option on what colour you want for the brake calipers.I have seen green on the silver VRS,s is this standard?can someone help please.thanks
  23. Hi there,I know this a common problem,Ive had it for a while now, when going over large bumps I get a loud rubber rubbing noise from under the driver side.Ive had it to the dealers for a number of visits, they say it ARB,or its the rubbers that have to be replaced at which time they replace.I find after a few days of it being fixed the problem slowly begins to come back ,has anyone had this problem before and what fix can fix it for good!as its driving me mad!Im just so tired of go back and forth to the dealers for the same problem. The car is no longer under warrenty will replacing poly bushes instead of the rubber ones work? please help.thanks
  24. on a test drive listen out fo sqeeking suspension from the front of car,and also when braking in reverse listen out for the dreaded mooing brake noise ,other from that the car is superb Ive had mine for 3 years now and it still brings a smile to my face .I prefer the look of the old mk1 it looks agressive than the mk2,mine still gets looks to this day as I live in london and they seem to be very rare here.I think its the best value money can by in terms of preformance ,comfort and styling.I had a civic type r for a year and every time I got out and in the into the vrs ,it actually felt that the vrs was the better car.
  25. The best way I find is ,put some non-bio washing powder into about half a bucket of hot water, using a spong with the soapy water rub into the seat vigourisly.the seat must be slightly damp ,not to wet then get a small dry white towel and rub into the seat as if u were drying it ,u will see on the towel how much dirt has come off the seat after rubbing it dry.It works around the door handles aswell.
