  1. Hi there i got my mats from a local guy here in Perth who has a store on ebay ( he only has the yeti rubber boot liner listed at mo ) but i paid $100 for a set of 4 with yeti badges stictched on? more than likely could have got them cheaper at the time of buying but my whole buying the yeti was crap if you wanna read have a squizz here to my wife blog. http://kiristraveltales.wordpress.com/2012/09/02/buying-a-new-car/ my mate got a fabia monte carlo before me from the same dealer and i was promised( by the manager) that my mate would get a cheque for $150 as i said he recommended me. He even paid for monte carlo mats and 3 months later still hadnt got any, so we went in and the manager took a new set out of a VRS and said "the salesman got it wrong we dont have special monte carlo mats" ???? that was 3 months ago and still no cheque and no call to say hows the car going after so many months ( or am i expecting to much .....) sorry turned out to be a bit of a whinge after all that ...lol PS what you pay for mudflaps as i think i might have to get me some eventually but nearly upto 10,000ks and the yeti going good Happy driving Pommie

  5. Well fist off all i would like to apolgise for the lengthy first post so you may wanna sit down with a cuppa i have been toying with the idea of getting my first ever new car and i really like the look of the skoda fabia or yeti ( i preffer the yeti but my wife will be the main driver after christmas time there is only us 2 so she thinks the yeti is to big) Skoda has only been in Australia for about 4 years isnt subject to all the old skoda jokes and stigma and apart from it being all over the tv with the Tour de France lots of people havent herd of them (well the Aussies anyway) i have posted this on the australian watercooled forum as its got a section for skodas anyway here it is in parts i have left out the replys but if you wanna have a look at the replys the fulll thread is below. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f151/forecourt-price-room-movement-73697.html http://www.skoda.com.au/fabiamc/ Skoda Oz website POST 1 Hi All Been bitten by the Skoda bug after missing out on a 2008 roomster Diesel private sale. '' You snooze you lose" my wife said to me. So after looking online and doing a bit of research we headed off for our first ever new car rekky. After arriving at the car sales yard and draggin my wife away from the new fiat 500 abarths we started looking at the fabias, in particular the monte carlo for $21,990 on the road. i was plesantly impressed with the car (although i still like the look of the cheapest version on the 2wd Yeti 77tsi for a few grand more). With a quick chat to the finance man, whom we told we only wanted 10k on finace over 2 years, i am just wondering what the score is on working him to give me a discount? If i was buying a second hand car i would have no hesitation in offering 18k on a car that's 22k but that's because i would be dealing in cash. However, in this case I have no idea about new cars. i know they will try to get me for lots of options ie paint protection and extras but the car looked fine in standard trim. I'm still trying to persuade my wife that the Yeti is better and we will get more resale when we come to sell it but so far it's not working when i am able to get to the dealer again i wanna test drive (didn't have time today) both the auto and the manual and maybe the yeti. i am used to manuals but maybe for resale and being stuck in traffic for most of my comute an auto would be better. anyway enough of me rambling on. options or suggestions will be gratefully appreciated Regards, Roger PS It was a red monte carlo fabia - which wasn't in stock but would be in about two weeks. Post 2 My wife rang the second dealer today and asked when the fabia monte auto would be here and the price he told her they would be about 2 months away "but should have been already be here" they will be about $28,990 drive away the manuals priced at 21990 are already fully discounted. And they just sold the red one on the saturday he also mentioned the 2012 badged ones have the swing radio? controls on the steering wheel and no red stitching around the gear stick he also mentioned the 2.8% finance for the yeti had ended its still on the carsales.com.au website saying 2.8% ( so there goes 1 good bargaining tool i was using trying to persuade my wife why the yeti would be better for us ..lol) POST 3 Thanks guys yeah seen a few monte's on carsales in the eastern states for 20,990 drive away, but like you say thats for a stock car and the other side of the country, and my wife likes the red and they would have to get one in for that, also as i am driving a old borrowed manual at the mo and feel like i am driving aggressively when pulling away at lights ect to keep up with all other cars as they all seem to be autos and being from the uk not i am used to that, but when driving the work ute(its a auto) its just put your foot down no hassle stress free, so maybe dsg is the way to go, or maybe i am getting old..lol wow there is alot to think figure out when buying new but luckly these forums are great for opinions and suggestions and another thing its not in bad taste to see if one dealer can better the other one is it ? Post 4 THE TEST DRIVE Well today were the first test drives, so back to dealer 1 and took the fabia monte carlo out for a quick spin around the block and up the freeway and my wife drove it back. i was very pleasantly surprised by the power from the little 1.2 litre and it was more than enoug for city driving and the odd bits off freeway driving we do. As I pulled out onto the freeway the salesman in the back said "you can put your foot down if you want." so within what seemed like seconds i was into fourth and merging into the freeway at 100 no problems then into 5th and cruising along with the sat morning drivers. i looked at my wife and we both grinned stupidly. this will do for us we thought, as if esp connected us ..lol after getting back to number 1 dealers i told him straight up that I had a test drive of the dsg yeti 77tsi at another skoda dealer's down the road and i was going to compare prices and see what the best deal i could get. he asked if i wanted to test drive their dsg but i politely told them i had told the other dealer i was definitely turning up and didn't wanna stand him up and of course i wanted to see what he could do too. we arrived at dealer no 2 and took the yeti out unaccompanied due to the dealer waiting on a late appointment. i jumped in the driver's seat and engaged the dsg into drive and W.O.W what a difference. although a tad slower in pickup than the fabia, i was in love with the gearbox and realised how much this car would make my drive to work much more stress free compared to the old manual I'm driving at the moment. i couldn't believe how smooth it was, you just put your foot down, there was no hassle, it was just superb. then i noticed a little 's' on the gearstick which i presumed was 'sports mode' or something. (I really should have learned about this box before I drove it as I think you can drive it manually as well). the 's' mode caused the car to hang onto the gears longer and giving the car a little bit of rev as it automatically changed down - which amused me no end! we returned to the car yard and asked when the automatic fabia would be available, having been completely sold on the automatic drive. he told me could be another two months but they had been test driving them over east on a Skoda dealer day. now this is where the dilemma begins. my wife (and I for that matter) like the fabia due to its sporty looks but would prefer it to be automatic. however, we want to buy a car now and can't stand the thought of waiting. i prefer the yeti but can't convince her to go down this path. then she spotted the VRS in the corner and i had to pull tightly on the reins to keep our budget in check. however, dealer no 2 saw her weakness and explained that a fabia monte automatic would go for about $28,000 and we'd have to wait, whereas for $32,000 we could drive away a car with double the horsepower/kw. me being a tightarse said no straight away. so we returned to salesman no 1 to enquire about the monte with automatic and he told us they hadn't even been built yet, so it could be six months. we were then asked if they could get a red monte for $19,990, would we sign today on the spot at that price and it would take four weeks to arrive. the salesperson left us for five minutes but our desire for the automatic saw us walk away.....which I will probably regret after driving my 1996 manual suzuki for the next week!! now i am left thinking "why couldn't I have bought one in england, kept it for a year and fetched it out here as a personal import?!" LOL the only thing i can think of now is a VW polo with the dsg box or try and wear the missus down for the yeti. buying a house and getting married is a walk in the park compared to buying a new car!! LOL well, you'll know when i know anyway thats about as far as it goes so we can have a manual now wait for the DSG no one really seems to know how long have emailed skoda direct but no answer as yet or bit the bullet and get the VRS ps we only have the 1 version of the monte and it comes with 16" alloys think the uk ones have 17" and no freebies like no vat or free 3 year servicing and we are more costly over here i think ? ( hang on i am turning into a whinging Pom ... ) anyway hopefully i will eventually post some pics of what we get when we figured out what to do Reply With Quote
