  1. On the calendar, not sure what car I will be in, potentially will be back in a BMW again
  2. Hi All, recently picked up a mk4 Golf 1.8T, it seems to have had its clocks changed at some point by a previous owner, as such I want to get it coded so that the car shows the correct mileage, is there anyone who can do this or recommend somewhere that can sort this? Many thanks as always, Simon
  3. As Tony says, it is an extremely quick car now, and quite enjoyable to drive with the adaptive dampers etc.
  4. Hopefully will be there this time, its on the calendar and I have permission from the wife.

  6. Sorry guys will update with some pictures once I have the wheels back from refurbishment. Haven't clicked with a car like this for quite a while, getting used to the petrol consumption, this is offset by the LPG, albeit finding a local station has helped with this, £34 to fill the tank isn't bad. The car itself has a wonderful engine note. Looking at short shifters and upgrading the bushes to poly bushes, its definitely growing on me!
  7. Good meet guys, thoroughly enjoyed the last meet, nice to get the cars out for a bit of a run. Looking forward to seeing the 245 Tony
  8. Agreed Spoons is better value for money, but 7 stars hasn't seemed to bad value for money when we have been there in the past? The car park is more suited for the summer nights as well surely?
  9. So a change was felt, having had the BMW for 2 years, I fancied something petrol and manual again, but in keeping an estate shape... Plans were put in place, first of all breaking the E39 which netted me the necessary finances in order to start that most festive of times, car shopping, I had a rough idea of what I wanted. Estate, Petrol, Manual, 4wd was a bonus not a necessity, Also needed a little bit of poke behind it. Looking through the classifieds, I looked at the A4 1.8T Quattro Avant, BMW 330's, BMW 530i's but kept coming back to the Subaru as it seemed a jack of all trades. I finally test drove one and was hooked, sadly they aren't that common over here, but whilst on a Ebay hunt a 2 owner car with mountains of paperwork and a LPG conversion came up for a reasonable price extremely near to me. It isn't without its faults, the CD changer doesn't work, easily remedied with a complete double din install included in the price, and the wheels...well they needed a complete refurbish. Managed to find a set on eBay for a good price, again needing a bit of a refurbish but much better condition then my set that are on the car currently. Initial thoughts are, well this is good fun, the engine itself sounds wonderful at the higher rev ranges, it had a quad pipe conversion from an STi and it just seems to keep pulling, anyway will put some pics up at the end of the day, it is a bit of a flying machine. Drives really well, very different to the E39 as to be expected, anyway will put some pictures up when I get a chance to take some! Thanks all,
  10. One of the cheaper options, I would have like to know how much the fridge cost!
  11. Aspman, have you become a typical BMW owner yet and put the last 7 digits of the vin number into bmwvin.com? Just to see what the factory option list is? I did it with this monster, it is hilarious when you have to scroll down for the options! https://www.gumtree.com/p/bmw/bmw-750il-individual-v12-sat-nav-fully-loaded-top-spec-e38-long-mot-xenon-lights-px-welcome-long-mot/1248577124
  12. Have a good one peoples, I shall be missing this due to baby related NCT courses, see you next month!
  13. Happy to go with the crowd, but how about Seven Stars this time and discuss around the table? The Seven Stars has been consistently good as well,
  14. Thought I better put this up, for the usual lot, The meet formerly known as the West Meon Hut meet, All welcome, especially newcomers, meet starts at 19.00 but people tend to arrive a little earlier. Details of pub can be found here: http://sevenstarsstroud.co.uk The postcode GU32 3PG
  15. Its odd how quickly this changes, I had a 61 Plate Astra that just had the gunk, whilst my 2003 530D has a full size spare alloy, a widow maker Jack, full tool kit, a wheel chock, first aid kit, torch etc. Is it all down the weight and storage space then? Then as above, the amount of people who can actually change a spare is minimal to say the least!
  16. Swirl flaps, swirl flaps and swirl flaps! I think this may be the updated M57N engine but they have these swirl flaps on the inlet manifold which have a notorious habit of dropping into the engine and causing many pounds of damage, you can buy blanks from ebay etc. Is it the five speed auto or the six speed but can recommend a fluid and filter change on them as they respond extremely well to it. You can wire in a flappy paddle steering wheel with only a new slip ring and a flappy paddle wheel from an E46 M3 Other then that really like this, and the 3.0d is a really good engine, Ive got one in my E39 and it just goes and goes, comfy as you say as well,
  17. Ive heard good things about the 8 speed box, I'm suitably impressed with the 5 speed auto on mine, retrofitted the flappy paddle wheel its great fun :P
  18. Good email Ben, not the response that I was expecting especially from a large chain such as Marstons, basically to turn round and say we are trying to get shot of it. Understandable about the recruitment etc. its quite a remote/affluent area and you need to drive to be able to get to the location. With regards to a new location, its a shame the Meon has dropped down as the location is prime, I wouldn't be surprised if it stays as a pub and goes through a change of ownership, its quite an iconic location for a lot of people. anyway we shall see what happens!
  19. Rare added extra, make sure to top the indicator fluid up, my BMW has a really small tank :P
  20. Cracking choice sir, enjoy the car. I'm a big fan of the big six diesels
  21. I'll be down as usual, hope everyone had a good break.
  22. Saying that the majority of the E30 zone guys are pretty good and actually prefer OEM or OEM+...more the E46/36 Fam drift boyz, just starting to affect the E39 at the moment. always intrigued me why someone would want to weld a diff of a motorway cruiser. They are good cars to work on though, been tinkering with my 530d and always have found things to be in a easy to reach place, can imagine even more so for the E30.
  23. yes agreed on the people it attracts... wotz ure last price...knuckle draggers, have been breaking an E39 and its just not an easy process, wish I would have known as needed a spare wheel when my flappy paddle wheel goes for refurb! Car is looking really good, can't beat the E30 shape, and is nice to see you bring it back from the dead.
  24. Grab the steering wheel from the E46 as it will be a facelift sport wheel I am thinking and these sell well on all the parts places for BMW's
