  1. Thanks gogo for that. I picked the car up yesterday so i'm at the learning stage. I will spend a couple of hours parked up with the manual and sort it all out
  2. As Skoda’s own OBD2 plug retails at £49, i wondered if any of the generic plugs work with the Skoda app? I’m doubtful if i’l find much of the data useful, and I would NOT allow any third party to read my driving habits out of principal. Any advice appreciated This will be for a new Fabia mk iv
  3. I would like to order some spare parts/accessories for my Fabia mk4 which should be with me in a couple of months. A few years ago i got a Yeti spare wheel from Rainworth at a good price, but they don’t advertise their parts department now. Superskoda in the Czech Republic seems to have stopped trading. Does anyone have tips on where to try?
  4. I have for the second time left a low drain item (phone charger, gps lead) connected to the 12v socket, not just overnight but for 2 weeks or more. The car has not been used much over the last year. is there a way using VCDS to program the socket to work ‘ignition on’ only? BTW the RAC have been very good testing & sorting out a new battery.
  5. Auto Express has published the prices for the new Fabia saying it’s on sale now. Skoda website still says available in 2022. Could the mag be referring to a continental model and just changing those prices into GBP?
  6. This is probably a better forum to post this than the "Handy Tips". Occasionally my yeti’s battery gets low enough to not be able to start the engine. The problem is that the car has to be nose-in in the garage (no mains electricity), so I can’t open the bonnet. I believe that it’s possible to trickle charge it via the cigarette lighter socket using a good 12v battery . Has anybody done this? Would a 12Ah motorcycle battery do? Twice before I relied on a RAC bloke to help me push it out.

  8. It looks like it is only the mk3 details. The brochure at the bottom quotes “UK 5/21” which I assumed to be the latest published one. I wonder why Carwow still lists factory fitted options when they stopped mk3 production some time ago.
  9. May brochure & pricelist up on Skoda website
  10. I had a brief search of posts here and couldn't find this mentioned: From May 2018 MOT to include diesel DPF unit. This page should explain it: https://www.carkeys.co.uk/news/these-are-the-six-new-driving-laws-coming-to-effect-in-2018 In the past there have been posts about removing the DPF to avoid problems they can cause.
  11. I have a Shark Performance remap using their STS unit which I am very happy with. What has the experience been for others getting Skoda's remap 'fix' for their emissions cheat? Has it buggered up the Shark map or its ability to use the STS unit to restore it?
  12. VAG Group seem to change cam belts by age rather than mileage. Back in 2008, with my Seat Altea it was after 4 years. It's now 5 years for my Yeti 2.0 140 TDI
  13. I so wish that Skoda made auto wipers an optional extra, I would always opt for 3-position intermittent wipe like my '80s Datsun had. (2,4,8 second delay?)
  14. Keeping on topic, the glass didn't rust. The wiper arms though.....
  15. I never had a car in which the auto wipe worked as I liked. Bring back the 2/4/8 second delay switch that my old datsun had!
  16. The reviewer in that article says "The conversion is tidily done". so perhaps Skoda Ireland commissioned it. Worth inquiring.
  17. Size difference probably due to Wagar's Octavia
  18. My Yeti allows the the radio to run with the ignition off for 30 mins before that message appears, then automatically switches the radio off after another 15 secs.
  19. I used to own a SEAT Altea 2 ltr diesel. That had a fixed cambelt replacement age of 4 years regardless of mileage. I would expect that like tyres, belts have a safe age span.
  20. My first car, a MK 2 Cortina, had a defective indicator stalk that wouldn't cancel. As I couldn't afford to replace it, I learnt to always cancel the flasher manually after the manoeuvre. It's a habit that I still practice after forty years, returning the stalk to centre before it would have done so automatically. It also ensures that I don't unintentionally flash too long for a second turning close to the first.
  21. I re-mapped my previous Ford Focus diesel using a Bluefin unit, all the exchanging of maps with the tuners being done from home via email. Will this be the same system with the STS unit for a Yeti CR140 when it is released?
  22. I wouldn't want to reverse up a kerb with those on.
  23. Best to try to gently pull the wipers away from the screen at a right angle before getting into the car. If they won't move use a little de-icer on them. Or: Before I had cars with a heated screen I would use a £5 plastic B&Q garden watering can with a shower type nozzle fitting, and half fill it with warm water. It has to be hand warm only so need to test it with your hand. If you're reluctant to stick your hand under the flow to see, then its too hot! Using the spray nozzle further allows the water to cool before hitting the glass. I used this many times with no problems, the screen and side glass never refroze before driving away as I used enough water to slightly warm the glass. On those occasions when it has snowed and you haven't used the car for a few days, the can will clear the thick ridged ice from the side windows better than any scraper & de-icer.
  24. I wondered if it would be useful to others if we had a thread on snow/ice driving with contributions from those owners who had to regularly use their YETI in adverse conditions in winters past. I am thinking of specifically YETI 2/4WD with the use of the 'Off-Road' & 'ESP-Off' buttons. I think tyre choice has been sufficiently covered in previous threads. Perhaps if there is enough interest shown Admin could make it a sticky thread just for the winter months . What do you think?
