My 2009 skoda octavia has also developed boot fault with whirring / clicking noises but not opening. Only seems to happening in very warm or very cold weather though - perhaps electronics or can anyone recommend checks that I should be doing? thanks!

Turns out it was the seal! Holes on top and squashed by boot closing, Needed to create new holes in rubber seal on lower side - sorted :-)

Does anyone know where I could find a list of airbag fault codes and what they mean? many thanks

I had problem with water in spare wheel area. Seal had some holes in upper surface which weren't letting water drain away. My brother in law cut a couple extra holes on lower side of the seal and problem solved! :-)

All Thanks for all the advice. Turns out that my leak seems to be rainwater, not the washer fliud. Done my own 'water test' after drying everything out and seem to have similar issue with seal not draining. Also very crude check of closed alignment of boot and since I can get end of my little finger in by lamp on right side but not on left it appears that not on straight - wondering if this is pinching on seal in wrong way and causing problems? thanks

Thanks Silver 1011, that makes sense as did have a couple days recently when I couldn't get the boot open so may have been electronics problems.

I've just discovered major water problem in spare wheel well and now got to try and figure out what causing it. I've got a 2009 Skoda Octavia 5 door hatchback. Anything other than rear washer pipe I shoud check? Thanks everyone!

Thanks all Think it's mechanical since steering actually locked but going to get checked out. Problem is that light didn't stay on after I turn engine on and off so likely that diagnostic won't fnd anything since light only on for short period of time...

The red warning light for steering came on last night in my 3year old 1/4TSI Octavia - i was completely unable to turn the wheel (feel locked, not just 'heavy' due to no power steering). This exact same thing happened to me 2years ago and a major fault was discovered and entire steering track was supposedly replaced. Does anyone have any ideas about why this could have hapened again and what to do? My guarantee has run out but I took extended covered via WarrantyWise so I'm hoping that they'll cover any work/checks I need carried out. Many thanks indeed for any guidance! PS - if you know of any good independant garages in Glasgow area then please do let me know as I'll need someone to check this out!
