  1. it was pretty obvious microsoft would bin some of their daft ideas. they had to if they wanted to compete. It wont affect my decision as ill wait to see which one is best in terms of gaming. no point saying this will be ps4 as its more powerfull as this didnt help ps3. Only time will tell. would be good to get an actual first hand review of them both prior to release date.
  2. No. U dont understand. Nevermind. Money isnt important in my descision as they will both be virtually the same. If you understood consoles u would get it. Simply having my gamerscore transfer is enough if a motivator if the ps4 isnt fundanentally better. Brand loyalty isnt a factor as i already stated. Maybe im wording it wrong but you have totally missed my point.
  3. Thats not what i meant. I said i would buy the best console no matter what the price difference. Im not interested in saving money i want the best games machine. If it turns out that neither console has a clear advantage then ill stick with xbox.
  4. For me money or specifically the cost of the console is of no consequence. I will get the better games machine. Only games matter to me. If its too close to call as it is now with ps3 and xbox then ill stick xbox. No point saving 100 quid on a console only to be playing slightly inferior games for 8 years. I actually have an xbox and a vita so am not bothered who wins. For the record i think the vita is amazing but i never play it as it has no games. Very poor support sony.
  5. Just been offered a settlement from bear. I only asked for the £180 plus £60 for a wheel refurb. Wheel is actually virtually fine so wont bother with refurb. Decided to not be greedy hoping it would increase my chances of being sucessfull. Whether thus influenced it or not ill never know but im happy at least as im not out of pocket. Big thanks to sk4gw for probably the most valuable bits of evidence. Cheers for that George. Just waiting for cheque to arrive but it will feel like a wee bonus now as it was so long ago. Nice one.
  6. LOL. I think the berating of the tuning device has gone way to far. We all know the risks so its our choice. If you dont want to risk it fine but Timoctav please shut up about it.
  7. Yea apharantly zavvi have the games at a more "normal" price. Phew, was panicking for a moment. Deveopers must be well on with making stuff for these new consoles so you would think we will know more soon about back to back direct comparisons between these two consoles. I would think that despite any real technical advantage that one console may have over the other would be irrelevant as surely games will be made equally for them both otherwise it means making two seperate versions of the same game?? or is this not the case?? If one console is more powerfull then an exclusive title may take advantage of that console full potential but surely it makes more financial sense to make games for each console hence why im assuming the games will be identical as they will just write the game to work on the lowest specced machine and then port it to the other machine.
  8. Just seen Amazon website. LOL. £599 for consoles and £89.99 for games. Sony and Microsoft have obvioulsy decided that they both dont want to sell any games from now on then. This cant be true otherwise its a goodbye from me and hello gaming PC. This is the last thing i want to do but at £89.99 they can forget it. Im kinda hoping this is just total speculation an amazons part but why on earth would they do this?? Madness.
  9. Wow Good post. I kinda suspected the processors in the new consoles wouldnt impress the pc guys but having a standard platform that games are optimised for makes a big difference. When i played on pc it seemed they always optimised the latest game for a processor and gpu just above mine. It got very tedious. I agree though the kinect thing sounds a bit pants. I always felt kinect was fir kids but they seem determined to ram it down our throats.
  10. So no-one really knows about the technical aspects of the 2 machines then?? Was hoping to get a fundamental and conclusive opinion on the hardware but i supose the proof of the pudding and all that. As others have said i just want a pure gaming machine and whichever does this best will win my vote. It does seem a lot of you do use your consoles for other forms of media which surprises me as i though most folk had SKY and PC's and smart TV's and ipads etc.
  11. Now both next gen consoles have been revealed and the specs seemt o be circulating the internet, what is the general consensus of the best gaming platform out of these two?? Im an Xbox man currently but have owned PS 1 and 2 in the past so im probably slightly if not a lot biased towards the Xbox. Seems the PS4 may edge it in hardware, i read somewhere that the PS4 has a slightly fater CPU and fatser ram i.e GDDR5 as opposed to DDR3 or something but then i read that the Xbox has 32mb ESRAM which i have no idea what that is. The biggest thing for me was that Xbox wil run windows meaning that the vast majority of games will be written on PC and be directly compatible with the Xbox and the PS4 games will then subsequently be a port. If this is true which, which it kinda makes sense, then the extra power of the PS4 is yet again overkill and wasted. It was my understanding that this is why the current consoles as virtually exactly the same as the xbox is easier to write games for. My main reason for wanting to stick with Xbox is that my gamerscore etc transfers over but if the PS4 was noticably better for gaming i would buy on eof those instead in a heartbeat. Im totally not interested in any other features both consoles promise as i have SKY tv and internet available through other mediums as do most people so im only wanting the best gaming machine. Dont say get a PC then as ive been there and done that years ago and i just prefer consoles now. ANy technology experts out there who can better explain the likely perfromance differences of these two new machines?
  12. I dont know the 1st thing about Islam so its hard to understand. Certainly the majority of terrorists lately seem to be doing so in the name of islam so there is at least a common theme. Yes there are terrorists from other religions and some just plain nut jobs but the vats majority are islamic fundamentalists. Why is this?? I dont know but Islam is certainly involved in the situation if not entirely to blame for it.
  13. I agree with some of this but not the fact that you think the EDL are brave. There is too much liberal passifism definately but the EDL is not the solution. Give the police the appropriate powers to do what is required as they will do it properly. The EDL are totaly misguided and will only make the problem worse.
  14. There are heaps of these radical clerics in the UK. What i cant understand is why do we not have the power to kick these nutters out of our own country? Why should Europe be able to tell us who we can and cant boot out? Nonsense. I would quite happily accept more intrusion in our private lives if it meant a slackening of this civil liberty exploitation. I have nothing to hide so people tapping my phone etc wouldnt bother me if it helped track down evil scumbags. Too much pussy footing about wih people treading on egg shells for fear of upsetting some bleeding heart liberal. The only people who should be against more powers for police to intrude into their personal life are the people with something to hide. A slight intrusion is a small price to pay if it prevents more brutal attacks in broad daylight on a public street.
  15. My "x" reg audi S3. Should never have traded it in so soon. Only car ive ever owned where i actually couldnt believe it was mine. Had the same feelings for my "M" reg Triumph speed triple.
  16. My old golf GTD had an official 0-62 of 8.3 against my VRS which is 8.5 so i would guess the new versions will be similarly close. Someone else posted a 0.6 secs differnce but i doubt it would be that much. Even if it is the standard 150bhp diesel hits 60 in around 8.5 but has considerably less torque than the new vrs 236 vs 280 ( or something ) so i know which car will be substantially faster in real terms.
  17. WOW. That was quick reactions. They way those scumbags ran at the car they definately had intent to harm the officers.
  18. Sounds about right. Revving the t---s of a car is fun ill admit but i have always been a lazy torque man myself. Even with my bikes. I always preferred my big v twins tripples or eveh my singles. Just personel prefrence i suppose. Guess i want the best of both worlds but its cheaper to enjoy the lazy torque. Given the choice id have a petrol car but circumstsnces have probably forced my opinions somewhat.
  19. Not wanting to start an argument but the footage on the news showed young agressive males hiding their faces behind scarves etc. If they were out suporting family members in the armed forces why cover their own face? Its pretty obvious why they were there. Any excuse to riot. And who were they actually rioting against? It hadnt been established at that point in time where the offenders affiliations lay. The EDL just made up their own minds and it was another excuse to kick off. Im note saying others from other religions etc wouldnt have done the same had the roles been reversed as it was only the EDL i saw on the news and the roles werent reversed so no point speculating.
  20. I only react to nonsense. 0-60 is not a good real world perfromance indicator IMO. Someone thought the 0-60 time was 7.5 but another pointed out it was actually 8.1. Whoopee doo. Hardly "dissapointing". Very very rarely indeed does a scenario occur where we need to accelerate from a standstill to 60mph as quickly as possible and id guarantee never has a situation arisen where by getting there 0.6 secs sooner made any difference. i Doubt anyone got the last chicken in Adsa because they had a golf GTD instead of a VRS. Also saying i bought the wrong car because i think 0-60 is irrelevant is also a tad silly. Im used to my cars having a certain level of grunt and the VRS is the only one that fulfilled that desire. Also other than the VRS and the scout i think the rest of the mk2 octavias look rubbish. The VRS was already cheap enough and saved me a fortune so i didnt need to make any more sacrifices. I think the new one with the 184bhp engine will be superb. I probably wouldnt consider buying one untill it was on some sort of VAT free deal like mine was though. Anyway no hard feelings to anyone who was offended as i didnt set out to cause offence but there certainly were some silly responses. For the record i also think the 1.2 is a cracking engine so why someone thinks im slating that one is a bit strange.
  21. Why was it only young males in tracksuits with hoods or balaclavas? I didnt see any females or older males, not hiding their faces, What have they got to hide if their intentions were peaceful? These are the same people who loot shops when there is a power failure. Scum.
  22. So why did they wear balaclavas? Peaceful protest my arese. Hoody wearing scumbags.
  23. As someone else posted...they didnt look very "islamic". Baggy jeans with the gusset down by their knees. Looked like a couple of wanabe gangstas although i didnt think gangstas drove tigras. I doubt we will ever really know their real motives or affiliations. The media will play the islamic terrorist card as it makes for good headlines and the govt likes its public to be scared of these things as it justifies their next incursion into someone elses country.
  24. Apologies for the Chav comment, was probably the wrong thing to say. What i really meant was that 0-60 is only relevant for racing. Id rather have better in gear acceleration than thew ability to get of the line quickly. An i agree if you like 0-60 then diesel probably isnt for u.
