  1. so, some scrotes nicked my Blaupunkt stereo the other night :irked: and yes I know I should have taken the removable face in the house. However... they CUT the damn power ISO connector (Block C) off. So now I'm trying to re-fit the original Symphony HU and I can't find anywhere that tells me what colour cables should go to each of the pins in the ISO block for power etc. (the Haynes manual doesn't mention these left-over cables either.) Please could someone check the following and identify the left-overs? 1 ? 2 ? 3 ? 4 Red/White - +12v Perm 5 (empty) 6 Grey/Blue - Dash Illumination 7 Yellow/Red - +12v Ignition 8 Brown - -12v Earth I have the following cables left: a thick red/white... (looks like another +12v) a thin blue/white... a thin grey/white... I don't actually care what they do, I just need to know which colour goes to which pin... Thanks for any assistance.
  2. My Elegance estate has rear speakers (Combi/Wagon is the estate, isn't it?) The standard rear speakers in the Estate are 4"x6" - I replaced the OEM with Kenwood KFC-4625C's
  3. if you mean the trim in the boot area then it's fairly simple to remove - I created a guide to replacing the rear speakers which covers most of it. Download it from here... http://www.tvrchimaera.plus.com/Skoda_ICE.pdf (924KB) Hope that helps.
  4. mine passed the re-test this morning after I put new front discs and pads on at the weekend. I would say another 12 months trouble free motoring, but my next service is going to have to include the cambelt - ouch!
  5. :P Also, if you use a little soap and water you can get that nice shiny white look back!
  6. I thought about it (your blue carriers came up REALLY good with a bit of Nitromors and elbow grease - almost looked like new!) but in the end I couldn't be bothered. My calipers are so pitted and flaky it would have taken ages to get them to a point where I could start painting them and I could only spare a few hours with the car off the road. If I'd bought replacement calipers as well as carriers I may have done... Thanks again.
  7. completed my upgrade this morning - took me two hours from start to finish. Thanks for everyone's advise and to auroan for the caliper carriers. do 288mm caliper carriers sell?
  8. I did a search and couldn't find this information so I took some photos when I undertook the task. Not sure if anyone would be interested but I created a pdf with step-by-step instructions and pictures... (925K) http://www.tvrchimaera.plus.com/Skoda_ICE.pdf
  9. Mine was replaced middle of last year under warranty, apparently it's such a common fault that Skoda extended the manufacturer's warranty by an extra 12 months just for that componant!
  10. Please don't berate me for a stupid question, but are the pads for a TT the same as the pads on my 4x4? I've bought auroan's carriers and nearly committed to buying a Mintex "Brake Box" for the Audi TT, before I stopped and thought "I know the discs will fit, but are the pads the same??" If not, can anyone recommend a reasonable combination of discs and pads (hoping not to spend more than about a ton)?
  11. Bought my Octy 4x4 Estate from Simpson's last March - very friendly and helpful. Numerous testdrives allowed (couldn't decide between a yellow vRS hatch and the white 4x4 estate) and even let me take a new vRS out while making my mind up! Had to go back this week for some electrical work which they have agreed to pay for even though there's no record of my car being registered for the 12m dealer warranty. Excellent service, would highly recommend.
  12. Just been told I need new front discs and pads to get my 4x4 through it's MOT and I fancy upgrading to the 312mm's - but can I find any 2nd-hand caliper carriers?? Anyone know anywhere that has any? (lol - too many "any"s) And what sort of price I should be paying? There are some on ebay from Spain at £110 including delivery - but compared to Diving Pete's £56 it seems a bit steep... Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
