  1. The average price across multiple sites for the value is around £8300 -£8450 but that price would not doubt reduce to around £8k as they will take money off for alloys and chips plus the scratches on the rear door. I have been looking for a silver st line diesel 1.5 for a little while as the choice of diesels is super low and I have looked at a lot of garages in Scotland but there are loads of the 1.0 ecoboost st lines but not the 1.5 diesels. The car is 200 miles away from me near Bradford but compared to prices here for example the same year of car here in Arnold Clarke was £16200 for an 18 plate 5k miles and the same car is £14500 in a ford dealer in bradford. I bought my vrs in preston in 2012 as it was £1800 cheaper than any dealer in Scotland.
  2. Hi, I am looking to change my car as I do over 90 miles a day traveling to work and back and I am looking to purchase a ford focus 2018 plate diesel st line 1.5 engine and the cost is £14500 for the car and I purchased mine brand new at £16400 in November 2012. They have offered £8k trade in for mine against the focus and I just wondered if you think this is a decent offer or not. My car had done 38000 miles and has full dealer service history the car is in good condition only 1 kurb mark on one alloy wheel and a couple of small scratches on rear passenger side door and the dealer knows about this. Forgot to mention alloy wheels could do with a repaint as they are starting to show there age. Here are a couple of pictures.
  3. I understand what you are saying it is an ex demo and has 2 years and 3 months left on it's manufacturing warranty and it is not the ST model looks like one as it is the ST line but with the less powerful diesel engine and a proper ST of the same age would be about £20k. I have not committed to anything so far just looking at different options and I just wondered how much my car would be roughly worth against the focus. Thanks for your advise so far. Here is what it looks like.
  4. I have only ever used my local skoda dealer for any past repairs and cant complain as anything that has been fixed has not needed to go back until now and the only cost so far to me in 6.5 years has only been this boost issue regarding the wiring. Yes I know what you mean and I do agree that they can create more issues than they resolve.
  5. I have been looking at buying a 9 month old focus st line diesel 74 mpg at £14k and 1.5k miles on the clock. The garage has offered £8k for mine so not to bad and I bought my car for £16400 new in Nov 2012. I have had two ford focus cars in the past only a few months old pre reg and saved quite a lot and they were very reliable and spent next to nothing in repairs and had them for 8 years. The main aim is buying something less than a year old that will last quite a few years and cheap to run but not cost the earth to buy as it will mainly be used for travel to my work and back home.
  6. Hi, I have a 62 plate vrs with full service history and it has only done 37k miles from new but in the last 5 months there have been a few different issues, gearbox out for new slave cylinder to be fitted and another wheel bearing fitted to rear drivers side wheel and the most recent one is three broken wires causing the boost pressure to vary and this happened 6 weeks ago. I have now noticed the same issue is back regarding boost pressure varying and a stutter when accelerating usually between 30 - 40mph and 60 - 70mph in 3rd gear and the engine management light is on again so I have booked the car in at my local skoda garage to have a look at it and hopefully it is not more wiring issues. All the repairs to my car except for the wiring have been covered by my extended warranty so the cost to me has been minimal but I just feel that the time has come to maybe move on and with traveling 90 miles a day in my new job it maybe time to look at a more reliable car and preferably diesel as I only get about 40 mpg if i take it easy. So I just wondered what your thoughts are on this situation.
  7. I had the same issue in winter time unit would not switch on until the car had warmed up and even then was very slow to respond to any button pressed. I contacted my local dealership and they tried a software update but nothing made a difference and they just changed it under warranty and I have had no issues again.
  8. I had one wheel bearing fail at 3K miles and the second one fail at 25k miles all done under warranty and I am so glad I took out the extended warranty. I think it is just your luck if it fails as I only drive 5k miles a year.
  9. I take it there is nothing on here that might help you out. http://www.parts.loc8apart.co.uk/nav/auto-part/Skoda/Octavia/Door-Cards.php
  10. My car passed it's first mot with flying colours and as I said above I have got the brakes sorted out.
  11. Thanks for getting back to me I got my local mechanic to strip down both back wheels and give everything a good clean and all seems well now. The biggest issue probably is the fact I only do around 5k miles a year and my work is less than a mile from my house, so my brakes are not really getting a work out especially the back ones as they do the least amount of braking, so I am going to start giving the brakes a good hard workout from time to time along the straights outside my town and some other members have mentioned on their threads about using the hand brake slightly along a straight road and this also helps keep the discs clean.
  12. Hi, My 62 plate vrs is at the dealers for it's first mot and 3rd service plus the brake fluid is being changed as well but they have discovered a noise coming from the rear drivers side wheel which needs looked at, should I just get them to look at it and maybe it only needs cleaned or have my own local mechanic do the job? Here is the video. https://video.citnow.com/vtfp_0GrQHX
  13. Hi, Have had a look on here. http://www.hills-motors.co.uk/breakers/skoda#list_top
  14. The price I have been quoted is £300 inc vat and I have had a car painted at this particular bodyshop a few years ago and they did a very good job and I spent ages looking around the car and could not find a fault. I am just off the phone to the boys grandfather and he is going to pay the £300 repair bill, so this looks like the road I am going to take and finally just move on. Things could have been worse if the boy had hit my car maybe a minute or so later as I would have been gone and none the wiser and then discovered the damage and had to pay the full cost of the repair myself.
  15. Hi, I will not be changing the wing as I don't want to risk problems with fitting and gaps plus the colour match would most likely not be right. I had three different pdr men look at the wing and they all said the same it would not look perfect as there are too many creases running in different direction across a large area of the wing and we did discuss this at great length. The cost to fix the wing and it still not being correct was not worth the cost of the pdr repair. I don't won't to get the wing painted but having spent weeks of time looking into this I feel the only answer is to get a body shop repair done at a cost of £300 including vat. The picture above does not show the true extent of the creases which are not very deep but are inwards and outwards on the wing and a small dent at the front light. If this could have been fixed by my local pdr man it would have been as I have said before he looked at it in great detail and once you look at the wing at an angle you would see what I mean. I have had a pm from a briskoda member who works in a bodyshop and he also agreed not to change the wing and leave the original wing in place and a bodyshop repair would be fine. Thank you for your post
