  1. Evening all. having spent hours trying to work out the max towing weight for my 2012 2.0L Diesel vRS Octavia Estate, I am still not convinced I know the full answer. I have the following weights on door plate. 1985kg 3385kg which I know means the maximum towable is 1400kg (also in the V5) Does this simply mean I am legally allowed to tow a caravan with MTPLM 1400kg and below? Can I buy a heavier caravan and just make sure I don’t load it full of stuff? I have seen a van which I like and it’s 1466kg. Next question is what is the 85% recommendation that I read about? sorry for the noob question but I can’t seem to get it clear in my head. thanks
  2. @Rallen Project looks good mate, thanks for the detailed info too. Iam currently change my head unit out and was wondering if anyone had tried swapping the aux for usb! So thanks for that in particular. I have got the Connects2 facia for my unit but it doesn’t seem to fit quite as nice as yours is. Was there any reason you went for the facia you did and was this the one? https://incartec.co.uk/product/Skoda-Octavia-Yeti-audio-fascia How you enjoying the head unit? thanks again. richie
  3. Evening all. Does anyone have any experience with Connects2 Facia kits for the Octavia? I'm currently replacing the Bolero Head Unit from my 2012 Vrs with a Kenwood 7017, but unsure of which facia is required. Appears to be 2 choices. CT24SK07 CT24SK09 One company say I need the 07 and another say the 09. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
  4. Hi, yeah I have had a phone connected until last week when I upgraded my phone but unable to pair the new one or any others. Seems to be no option to search for phones or anything.
  5. Hi there. having searched the forums and not found any similar issues I have stated this thread. Skoda Octavia 2011 VRs with Bolero system and Bluetooth. I am unable to pair a new mobile phone. Selecting phone on the head unit simply says no connected users. During the first 3 minutes of turning ignition on the phone does not pick up the bolero system so Iam now stuck. Having following the instructions in the manual and tried multiple phones I am thinking the Bluetooth unit has a fault. Does any have similar issue or can offer any advice to further fault find? Many thanks in advance
  6. Hi mate are these still available? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  7. Hi. Just checked mine and here are the photos. The selected gear lights up brighter. Possibly faulty on yours by the looks. Hope you get something sorted with it. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  8. I'll try mine tomorrow ...I have a 2 litre tdi Octavia dsg. .. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Well I finally picked the car up from bristol street motors on Friday. Timing belt adjusted by soda Rainford as they found it to be out. So now I have the peace of mind that the timing is right. However it still dosnt seem to drive quite right. I also noticed when I picked the car up my bonnet was covered in bird muck, not fresh either as I tried to wipe it off it wouldn't budge! I was not impressed to say the least and so rang the garage this morning to inform them of my findings. After expressing my disappointment of having my car handed back in this condition and the fact it still isnt running quite right I informed the guy that my next course of action would be as follows. I will be taking the car to a local independent soda specialist to test the car out and report any findings causing issues including a quote for repairs if needed. This will include trying to find the cause if my leaking door. I will be getting a local quote for the re-diamond briting of my bonnet as the bird muck will have invalidated the guarantee. If nothing if found to be wrong with the vehicle then I will foot the bill for investigating but if faults are found then bristol street will foot the bill for all work needed to put the car right. He agreed to this and re-iterated that they want me to be happy with the car and due to the distance it only right to get it done locally in Lincoln. I have asked for this in an email so they can't go back on their word if faults are found. He is emailing me this in Monday so as soon as this is received I will be getting it booked in. The guy has been nice and helpful but I just think it's down to a bit of in experience that the faults aren't being found. I feel I have been very reasonable with them but now it's about time it's gets sorted once and for all. Hopefully this week will bring some better news. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  10. Well finally some good news from bristol street motors today. They took the car into Rainford Soda dealership and had them take a look. The dealership confirmed timing was out and have re adjusted as needed. Hopefully this will sort the issues out. I say good news but in a way it's bad as I've been driving it for 5 weeks with the timing out. Would this be likely to have caused any damage? Did about 1500 miles. The car is still with bristol street motors as they are looking a leaky door seal. Fingers crossed I'll be picking up a fault free Octavia on Friday. Will keep the post up to date Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  11. This could be a great help. Thanks very much. I will wait to see the outcome of what Bristol Street Motors say and then take it from there. I'll keep this thread updated and pm you if I head your way If that's ok? Do you have a lot experience with timing belts etc then? I see you have a good post count in the vcds and diagnosis section. Thanks again. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  12. Yeah sorry I should have stated from the start. It's the 2.0 tdi 140 pd I think with dsg gearbox. I'm thinking that I will have a fight on my hands with these as I know for sure they don't have a vag com machine. I plugged my free version in and pulled up four controllers reporting faults. I have added this issue onto the work required by them as well and they told me they don't have a vag com so will have to take it to a Skoda dealer or indy. Will be an interesting start to the week next week to see what they say. Thanks to everyone who is replying on this thread, it's good to get some advice from other vag owners. 13. Yeah the car is an 07 plate so was due the change last year. It is strange how it's only UK that go with these recommendations Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Yeah I checked with Skoda hq about the interval and they confirmed by my chassis number that it should be 4 years or 76000 miles which ever comes first. The dealer wasn't impressed when I informed them of this and they had to honor the 'full service history' part of the car. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Well. The car was dropped off this morning. Had a phone call 5 hours later saying that they have test driven the car and it all seems fine and drives very punchy! Must be the magic technician. I asked the service guy if they checked the timing was correct and if so how. He replied yes they checked by listening, looking and test driving it to confirm to timing Is correct. Now I'm no expert but I don't suppose this is the recommended technique for diagnosis of a timing fault. Can you check the timing without the use of vcds? They are keeping the car until Monday so they can try starting it from cold to see if it is struggling in the mornings as I stated. If they still say it's all fine I will be taking it for a test drive with them in the passenger seat and then insisting on a second opinion. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 Thanks very much for this info... Could be very useful.
  17. Thaks very much for reply, the car is booked in for Friday so will see what they say. The car has only done 19000 miles. Is this a bit low for the clutch to fail? It's is the dsg model so obviously abit more to go wrong. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  18. Yeah I asked them about the second opinion and the fact they could just say it's nothing to do with the cambelt..... To this they quoted the whole trading standards policy and that they are not a back street garage. Think I will get it into a vag indy beforehand. Can anyone recommend any the Lincoln area? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Hi guys. Thanks for all the responses. I got the car from Bristol Street motors. Have booked it in for next Friday for them to look at it stating the issues I am having since cambelt change. They warned me that they would charge a £72 inspection fee if the fault is nothing to do with them changing the cam belt. Is there an easy way to check if the timing is definitely out? And would a vag specialist charge me much to do this? Is there any other reason that the timing would be out apart from the timing belt being incorrectly fitted? Many thanks so far. 20. Hi guys. I picked up my Skoda Octavia mk2 about 6 weeks ago. Before signing the deal I double checked the service and the fact they changed the cambelt as I requested, and they hadn't, so I had it booked in for them to do it. 2 weeks later I dropped the car off and the cambelt was changed (with water pump too at my expense) since the change the car has been acting up. *Failing to start in the mornings (turns over a couple of times at 500 rpm then dies) *Sometimes very un-responsive in that I will put the gas on, rev counter rises but a massive delay in acceleration (3 secs) *Also can be cruising along and then the revs will suddenly shoot up *Not very smooth when pulling away due to the un responsiveness *Noticed a massive drop in MPG, nice long journey on dual carriage way with a max speed of 75 and sensible driving I get 42 mpg. Normally early 50s I have an extended warranty on the car so will be booking it in but just wondered if anyone could relate these issues to a bad cambelt change. I did express my concern to the service dept when they told me that it took them 6.5 hours to do the cambelt (book time is 3.5) due to the guy not being very experienced on these cambelts! 21. Thanks. How about the interface? Will it display on my maxidot for phone calls etc.? Any more Info on the postcode search? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Hi there. Does any one know if this will fit my mk2 57 plate Octavia? Also does it search by postcode? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  23. Hi there. I'll take it. Shall I pm you? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  24. Hi there. Any photos taken yet? I am interested in this and would like to see the swivel mounting plate. Thanks Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  25. Oh right. That explains it then. Thanks Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
