  1. I've now found some side repeaters on eBay for £8 which is way more than I believe them to be worth, so I'll just mastic the old ones back in to save some pennies. The speaker project shall be put on hold until I get the tonneau cover as the way the weather's going I'm not sure they'd last long otherwise. I'm having to slow down on work and the funds are running dry atm. TBC.
  2. Whilst looking through websites for breakers since I'm trying to get a new side repeater for the drivers wing (which are now obsolete) I noticed that underneath the side compartments at the front of the bed there are side panels exactly the same as the ones in the back, where you've mounted your speakers I'm now contemplating mounting them behind here so that they're more protected from the elements and there's no chance of destroying them with any cargo. as far as the amp's concerned I'm still undecided. I've got all the kit. just need to figure a way to mount. I've decided against the 12" sub due to space restrictions :p I can report however That The Fun is now on the road and I'll be updating pics soon!
  3. I agree, trying to explain its a 4 seater, but not a twin cab and it's kind of a car but more of a pick up, and no It's my prized possession I won't be using it to haul anything especially hazardous materials, there's only 614 ever made and probably only 300 on the road I'm going to look after this as if it's my child, NO I never said I want limited mileage, I never said it's a show car, stop putting words into my mouth. Are you sure it's not an import...? You modified it for the extra seats... that doesn't sound like standard to me.... I had a great day of phone calls yesterday :p
  4. Thanks, I finally managed to get a company to cover me last night, still more than I wanted to pay, but It was that or not have the car on the road and well, frankly that wasn't an option :p
  5. Well I've finally got the Fun ready to go on the road and thought I'd give these guys a ring... Their quote was over double the lowest quote that I'd gotten pushing it well over the £1,000 mark. I'm having real issues trying to find an insurance company to cover me in the fun and trying to explain I won't be using it for haulage is a major task. Any other fun owners out there got any success stories as far as insurance is concerned?
  6. It couldn't have been me, there is however another fun kicking about in Carlisle, now that my friends are aware I've got one as my newest project they keep sending me congratulatory texts saying they saw me on the road. soon! soon I shall be on the road! just one more week (this seems to be my mantra at the moment)
  7. 3) mattelly2 april 1999 (T Plate) 73K on the clock. Currently undergoing "restoration" when finished... fresh lick of paint, new wings, raptor roll-on bed liner to replace the wood which had rotten, skoda badges replaced with autobot badges (after all it is a transformer), rear speakers also mounted in back with the helpful advice from RainbowFire. Truckman top with glass also and currently trying to source a tonneau cover.
  8. I've recently purchased a Fun and the current sound system is slightly lacking in power and quality, I have an alpine head unit and the s type speakers for the doors and two 6x9's I was thinking of installing the 6x9's in the truck walls as seen in the pic here. ( http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee518/Dark_Passenger/Selling%20up/th_20120728_175629.jpg ) But I have slight reservations as to issues with them being external and open to all the elements... anyone have any experience in externally mounting speakers and do's and don'ts? I have an amp too that If I can find a suitable place to mount it I may connect, but atm it'd just be straight from the headunit. Any help would be much appreciated. Mark
