  5. A friend here in Spain bought one about a year ago, it's been brilliant. He's driven up to Switzerland in it twice, done a touring holiday in France achieved something knocking on 70mpg and his respect of it is growing by the week. Got to say as a passenger it's a good smooth ride. His wife was telling me, she does tend to exaggerate, that 30% of all new cars registered in France last year were Dacias........get ready for the invasion Regards all Juan Sent from my iPhone using my thumbs
  6. I often leave a car either in the UK or Spain parked up for up to three months at a time, if I'm leaving one for around four weeks I don't do a thing, any longer than that I disconnect the battery. The only slight problem I ever have is a few extra revs needed when first driving off to release the handbrake, I then drive for 200/300 metres with slight pressure on the footbrake to clear surface rust off the discs.....then back to normal Regards all Juan Sent from my iPhone using my thumbs
  7. Them manual rear windows and lack of power socket in the boot have a dramatic effect on mpg........get electric rear windows and a power socket retro fitted and you'll be touching 60mpg with no sweat, as long as the aircons working that is Regards all Juan Sent from my iPhone using my thumbs
  8. Just being nosey, why do you want to know? Regards all Juan Sent from my iPhone using my thumbs

  16. I booked my 1.6TDI 7 speed DSG in for an oil and filter on the gearbox a couple of months ago, later in the day the garage called me to say they had cancelled the booking as this was not required on my car, it has done 40,000 miles. I contacted Skoda who confirmed that it was a maintenance free unit. Regards all Juan Sent from my iPhone using my thumbs
  17. I phoned DW a few months ago to book my car in for a DSG oil/filter 40,000 service. I found them very professional. Later that day they phoned me back to inform me that my DSG gearbox did not require the service, I contacted Skoda who confirmed this. I will use then going forward based on this Regards all Juan
  18. Why should pay rises keep pace with inflation? Wasn't it trying to make everyone feel wealthy with cheap credit, tax credits, excessive numbers of civil servants that got us in this mess in the first place? Regards all Juan
  19. Hi Col, I hope you get it sorted and it doesn't involve you having to spend the savings you have "banked" Regards all Juan
  20. From threads on this and other forums it would also appear that using "non franchised" servicing results in zero contributions to failures that may happen out of the guarantee period. To me the £50 more a service at a dealer costs is a good investment in the long run. Regards all Juan
  21. Hi George......are you sure that you need a licence to deal in used cars? It's something I've never heard of. Is it a law in Scotland and not England? Regards all Juan
