  1. Thanks guys. Yes I think a 230 or 245 would be good. I’ve had one FR and a Cupra K1 Revo before so have done the Seat thing and want a bit of a sleeper wagon this time that looks quite cool with a quick turn of speed when you ant it. As mentioned I do like the V60 Polestar option but it’s a 500 quid tax option which is a bit over the top for a family wagon at this point for me. I also think the Skoda boot size is almost unrivalled?!
  2. Ok boys I appreciate your comments here. It’s luring me in a little more as this should be my next wagon of choicevwith a touch of performance. Yes I do love the way the Ti Wagons look- I’ve had 2 now- a 1750 TBi and now a 2 litre oil burner. The Busso is staying for sure (its garaged in the winter to keep it out of the cold) so want a petrol estate with a bit of poke. Have considered a Volvo V60 Polestar (I test drive one and it’s quick) but it’s 500 on road tax which, with the GT would be quite a hefty extra outlay for something to drive mostly at weekends. So back to the Octy, if I can’t get a 245, would a 230 work well either as standard or with a cheeky slice of Revo Tecknik stage 1 mapping? Meteor (undercoat Grey) or Moon White would be my choice. Thanks! iain
  3. Thanks for your thoughts and yes it’s a shame as the Giulia saloon is superb. I have got a GT V6 3.2 that I intend to keep long term so can still keep my hand in the Alfa stable it sounds like a nearly new one may be a good shout then. My 159 wagonis a nice spec but I bought it with 106k on the clock (now 112k). They are rare but I reckon I’ll get about 4-5k for it. Repayments have to be under 300 quid a month. Hoping to get something good over 60 months with a 6k deposit
  4. Hi all. I’ve posted the same on the Superb forum but thinking the Octy might be a little bit more sporty option wise. i currently run an Alfa 159 TI Sportwagon which a great looking car but it’s now 7 years old and I need a replacement performance estate that works with 2 boys under 9 and golf clubs. I like something different and before Alfa’s I had time with Seat Cupras and a Golf R32 mk5 so have experienced the VW brand and the TFSI engine with a Revo fettle. Was considering a vRS 245 Octavia and like the look of a moon white one or a Seat Leon Cupra 300 4WD. I’ve done the Seat thing before and think with a good LSD the vRS would be good for a daily drive? Can anyone tell me what the handling is like and (10k miles per year max) what these are like to live with? cheers, iain

Can anyone tell me what the handling is like and as an every day driver (10k miles per year max) what these are like to live with? cheers, iain
  6. Test drove a candy white TFSI vRS this morning. Alcantara interior. Really liked it. Now on the hunt for a low mileage race blue one:0) it could be a wait right enough as want xenons and manual. Let's see how the search goes:0)
  7. Hi there. I had a Revo map done on my Cupra before and it didn't affect my warranty as it was something my dealer put on for me. If I got one on a vRS would it affect warranty? Is there a dealer that would put this on? Cheers!
  8. Going petrol and will probably look to get a Revo visit in at some point :0)
  9. I like your thinking! She'll be driving the Octy during the week and I can chop her Golf in for a weekend bit on NA entertainment! Problem solved:0) I will need a car pretty much straight away after selling mine though so not sure how long ordering a new one would take. Might have to settle for very low mileage and close to my spec. Test drive on Tuesday :0)
  10. Predictive text...a joy sometimes... That should read xenons above :0)
  11. Hi. Thanks for thoughts and the more I mull it over the more I think a new/nearly new Octy with Alcantara and Clemons would be great all round wise. I can always remap later to keep me intrrested once the warranty runs down. Do the alcantara seats come with heated option or just with full leather? The noise of that v6.., very addictive. Something tells me that the all rounder is a good place to with 2 boys under 4 yrs even if I use the car for the commute during the week. Cheers.
  12. Ok so I sold my 159 yesterday and will have £10k to put down on something. Shortlist as follows and I am torn:0)- 1. Golf R32 5 door- had one before and loved the noise from the v6 but not sure the mk5 shape does it for me 2. Alfa giulietta cloverleaf 1750 3. Octavia vRS estate. Budget is around 17-18k max. The thing tha really draws me about the skoda is the new ones are being offered at 20% vat free and 500 extra deposit off from skoda. Also free 3 year servicing and warranty. I guess I could have my own spec in leather/ heated seats/xenons etc. very appealing time to buy with the extras and with 2 little ones under 4 a race blue estate could be the best of the 3 options?? I loved the Alfa interior though and with 10k mileage a year now am torn as to what to go for. They all have pluses and minuses. Heart says golf and head says space and performance. Ahhhh maybe that final test drive will do it:0)
  13. I think I need to properly test drive the vRS in estate form. You're right I will be careful on how much to spend. Still would like leather and heated. Xenons would be nice but are the halogens not quite bright anyway? Should this get me a nice low mileage one do you think? Just looked closer and the black line comes in diesel only so ruling out. The other thing I have now that I like would be steering wheel controls. Is that an option on nearly new ones? Thanks for all the advice so far! Appreciated.
  14. So I decided to approach a dealer and see if I could get a good price on a new vRS today and he mentioned the Blackline option- VAT freee deal and a £500 deposit chucked in meaning they are wanting £17300 for a brand new one. Sounds like a good deal but in reality I think a standard vRS in Race blue with leather seats would do me. I am trying to find a nice one with/without xenons(I take it the halogen lamps as standard are quite bright anyway?). Budget is nearer to £14k. Should get me a nice example with low mileage?? Thanks!
  15. OK boys your a bad influence! I'm thinking of holding out for the right spec one. There appears to be a lot of chat surfacing on the new mk3 next year so it might be time for me to negotiate hard and get a low mileage vRS mk2 this year with xenons and as my Australian mate calls them...'arse warmers' retrofitted or with full leather. I guess warranty could come with these for a couple years too? I'd be keen to run a stock one for a bit to enjoy it and then make a call in to Revo for a bit of stage 1 action. I bet it's a nice performing wagon mapped. I had a Cupra K1 Revo'd before i bought the Alfa but i think the vRS is the same as the FR?

  17. Hello. I have just registered on this forum mainly because I am looking at performance estates and although it could be a slightly biased viewpoint I am seeking abit of reassurance/advice on what to look for. I currently drive an Alfa 159 Ti 2.4 jtdm saloon. It's a bit of pride and joy and I love the looks however we now have 2 youngsters and boot space is imperative.I was looking at the 159 Sportwagon, but they don't have an engine that tickles my fancy. It's either 1750cc or 2.4 again which is a bit of a heavy lump. I still want a bit of performance though and looking at my 58 plate Alfa it's really well spec'd and I think I can get a good trade in price for a relatively low mileage vRS petrol. What are people's thoughts on what I am thinking? The vRS estate looks great value for money and I am sure I won't feel it's a downgrade from the Alfa. I would even be tempted by a revo map later too to add some clout. I was doing around £17k miles last year so the diesel was working out however now looking at 7-8k so the need for a diesel isn't as great and would like to go back to petrol. The trouble is, I only have 2 main extras that are a must- blue tooth and heated front seats :0) Not many of the cars I have seen offer full leather and heated seats, so I called a dealer last week and he called back to say they can retro-fit heated seats for me. Not sure if this is something most dealers can do easily or whether this dealer is going out of his way for a sale. He's a little way from me but it might be worth the journey to get the spec I am looking for. Cheers, Iain
