Cracked front fog light, again.
gibbon12 replied to islandhoppers's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
My brand new Octavia Blackline got a smashed fog light within a week of use. Not happy with how much I'm having to pay for a replacement to be fitted, so i need to look at some means of preventing it happening again. -

Why do you say you're not suprised? -
Blackline niggles............

Thanks for these replies. i don't expect to be doing more than 10K per year, at least for the first couple of years so I'll ask to get it changed. The salesman didn't even discuss annual milage with me. i don't quite get it with these long service plans - they seem to be totally geared around oil changes but surely there are other components that need to be looked at more frequently than every 20K miles. E.g. brakes. -
Blackline niggles............

I've only had my Blackline for about a week and i'm loving it. It performs much better than any car I have owned before and the consumption is pretty good. I'm very impressed by the music system, especially the quality of the sound and the way it plays music from an SD card. But there are a few niggles that I need to speak to the dealer about... 1) Fuel filler cover does not depress shut as it should. It can take up to about 10 attempts before it finally latches. 2) SatNav maps don't appear to be up-to-date - there is a major road in Derby that has been there for a couple of years now and the Nav does not know of it. I need to ask if an update is available. 3) Service schedule. According to the servive book I was given at hand-over my next service is due at 20,000 miles. That seems an awful long way away. And with such a long servive interval the 3years/30,000 miles of free servicing will only cover 1 service? That seem like a con. 4) Also It seems like an exercise in penny-pinching that there is no red triangle in the boot. -
I haven't even applied for finance yet. I only want to borrow about £4000 and I don't mind seeing out the full 24 months. There's no way I want to borrow 50% (I.e. about £8000). I signed up on the basis that I would be borrowing £4000 from Skoda and that's what my order form says. I hope I don't end up having to have a disagreement with the dealer and asking for my deposit back.

I've been told by my dealer to expect mine (white estate) late next week. If its any later than that then the dealer may have an issue because I shall be abroad for a fortnight and wont be able to pick it up until I get back. Apparently Skoda have a 10 day rule meaning the dealer must deliver it to the buyer within 10 days of receiving it. Otherwise Skoda get suspicious about the dealer stockpiling cars with the 20% vat discount in order to sell them on at a later date. We'll see what happens over the next few days. If I must pick the car up just before going on holiday i,'ll be concerned about having to leave it unattended on the drive for the first 2 weeks of me owning it!

I’m starting to get a bit frustrated with my wait. I ordered a white estate back on 23 Aug and I still haven’t been given a firm date. Initially I was told end Sept and this later went back to 2nd week of Oct. Also, the dealer still hasn’t confirmed if I will be getting the £500 deposit contribution. Initially they said I could have the 3 years servicing but not the £500. I wasn’t comfortable with that decision so I rang another dealer and also Skoda Customer Service and both said I should get the £500 contribution. What’s more everyone else on here appears to be getting it. To top it all, some of the prices/deals being mentioned on here are better than mine. The only thing I’m happy about with my deal is the trade-in price for my car. Starting to get a bad impression of my dealer.

I just checked on skoda.co.uk and it looks like the content regarding the Octavia Blackline has been updated (correct me if I'm wrong). It mentions that it "will be on sale from 17th September" I'm also interested to see that the Skoda finance deal mentions the free servicing but not the £500 contribution

I was told end September when I ordered mine 2 weeks ago. Time's dragging :(

I ordered a white estate with the standard 2.0 engine (not DSG). I liked the look of the blue but couldn't imagine it with black wheels. Also the white comes at no extra cost. I've heard that there are only 500 Blacklines available and that got me wondering how 'unique' my car will be. And which will be the most popular colour and body-styles. 2 body styles (hatchback, estate) 3 colours (white, blue, black) 4 different engines (all 2.0 diesel) I have seen more comments from people saying that they have gone for the standard white rather than the blue or black. Not sure whether most people will go for estate or hatchback though.

Thought I'd better join the forum because I just ordered a blackline last week. Never owned a Skoda before but really looking forward to it. There's been some confusion about whether the blackline qualifies for the Skoda finance offer (£500 contribution + 3yrs servicing). if anyone knows for sure I'd be greatful if you could let me know.
