  1. I didn't even see the diagnostics forum! Very helpful everyone. As the registered version of VCDS lite seems to be free then I can't go wrong spending £6.69 on a VAG cable! Sure it will be useful some other time too. Cheers!
  2. Hi, I have recently been contemplating fitting cruise control to my MK1 estate. I spend most weekends travelling so do a lot of dull motorway driving. Anyway I have no problems with the installing & wiring. However last time I took my car to the local garage to get them to check & reset a fault code it cost me £60 for 'Fault checking and the tool' or words to that effect. Anyway if it costs this much again I may as well get a garage to install it for me! A mate told me I could probably get a lead off ebay, but the only way I see is by using RossTech's VCDS software which seems a bit steep for the odd tinker (you can reset service intervals without so why bother!?) Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I wonder what other people do if they get a fault code/want access to ECU? Cheers.
