  1. MOT day arrived. First time the car has been driven on the road for 3 years or so, some gremlins appeared, engine keeps throwing the above cam timing code every few starts, but made it to the mot and got a pass, albeit with an advisory to check the brakes (new pads binding we thought) got back and decided to a couple of logging runs with nitroVRS , check the map, after the first run and braking heavily the brakes came on and stayed on. waited a half hour, they released enough to drive home. bit gutted, no more driving till fixed, stripped the master cylinder and found this brake servo fallen to bits inside, pushing the brake master on and not allowing the fluid to return! new one on me........ ever tried to change a brake servo with out removing the engine? what a mare! Found a (super clean) replacement from evilbay, £10 + delivery, awesome! mine was pretty mangy looking so like new now. did some more runs (with NitroVRS on his laptop again), had an overboost/compressor surge issue, map has been tweeked back, also retro fitted a vvt actuator to the APY to clear the cam retard fault code, improved running as well. so now running and driving :-) Sleeper VRS? we guestimating about the 270-280bhp mark, I had a 300 bhp Subaru GTB previously, and this is way faster! awesome grip, brakes are stonking! the thing that strikes most is the top gear roll on, don't need to drop it down! how chuffed am I :-D things left to do, finish the centre console gauge install, tidy the breather system, solve the downpipe hitting the tunnel issue, I think the tunnel in the TT is bigger my TT downpipe is hard on it most of the time, will be going aftermarket with a 3 inch 200 cell cat most likely
  2. fitted a gss340 today following all the good hints and tricks from here thanks very much :-) I modded the pump pick up slightly and the filter on the base, pump mod did this to sit it low in the base and still pick up from the swirl pot filter mod, the pipe i have cut off and blocked with a screw would allow unfiltered fuel into the pump inlet correct wire positions using the walbro red/black flying leads, just incase..... pic of the multiple fuel inlets on the standard pump stock pump vs tiny walbro
  3. update time, lots of help from nitrovrs the last few tidy up jobs.......... drop links, bit of a guess on these as the stock ones were way long, these are Mercedes, about 11 inches ish eventually got to light free dash, the N75 had a break in the engine loom, and the secondary lambda heater was open circuit still had an abs light, was the left front abs sensor. Ran into an issue with the centre exhaust hanger, because the cat is from a TT 4x4, it sits lower, and forces the mid section to sit slap in the middle of the hanger/brace, had to lose that, so have mocked up a replacement to get the dimensions right..... this will need making good, and nitrovrs doesn't like the clamps, he wants me to V band it...... :wonder: So So want to drive it now but waiting on a map, the mapper was waiting for a clean VCDS scan which we now have bar a fault code for the vvt (because the APY hasn't got VVT) the car has a resistor on the solenoid but obviously isn't seeing the cam timing change so getting 16396 (Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake): Advance Setpoint not Reached (Over-Retarded)) confident this will map out, then MOT time! soon I hope........
  4. Some bigger Images from nitrovrs......... I didn't hold it that square but it was tricky with so little access............ post weld, went with a satisfying little snap!! here she is as stands.....now drives and has brakes! well happy.......
  5. HahAAAAA! I have one just like that! Cheers J!!! Thank god was having mastercylinder replacement night mares!!!
  6. More major disaster, sheared an easy out off in the bleed nipple! Broke my own rule......never ever use an easy out in a brake nipple, even a snap-on one ....never ever works!
  7. Minor disaster, Sheared the brake master cylinder forward bleed nipple, did the oooo that's a bit tight, just a bit more...think it's going....tink!!! damnit Jim!
  8. IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!! first time first turn, here we go!! no water, intake plumbing or gearbox oil so she wasn't allowed to run on..........
  9. i would guess 260-270? no more than that without custom manifold and 3 inch down pipe etc........
  10. Where we up to now update....Have now dared put the electrics back on.No smoke, I purchased a matched set of ecu, consumer unit and clocks which i was a little nervous about, all working fine though, haven't turned the engine over yet, just want to get the intake plumbing finished up before risking it, so that's where i am at the mo, sorting the intercooler mounting pipes and vac pipes, N75 etc, brakes all finished, interior finished bar a gear stick gaiter, exhaust still required from the TT twin cat back (side pipe possibly??), I will take some pics soon, it's got dusty in the garage and looks a bit shameful at the mo, but feeling the buzz of getting close to a runner now, can't happen fast enough! Been 3 years with a VW sharan after my cough...Subaru Twin turbo (shhhh I Know!), How I miss corners and the ability to go around them! Stuff left to get, Some 2.5 inch boost pipe, the exhaust, the Custom map, (already talked to the big fishy ones) wow, is that all? see! must get on! laterzzzz! PS, I have driven this car before, years ago I drove it back (was totally stock)for it's previous owner on a road trip to collect a (very nice) skyline, me and the VRS came to a good understanding chasing the skyline for an hour or two, really looking fwd to it in it's new guise....
  11. I need RH drivers side air vent, the plastic cable conduit from the engine bulkhead down to the battery tray and the lh front indicator if avialable :-) could also do with the front lambda if it's still good......oh and the gear stick gaiter??
  12. wheels.............! clear the Porsche calipers easily.........
  13. ha ha ok I found another connector, it got tucked under the oil filter housing, so that is the 'D' for knock two I assume, which leaves the other square as N112 I think
  14. great piece that, is there any harm in going to atmosphere with the final hose from the oil catch, instead of back to the tip? my old school experience with bikes etc, is to stop the crank case gasses from being re-breathed by the engine....... at the cost of some oil smell on occasion
