  1. Ah, I wasn't aware they offered it to schools.. handy to know. The other thing to consider might be the free trial of Microsoft Azure and let M$ handle the VM.
  2. Dreamspark/MSDNAA is definitely the way to go, but as far as i'm aware its normally reserved for higher education and its the institute that registers not the individual.
  3. Had this conversation with Gartner recently as we were going to evaluate our AV because MS were offering us their Endpoint Protection (Security Essentials for Enterprise) for free. Gartner ranked Kaspersky as the best AV on the market with McAfee (our current offering) as second. They actually said the MS solution performs really poorly and lacks many of the features of the big AV players. It will get better, but it would be a bad choice at the moment. Saying that, i have relied on essentials at home for years with no problems.
  4. Just found this, one of the maddest project threads i've seen! Absolutely love it!!
  5. Easy to understand if you think about it a slightly different way. This is the best explanation i have come across; So in terms of brakes, if you had a small brake disc and a large brake disc, the large disc could create the same friction with less pressure on the piston because the force is distributed over a larger area. If you applied the same pressure (mass) as the smaller piston on the large piston then the friction would be much higher... actually i'm not sure that makes any sense! I think my brain might have just melted!
  6. I don't know many people that can afford to live on their own down here. House/Flat shares are much more common. I would hate to live on my own, I have a house mate who is some company and helps with costs. To give you an example of current rental prices around me, I charge £575 pcm for my spare double room. A 2 bed flat will probably set you back around £1000 to £1300 pcm for one you would actually want to live in. Houses are more expensive again.
  7. I live just south of Heathrow in Weybridge, the areas immediately surrounding Heathrow are not that great. Slightly further afield you have some of the most affluent areas in the UK. If you are coming from oop north, like i did 3 years ago expect a shock. The cost of living is considerably higher and rental prices are a bit mental! As has already been said, definitely go for the interview! If not just for the experience. You should get a London weighting to your salary that would help with the added cost of living. Wouldn't they cover travel expenses? I don't think i have ever been to a job interview where i wasn't reimbursed.

    Movember

Not this year, did it last year and hated it!
  9. I joined GiffGaff yesterday, super easy process and number all transferred over by simply filling in an online form. Impressed so far. Once a phone i actually want comes to market i will probably go back to O2 on contract. But as none of the current generation phones do very little more or better than my HTC One X there is no point ****ing money up a wall. If anyone wants to join GiffGaff use this and we both get a fiver http://giffgaff.com/orders/affiliate/apinner
  10. Well space might be a limitation. Its horses for courses, if you can get a massive filter that will fit with no problem then happy days, or you can use two smaller filters instead.
  11. Well that's just cheap eBay chinese tat. However, air filters do have an airflow/horsepower rating, after which point the filter starts to become a restriction. All this is doing is increasing the surface area of the filter so you can filter more air. Large turbo chargers can move an incredible amount of air!
  12. All repaired! £15 is certainly a lot cheaper than the cost of a new 245/35/18 runflat! Cheers all!
  13. 335d is 280bhp standard.. Be wary about the MSport version if you value ride comfort. I can't speak for the 3 series, but my 123d MSport is like granite! Means its brilliant on the twisties and is fine on the motorway, but around town it will knock the wind out of you. However, this is my first BMW and i have to say it will not be my last, just brilliant cars.
  14. It was this video that made me think of the forester; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6-ERc-DfhA
  15. I always thought vehicles like the L200 and Navara were 'agricultural' at best! Horrible to drive, handle badly, loads of road noise, terrible economy and questionable safety? I've not owned one of said trucks but echoing what I have heard about them. http://www.euroncap.com/tests/nissan_navara/317.aspx What about something like a forester?
  16. Watched this last night, one of the best cars there has ever been on Big Muscle! I think this is my favourite from BM
  17. I have done mine recently, I spent ages looking at all of the different options and I ended up paying for ancestry. It really is a brilliant tool! It isn't cheap, but you can achieve a huge amount in a short space of time and then export it out.
  18. Yeah i was watching that bit and instantly recognised it as Cadwell park!
  19. Went to see it tonight. Absolutely superb film!! Definitely one to see at the cinema if you get chance!
