I think this is correct, I passed my test nearly 20 years ago & was never taught to down gear when slowing down. Also not told to leave the car in gear when parked. Don't know if it was just my instructor or not, but my wife passed in 2007 & she was taught the same way (by a different instructor). However I have now devleoped the habbit of leaving in gear whenever parked.

Had a rather unsettling experience with my new (2 month old) VRS this evening. Parked up at nursery car park facing downhill at the top of a slight incline & sat in driver's seat while my wife went in to collect our daughter. Waited about 10 mins with no incident. As they came out & approached the car I got out & opened the rear passenger door ready to put the little one in & as I turned round, to my horror, saw my pride & joy (that's the car) slowly begin to slide away from me down the slope. Instictively threw out a hand & grabbed the C pillar to try & halt it, to no avail. Dashed round to the driver's side as the car was steadily picking up speed, flung the door open, leaped in & hit the foot brake. Thankfully the car came to a stop with the front end about 2 feet from a brick wall. In hindsight it was a bit of a stupid place to park considering the car park was covered in ice, just glad I'm not taking the only new I've ever owned back to the dealer for a new front end Won't ever make that mistake again!

Just picked mine up today. Going away for the weekend, so got a nice 2 hour drive to get used to it this evening. Well worth the wait!

Car arrived at the dealer on Friday. Went in yesterday to sort out the rest of the paperwork & had a quick look at it, looks good & it was worth the wait! Picking it up next Friday

Spoke to the dealer who is expecting to receive it sometime this week, hoping I'll be picking it up next week The long wait is almost over!

This has never happened to me but it was featured on BBC's Watchdog programme a few weeks ago. Apparently it is something to do with the way the amount of fuel delivered is measured. The pump uses a pulser which rotates as the fuel is delivered & sends a signal to the computer which records this amount. The action of taking the nozzel from the petrol tank & placing it back in the holder can cause a change in pressure in the hose which pulls through a small amount of fuel into the hose. As petrol prices as so high this small amount of fuel can cause the price to increase by a penny, which is why people fill up to say £20 & then replace the nozzel, at which point they see the price increase to £20.01. Apparently this effect is within the pump tolerances set out by law. I'm certainly no expert in this but apparently this is the explanation given for this effect & it will only get worse as fuel prices increase. Doesn't really explain why it only seems to happen at certain petrol stations though, maybe their pumps are more sensitive?

Just rang the dealership & was told that my build week is provisionally booked in for the 3rd week of this month (although this is not confirmed & so is still subject to change). If all goes well they said they should get it mid November. Here's hoping all goes well! :think:

Yeah I like Alcantara, it was a pretty close choice between that & leather, but my wife prefers leather so that swung it in the end. They said they'd ring me with build week in a couple of weeks as well, I'll let u know when I find out. Just hope nothing goes on my current car until december!
