  1. Fin69, it's fine. The forum is for information sharing & owner's interests. 2. Air Conditioning + Brake fluid change £89. Just booked at my local Skoda dealership garage. Think it is good value, in case someone else would interested as well.
  3. Hi Guys, I have a little concern here. My normal summer tyres are 205 60 R15 91V . I have being use another set of winter tyres 195 65 R15 91T on second hand Audi wheels for last four winters. Recently notice that 91T, the speed symbol T has the permissible maximum speed of 190km/h. Check owners Manual that 1.2Tsi combi with 6 gears has a top speed of 191km/h. Although I never driven over 80mph, which is far far away from the top speed. But in theory car has a top speed which is 1km/h higher than 91T's permissible maximum speed. Is it legal to use these winter tyres, will it cause any insurance issue? Thanks in Advance
  4. xman, thanks for your reply. That's great price from dealer, will try my luck with local dealer. I do hear the noise of chain rattling intermittently as well.
  5. may I ask why change the Timing Chain, and how much you will pay dealer. driving 1.2tsi myself, timing chain maybe my next move.
  6. Hi my car is Skoda Octavia II 2005 1.6 FSI, standard and existing summer tyres are 205 60 R15. Currently runs on 195 65 R15 winter tyres. Feel 195 65 R15 is quite comfortable and softer, just wonder it is ok to change to use 195 65 R15 summer tyres as well, is this a MOT failure? Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks for the reply, will check Sachs and Bilstein brand. How about KYB, seems a little bit cheaper.
  8. Hi as title, my car is Skoda Ocativa II 2005 1.6 Fsi hatchback. Back in May, the MOT test advised that both the rear shock dust covers are dropped down, expect shocks will gone. Check all online parts website, like Euro Car Parts, Mister Auto, Micks Garage etc. All rear shock absorbers shown are all gas pressure types, but I do see oil leakage on one of mine. So not sure my ones are gas pressure or oil filled. Can anyone comfirm which type I have, where is best place to buy them. Thanks.
  9. just changed the gearbox oil at weekend, bought oil from dealer, tell them Reg no. and chasis no., 2L needed. Surprising cheap, around 6.5 pounds each. As Loft said, open fill plug first, them drain plug. Use a pump fill the box or a long hose somehow from top of engine bay. Then tight the plug at 35nm. My car is 05reg 1.6fsi 5 speed box, dealer says capacity 2L, I only drain 1.8L out. So contact local dealer, you will get capacity of box and right oil.
  10. Hi, got my 05Reg 1.6fsi hatchback for 7 months now, car runs fine. But there is no record for previous brake fluid change, although the colour of brake fluid still looks fresh yellow. Just decided to change it. Got 1L unopen ATE SL6 Dot 4 Brake Fluid in garage which regular used for my previous BMW E46, which great for ESP system. And local garage will charge half hour around 30 to change it. By the way, same as the ECP item http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_1.6_2005/p/car-accessories/engine-oils-and-car-fluids/auxiliary-fluids/brake-fluid/?524770042&0&cc5_179 Octavia got lots stuff like ABS+MBA+MSR+ASR, still not sure what are all of them. Will ATE SL6 Dot 4 Brake Fluid good to use in them as well? Anyone used SKoda dealers 45 pounds brake fluid service before? Any good? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi my car is 2005 Octavia 1.6FSI hatchback. Check service book, rear pads should be using the ones for 1KF system. Check some online sellers, some list the OEM parts No. as 1K0698451G, some list 1K0698451K. Is 1K0698451G same as 1K0698451K? Are they both can be used on my car, or they are type or dimension different. Thanks .
  12. Hi everyone, just get the information from owner, the A4 wheels are 7Jx15 ET45, are they ok on my Octavia MK2?
  13. Ok, that's something new for me. should I looking for 6J or 6.5J wheels?
  14. Hi current Audi wheels have 195 65 r15 tyres. so they are 195, less than my SKoda's 205 wheels. is that ok?
