Not too bad to do. I didnt have the rewind tool so i had to bodge one up

My front went a few weeks ago as well. Made a nice twang as i pulled out of the drive. Thought best to check them all and found a rear had gone as well - not sure how long it had been like it. Decided to just change them all and got 4 + 2 new top mounts form local auto factors. The springs were £30+vat each - they were kflex and said volkswagen beetle on them. As long as you have spring compressors the rears are easy to change. The fronts aren't bad but you need a deep ring spanner and 7mm allen key.

Just a thought but I had gears popping out and all i needed to do was adjust the linkage - a 5 minute job

Thanks all for your replies. I've only just got back from Skeggie and nothing's fallen off yet. I'll keep you posted about the outcome.

Hi, I recently had a creaking noise from the front of the car especially when going over speed bumps. I took it to a garage and they changed the front arb bushes. Everything seemed fine till about three days later when i got a dull clicking. I took it back and had the front drop links changed, which made no difference. I'm still getting the dul clicking over rough roads and when pulling away / braking. Any ideas please.
