  1. Managed to get myself a truckman top today, only meant 6hours of driving! It's one of the less common ones without windows but was a good price. Means I can now use the truck over winter. Got another shot of two funs together again.
  2. Hi, can anybody advise me please. I've got a 2001 fun, and am looking at new front wings, the truck appears to have the earlier type front end on as all trucks so do I need the early type wings or the later type which matches the year? Many thanks if you can help.
  3. Been having a go with a re dying kit today on the steering wheel. At the moment the verdict is still out. Each coat does seem to be getting a little better, probably would get a better finish spraying it on rather than with the supplied applicator sponge. Photos will follow once finished.
  4. One of the slightly irritating things was the original wheels had gone AWOL. All the sets that I managed to source were far too expensive, then these turned up on ebay fairly local to me. The seller was also a fun owner so I got a Shot of both trucks together as its not an everyday sight.
  5. When purchased the rear light was allready broken. I'm quite shocked that these have allready been made obsolete scince 2011. Luckily the truck came with a spare, so I switched it over. The slight rust on the tailgate will be delt with once I move into my new unit in the next few months.
  6. Here she is my 2001 Skoda fun. Allways regretted selling my 99 V reg one so when offered one as tidy a this i just had to buy it even if it did mean a trip into Scotland and back to get it. The plan is as and when time allows to slowly return it back to original.
  7. After stupidly selling my other fun - v74dsm I was offered LXA 36G by another forum member. 49k miles, the tidiest one i have seen for a very long time. Only downside is that involved a 680 mile round trip to collect. Registered July 2001. Came with 16" team dynamics black wheels and silver 15" 100+ silver ones. I've just yesterday collected a set of the original 13" yellow ones aswell. Just need to find a truck man top now. Plan on this one being a keeper.
  8. My insurance increased by £1 a year for making a windscreen claim. I thought the whole point of taking the speed awareness course things meant you don have to tell your insurance company? Also what happens if you're stopped by the gendarme in France and given a fixed penalty notice? Do you have to tell your insurance company about this as no points are issued?
  9. In the past with a no fault claim, I've gone and got a couple of quotes off expensive body shops then told the insurance company that if they paid me the chepest quote I'd sort it all out myself and draw a line under the matter, I.e no courtesy car and all future come back claims waived. They are normally very happy to accept this. Last time it was an old caviller worth about £600 tops that someone had run in the back of, the chepest quote was just under £800. Took me about an hour with a slide hammer and even reused the original bumper, and got a nice fat cheque in my pocket. Try it as most insurance companies are terrified of compensation claims etc.
  10. Made a big mistake selling the fun when I was strapped for cash, due to a promotion I'm now in the market for another but am struggling to find any at the moment, any one know to any for sale?
  11. What sort of mpg does the 1.6 give under sensible driving?, i get anything in the range of 50-55mpg with the 1.9d.
  12. September 1999 V reg, just aquired, probably going to drop a diesel in her, definatley going to respray her, might also keep the original wheels just for show and run some nice larger rims.
  13. The body on this isnt to bad, obviously the rear suspension turrets will need doing properly, one sill and rear arch needs patching slightly but overall not to bad.And the screen is 100% dry! The gearbox mount has sheared clean through, dropping the gearbox end so the engine has also suffered minor damage. I'm torn as to wether or not to drop the diesel in her. The bodys going to get a complete make over, but also cant decide wether or not to paint her in the original two tone yellow or just one tone, seen some that have had this done and really like original and modified, whats everyones opions on both matters? The Preg next to is allready a diesel, we reckon shes done over 240k (showing 207k but the clock was stopped for a while)- she still works hard for a living, but cant carry my kid and missus in her, hence the fun.
  14. Is it a dashboard out job to swap the loom? Theres nothing too major wrong with the engine, just needs a few parts but the gearbox mount has split and done some harm, i know i'm wierd but prefer how diesels runs. Am i right in thinking the diesel only uses the engine pump and non in the tank?
  15. Here she is, needs a bit of work, but the price was ok.
  16. Thankyou, what i think you are saying then is that i can either bypass everything, or fit the ignition switch, imboliser ring, and diesel controll unit etc out of the diesel donner?and then it should be just like the original.
  17. Thanks, would replacing the ignition switch and imboliser box off the doner vechicle into my pick up be sufficent or is it more difficult than that?
  18. Thank you for your feedback, with the imboliser is it built into the ignition barrel or to the fuel pump on the diesel, if so would i be able to simply fit a standard cut off solinoid or is it more complex, seeing the price that rough felicia cars can be picked up for i really do feel it will be worth carrying out the conversion.
  19. Hi the gearbox and engine has damage and ive also got a diesel allowance through work so really favour the swap, for the roads that i drive on the 1.9 d is adequete as allready have some use of a caddy version and am reasonably happy with performance compromise, so any advice would be appreciated.
  20. Hi, i was wondering if anyone can help me, i'm contemplating swapping the engine in my 1.6felicia petrol pickup to a diesel 1.9. Do they both use the same suspension, brakes etc? Also does the pickup use a hatchback or estate fuel tank, or are they both the same. Many thanks if you can give me any advice.
