  1. Well my 2006 TFSi vRS has eaten its first clutch after 117,000 miles. It is Stage One mapped - around 240bhp - and with no other engine mods and not planning anything else unless the engine goes bang! What options do I have for clutch kits apart from the normal Sachs or LUK. Obviously I am also going to replace the DMF at the same time to avoid any other problems down the line. The way I see it is the standard clutch has lasted since 50k with the Stage One map - so do I just put another standard setup in it? Always hear horror stories about so called 'uprated' clutch kits! Open to any suggestions or opinions people may have....
  2. Here is a link to the thread... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/index.php?/topic/273037-vRS-2%2E0T-FSI---Stuttering-at-idle-and-on-acceleration-up-to-2000-rpm%2E%2E%2E Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Look at my previous posts and find the one on the hesitation of my 2.0 TFSI VRS... Almost exactly the same issues as you are seeing, again was showing no fault codes. After lots of searching it was due to excess carbon build up in the intake valves.. There is pics and a full how to in that thread! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Would be great if people could read. The original poster has a MK1 not a MK2.. We all know the MK2's do it - hes simply asking if there a way it could be done on a MK1.....
  5. Ive been told by my local VAG specialist that the TFSI's do not run totally flat on idle and that all of them have a slight murmur... Even after the clean out I still get it on mine!
  6. I should take a look at my old thread below as you have exactly the same symptoms I had: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/273037-vrs-20t-fsi-stuttering-at-idle-and-on-acceleration-up-to-2000-rpm/ Turned out to be the inlet valves clogged up with carbon deposits which meant stripping the inlet manifold off and getting in there and doing a manual clean... VCDS scans don't show anything when this happens!
  7. No, sorry - £20 delivered is a fair price... Will put it on eBay shortly if no one is interested on here....
  8. Seafoam won't work, trust me. If they get to the point where the issues are being seen then it needs manual cleaning - take a look at the photos earlier in this thread of my intake valves! Baldy1926 - when it goes in get them to inspect the intake valves and manual clean them if required... At 88k you could easily have the same issue as me even thou yours in more severe. I also had rough running on idle and hesitation which was dramatically reduced once the manual clean had taken place. Think more and more VRS's are going to start seeing these problems as mileages reach around the 100k marker!
  9. Do you mean BWA engine? Don't think a BMA engine exists! Would be £35 delivered to Ireland, that would be an insured and signed for service which I would insist on. PM me if you are interested
  10. On bank holiday monday I took on the task of changing my air con condensor due to it failing on my 2006 Octavia vRS 2.0T. To complete this I had to remove the lock carrier/crash bar from the front of the car to be able to access the front of the rad pack. When it all went back on I lined it back up to the original 8 bolt holes where it had been placed previously (marked the position before removal) and for some reason the part of the bumper under the passenger side headlight is refusing to sit correctly and is probably about 5mm out which is leaving uneven looking gaps. The bonnet shuts and opens fine and the gap from the bonnet to the centre of the crash bar is spot on! One thing I did notice is that the bumper rail which runs under the passenger side headlight wasn't sitting flush on the lock carrier/crash bar like the other side so when the final bolts are being applied I think this is what is dragging the bumper down to its incorrect position. Any ideas how I could go about re-aligning it? Open to any suggestions!

  13. Hence why I don't let any tyre places touch my car - especially when it comes down to something like air con! Any person that has had the correct f-gas training should be able to find the leak easily - which just shows these guys obviously aren't trained correctly. My local VAG specialist found my leak in a matter of minutes by filling the system with Nitrogen and using a sniffer and was found to be the condensor housing had failed. Take it to Air Con specialist or an independent garage and get someone correctly training to look at it...
  14. I love the yellow vRS's - but again my other half would have to be convinced! Did they do a Yellow Pre-Facelift or is it a Facelift? I don't think they are any harder to sell tbh, its just there is less of them!
  15. I bought mine from here (Briskoda) - they do pop up every now and again for reasonable money. However, buying 2nd hand you don't get Ross Tech support - I believe it is £90 to re-register the lead to you and re-instate the support. I have found that the internet has the answer to pretty much everything you need to do in VCDS so the support isn't really needed!
  16. What it SAYS on the website and what they ACTUALLY do in those types of places is two different things! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. You've obviously seen my response in the other thread! I think mine is a bit of a rogue one if I am being honest to have all the spec - it was originally a company car so it must have been a manager with a budget to spend! I imagine close to 7k would get you a slightly newer one tbh, the estates seem to hold their money a little more than the hatch's but not too much! One thing I will sat is the Sat Nav in the 2006/2007 models is normally the MFD2 (old VW system) as is in mine isn't as all singing, all dancing as the Columbus (or MFD3) that was fitted in the later models - I find it does me absolutely fine thou and its never got me lost! Also it makes upgrading to a newer Nav a lot easier...
  18. Personally I try and use a local specialist for Air-Con issues and wouldn't touch any of the tyre places with a barge pole with their £30 deals. My local specialist only charges £35 and actual tells you what is going on - down to the point where he gives you a pair of UV goggles so you can see no leaks for yourself! Normally they don't put the UV die in to check for leaks, or any oil to lubricate the system (as both are expensive!) and just pump it up with refrigerant and off you go!
  19. I usually get around 26-28mpg round town depending on the length of the journey and around 35mpg on a run, compared to my last diesel (1.9 CDTi 150 Astra) which used to get around 37mpg around town and around 48mpg on a long run. Take into account the amount of money I spent fixing diesel engine related issues (EGR, Inlet Manifold, Early Failing DMF, Injectors etc) and the difference in the cost of fuel (around 5p per litre) the TFSI has actually worked out to be a cheaper to run car!
  20. Mine is an early MK2 vRS (early 2006) and had a vast majority of the options available to it - Jumbo Box, Maxidot, Xenons, Climate, Rear Electric Windows, Sat Nav and 18' Alloys - It really all depends how the first owner spec'ed it when they bought it! I did hang out for the right one thou, I wanted one with at minimum Xenons and Climate and they were pretty few and far between in the price range I was looking... Then when mine came up I was blown away with the bits it had on it for an early model! I bought mine in September 2012 for £4000 with 92k on the clock, near enough new tyres all round, cambelt just done and a full service history. Taking into account that was knocking on 2 years ago and the one you are looking I would be looking at paying £2-2.5k for it really....
