  1. The main reason why I'm thinking of getting a 1.2 TSI is cost, running cost and depreciation. A 1.2 tsi 90ps Fabia 2017 35.000km would cost me 8.500euro, Leon 1.2 tsi 6speed 110ps 2018 22.000km about 12.000euro, a Leon 1.5 tsi 2019 50000km about 15.000 euro. Also we have a new taxation system for cars in Sweden. Which would make the Fabia cost about 40euro/year and the 1.5 tsi about 200-300. I'm also considering a older fabia 2013 with the 1.2 tsi 8v with 45.000km for about 5.000 euro, but it's difficult to decide.. My plan is to also have a fun track car on the side, so this car will just be a cheap car :)
  2. Oh wow thats actually even better than what i had expected. What kind of speeds are you doing then? If i would go for the 1.2 TSI 110ps 6speed i would need to get a SEAT Leon, so it will be a bit bigger and heavier than a Fabia. Also ofc it would be about 2000-2500gbp more expensive.
  3. I'm looking to "downgrade" from my SEAT Leon Cupra to a more sensible and cheaper to run car. Currently im looking at the 90ps version of the Fabia because it is way more easy to find and also better priced. But i read that the consumption on motorways could severly suffer on the 90ps version due to the 5speed gearbox, compared to the 6speed, is this correct? What kind of mpg are you guys achieving with your 90ps and 110ps cars? Is there really a big diffrence? I usually do about 15000-20000km per year with my car and i would say that 50-60% is 110-120km/roads. Would i perhaps be better of with a 1.4 TDI or should a 90ps be fine? Any advice would be appreciated!
  4. Is this still available? Im interested in just the Vagbremtechnic kit if you would be OK with shipping it to Sweden, please send me a PM so that i dont miss it
  5. Consider yourself lucky.. In sweden DSG service costs around £300-350.. Thanks for the thread TS! Doing my oil change today so it will be very helpful.
  6. Thanks! I'm actually considering ordering the h & r and start there. It should be a huge improvement over stock suspension, which has also done about 70000miles.. It won't be ideal for track, but way better than stock at a decent price. Is there any large website where I can find suspension and performance parts for the Octavia?
  7. I thinking of trying to track my Octavia 1.8 TSI the summer 2018. But before i even think of bringing the car near a track i need to improve the handling of the car.. What would be the best thing to change/replace to improve the handling of the car? Coils? If so, what brand/model would be the most "bang for the buck"? Perhaps some bushings? Any advice would be highly appreciated since i have no real knowledge about the Octavia MK 2 platform and handling Also would it be able to get the chassi decently handling or is it a "dead-end" which would just cause me to spend money without getting any real performance from it.. Since i doesnt really weigh that much, in combination with the fact that the engine is quite pokey, it should be able to get it "trackable" if i just get better handling, less weight and then proper brake pads..
  8. Okay now the car have been fixed! It did happend to be an injector that was broken/stuck open. Is this a common problem? The workshop just replaced the broken injector, so should i replace the other 3 aswell or is that not needed?
  9. I will report back once the workshop has checked it out. However this is starting to make me question these cars reliability, since i have had the car for almost 2years and i have had 2 mayor incidents.. If there is something "minor" like a injector stuck open i assume it will still cost anywhere from 500euro for replacing just 1 injector to 1000-2000euro replacing all 4.. Thats the cheap option considering that if the chain has jumped a couple of tooths i guess it will be alot more expensive..
  10. Yeah several people told me it most likely is a stuck injector. After this happend i pulled over at once and it basicly only ran when i pulled onto the flatbed/towtruck and then at the workshop where i took it off the towtruck. Right now it is at my Skoda dealer which will be looking at it next week, however it would be interesting if i would be possible to "brace" for the upcoming bill.. However, if it would be the injector why would it cause the idle to be rough (like its on 2-3cyl) with no smoke out of the exhaust. But when i give it some gas there is ALOT of smoke coming out of the exhaust. If the injector would be stuck open, would it not be that all the time which also would cause some smoke at idle?
  11. Didn't save them I'm afraid. But misfire cyl 2 and 4, think it was p0304 and p0302. After initial reset and I let it run for a short while (10-20s) just p0304.
  12. Today i was driving from point A to B, just pottling around when the car suddenly started jerking in a corner. At first it just jerked in that corner but eventually it got worse in the upcoming 60second untill the CEL came on. I stopped the car and turned the ignition off, the CEL came back and it still ran like ****.. I then parked the car safely next to the road and pulled out my obd reader, the codes i found was related to missfires on cyl 2 and 4. After that i reset the error codes and swapped ignition coils on cyl 1 and 4 and tried again. The car now barely starts and the error code is still at cyl 4, so its not related to the coils.. Also once i started the car and pushed the pedal loads of smoke poured out of the exhaust pipes and the car sounded like a 2-3cyl car.. The exhaust smelled very badly from unburnt fuel.. I had to call a tow truck since i didnt want to drive the care anymore.. Right now it is situated at my dealer, but they wont have time to look at the car until earliest mid next week. The engine have been rebuilt by Skoda about 10000miles ago due to high oil consumption. Does anyone haev any idea on what the issue might be? I've done some googling and people are suggesting anything from injectors to bent valves or camchains that have jumped a tooth or two..
  13. Just a question for the people that are driving 245s or recently ordered one, do you all have families that you drive around in the cars? He Octavia is considered a "family" car and I love the looks of it, however I don't really need the space since I don't have any kids or plans or getting.. So are there any people here that mainly use the car alone or at least without it fully loaded?
  14. Thanks! Is the furthest position of the seat leather/alcantara or fabric? I still havent been able to locate a FL RS for a test drive or just to sit in it...
  15. Nice! Att interior shots? Is it a 245? How do you like it this far?
  16. Sorry but have no idea what you are talking about. If i would buy a brand new Octavia RS TSI today, in Sweden, i would only be able to get the 245. There are no other RS TSI available in Sweden. Before the 245 launch we had the 220 version, no 230 version have been available in Sweden to my knowledge. I was also just talking about actual figures in general, not looking at the exact specs. I find that newer cars very seldomly get worse fuel economy, as long as they use the same or similar engine. If that would always be the case, why are they spending money on updating and improving the car (except for emissions..)? But i do find it interesting that the new 245 engine likes fuel as much as it does.. I took a Golf GTI 245 for a test drive with the DSG. The GTI consumed about 9liter/100km on my test run, my current Octavia Mk 2 1.8 TSI tuned to 210hk makes the same run with just about 7,5-8liters/100km..
  17. Simpy because it is a "newer" engine, which in theory would equal lower fuel consumption.. Then you can also add the 7-speed gearbox VS the old 6-speed, which also should hopefully be worth something.. Even my M135 with around 400-450hp manages 0,72liter/10km if driven fairly gently on highways.
  18. Is the "boom-ing" applicable for both the estate and saloon or just one of them?
  19. Oh okay thanks! For my current BMW the DCC compatible suspension has just had a plug which you connect somewhere so that you dont get an error code when using struts which are not adaptive. Didnt realize there were real aftermarket suspension which were adaptive.
  20. Interesting that you fitted the KW suspension, but i assume the KW MUST be way better than DCC? Im actually thinking of skipping the DCC and just getting KW, since its the same money. Would you advice against it or is it a good idea to skip DCC for KW?
  21. Nice to see that the 230 can achieve nice MPG! I guess the 245 SHOULD be the same or even better? Ive just seen some early reports, but they seem to be quite low on the 245 :(
  22. What do you think of your Mk 3 FL RS 245? Have you had a earlier Mk3 or Mk2 before your current? Would be great to get your opinion on the general differences aswell changes in road noise in the cabin.
  23. Has anyone tried a Mk 2 and a MK 3? Would be great to have their opinion on road noise.. I did some googling and found out basicly the opposite to what i thought when i went for the test drive, which is alarming since i only took it for a short drive..
  24. Oh no it was like a 1.2 TSI or 1.4 TSI It was the only Octavia MK 3 FL, saloon they had in stock As in "quiet" i ment it in a good way since i was refering to road noise. I have quite alot of road noise in my MK 2 1.8 TSI at highway speeds. It seems like the MK 3 had quite alot less road noice in the cabin.. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just because of the tires?
  25. Yepp that seems to be standard in Sweden aswell! I really love that pattern they put into the new seats.. I test drove a "standard" Octavia today MK3 and found it to be ALOT quieter than my MK 2, is that to be expected? Or was i simply not driving it for as long?
