Here James May is scared out of his mind on Norwegian ice

Sandy Rogers, take a look at this: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=aUfiMoY30ac&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DaUfiMoY30ac&gl=NO

Don't worry about the speed, the road was dry and snow free. The ice cold weather here these days is due to wind blowing from Siberia, and it's going to last as far as the meteorologists are saying. Driving on snow is no sweat at all, as long as you know what you're doing. Meaning reduced speeds, caution and good winter tyres. I've been driving without studded tyres for years without any trouble. But during the few days in winter when the roads are sheer ice, you definitely don't want to go faster than jogging speed. Being outside these days require some serious clothing head to toe, or you can of course spend your time indoors :-) And of course no diesel engine that never heats up the car

16,5 celcius below yesterday, 21 at a friends house further up the valley. If anyone in southern Europe wants to trade places, I'm more than happy

Next time you go to Sweden, take the ferry to Denmark and then one to southern Norway. Then take a couple days to drive to your friends. But wait til the summer is here again. Enjoy :-)

Hi Bob. I did my army duty at Trandum, 12 months in 1980, and today I live 15 minutes away. If you haven't been back since then, I can tell you that there is no military activities there anymore, due to the main airport that opened in 1998. You will recognise the camp, but most of it is now just rotting away. This region is today the fastest growing in the country thanks to the airport. What used to be a ver quiet countryside, is now booming on all levels. Take a trip, it's worth it, even if its on the expensive side :-)

Then you should move here. Normally this first snow melts away in a couple of days, but several places in this country the winter will stay white from November through May. So if we're unlucky, or lucky in your case :-) we won't see the grass over the next six months -:(

Hi Stephen, I guess you're right on that. I don't know in your country, but here more and more young men drive fast cars. Whereas we (1970s) drove beetles, fiestas, amazonsn cortinas and such, they drive gtis and bmws with large engines. They're easily doing 150 km/h faster than our top speeds, and they have left their brains at home. Talked to a policeman this summer, he had stopped an 18year old boy doing 195 km/h in his old bmw 7 series. The police car was a Volvo v50, and it just barely kept up with the boy. Who, btw, had had his license for one week. The policeman said this is almost a common situation on our main highways, driving way to fast. In addition to that, there are regions in this country with hardly any people, and there young kids drive like maniacs. And sadly many of them crashes and die or are seriously injured for life.

I have talked with a lot of 4x4 owners over the years. Without exceptions they say it's much better than 2wd on difficult conditions. Especially the feeling of never having to worry anymore in advance as many drivers do during our winters. My brother has a merc ml. He's just so pleased with it and he knows nothing will stop him ever. But, all experts stress that such a heavy car has to have studded tyres due to make it stop fast enough on snow when the going gets tough. He agrees 100%. And he knows if he pushes it to much through corners, it's in the ditch the next second. That I've heard from several 4x4 drivers. I have driven Volvo 240 + 343, mercs with or without ESP, passat, renaults, toyotas, and several other 2wd cars over the years. There are three conditions to surviving winter roads with such cars. Tyres, what we call long breaking lengths (stay well behind the car in front if you), and a light right foot. So far so good, and until ten years ago 99,8% of all cars in Norway were 2wd. So unless you'll expect lots of snow for weeks in a row, forget 4x4 and spend the saved money on something else! Have a nice evening :-)

Great! Thank you so much :-)

looks exactly as this. Probably the smallest, cheapest model Skoda has. http://www.octinfo.com/largepic/octavia2/my/melody_cd.jpg

Thanks! What about the Skoda units, to they fit in other models? Sorry if the question looks lame, but I really have no idea about these things. Just want to swap my Blues radio with one with possibilities for an ipod and bluetooth (iphone), without having to pay 1000 £. Lots of secondhand VAG radioes here, but hardly any specifically for the Yeti.
-
Hi all, Anyone here who knows if all the VAG's radios/cd players/sat nav units fit other models than they're made for? Like, does an Audi radio fit in my Yeti?
-
Haha, didn't see that before now
