  1. Does anybody have a table that shows the final gear ratios of a 2010 1.4 TSI DSG7-speed ? Have googled around, but no luck.. 😕
  2. Update... I've just had a small 'jam session' with local dealer's spare part guy to find out how his (online) ETKA behaves compared to my (offline) ETKA. As test case we picked my vehicle and looked it up in ETKA via VIN and went into picture 920 which is the instrument cluster. * my offline ETKA shows all possible clusters for an Octy 2010, i.e. versions with km/h and mp/h, minidot, maxidot, diesel, petrol .... etc. I must figure out myself (via PR-codes) which version(s) are suitable for my car. * dealers online ETKA also shows all possible clusters - BUT it highlights the version fitted to my car by factory !! Conclusion #1: dealer's ETKA knows exactly what parts a particular vehicle (based on VIN) is built of due to being online with VAG main server. Conclusion #2: the confusion about overlapping build dates, hybrids etc. etc. is only a problem for us as 'hobby retrofitters' because we don't have an online ETKA.
  3. OMG.... tom164 and Atty; you're just adding fuel to the fire But I guess you're confirming what Ed already pointed out......
  4. Yes. Guy at local dealer pointed out it was same thing with the Octy I Tour which continued long time after Octy II was introduced. But at least in that particular case the model codes are different (1U and 1Z) ! I still can't figure out how they know what parts to order if they just have the VIN for a 2009 ..... ??!?????
  5. Chaos rules ! But then.... I wonder how the spare part guy finds out which part to order based on VIN ?!? The only thing VIN is used for in ETKA is to identify MY by looking at the 10th digit. Then ETKA shows all possible parts and usually a combination of build date and PR-codes would be used to determine if it's part A or B that should be ordered. As far as I understand the only bullet proof method in the case of an Octy MY2009 would be to have access to the car and look at the components it's built of !. But in many cases that won't be an option. When the garage orders parts for a repair it would be ridiculous to ask the customer to come by with the car so they can disassemble it in order to find out what's needed..... I don't get it ....... this is not the way VAG usually works
  6. Phoned spare parts dept. at local dealer. They confirmed that production of pre-FL and FL overlap. They couldn't tell exact "last build date" of pre-FL or "first build date" of FL. Conclusion must be that VIN doesn't provide an unambigous answer to whether it's a pre-FL or an FL in the case of MY2009 Octavia. Both will be model code 1Z and 10th digit will be a "9" in either case. Even knowing the exact build date of the vehicle doesn't guarantee to bring the answer, since it could be both if it's within the overlap period. Cool.....
  7. Of course. I just thought .... there are many enthusiasts in here. Someone might know this also..
  8. But according to octinfo.com (the writer is Hungarian) the first FL appeared at the local dealer on 18.12.2008: 18.12.2008. Finally arrives the firs facelifted Octavia 2 to one of the local dealers and I can examine it in real. So assembly of FL must have started already in 2008. And it's the build date of the first FL I'm trying to find... My theory is that when you say Octavia MY2009 it can be both pre-FL and FL. When you look up parts in ETKA it's vital to know the vehicles build date. But in this case I suspect that the build date doesn't clearly identify pre-FL or FL ...... if they were built in parallel.
  9. I'm trying to find some info about the cutover between pre-FL and FL. I found this (taken from www.octinfo.com) 30.09.2008. This is the last day when factory order can be placed on original Octavia 2. 01.10.2008. From this day factory order of Octavia is not possible until 6th October. It only says when factory orders can be placed. My question is about actual production date. Did actual production of pre-FL end on a certain date, and from that day on only FL was produced ..... or were pre-FL and FL produced in parallel for a period ? And if they weren't produced in parallel what's the cutover date ?
  10. @Tony: I'm trying to achieve the same thing with the rear lights on my Octavia. You wrote this on August 22nd. Has your friend done his experiment and is there a result to report? Thanks Hans
