  1. Just to update. Fabia sold today and is off to a new home. Thanks for all the interest.
  2. Because I want this to go to a Briskoda member and because I've been messed around locally, I'm dropping the price in hopes that it goes to a good home. £1950
  3. Hi all. Sorry for late reply. Haven't been able to log in. Yeah I'm based in Yeovil in Somerset.
  4. Reluctantly we have decided to sell Freddie the Fabia. Much loved car but am now going to use my old 309 as a daily so can't run the two cars. Details: 2005, '55 plate 114k miles 1.9TDi, BLT PD engine Remap with EGR delete. Gets amazing mpg on long motorway trips. Full service history. Lots of service work done inc Cambelt and recent Clutch/Dual mass MOT till Jan 2017 Comes from non smoking, no pets, no kids household. Really has been looked after and I really hope it goes to a good home! £1950
  5. Cheers guys. I fitted the egr delete kit that retains the asv. I then fitted the steel blanking plate onto the exhaust manifold with one of the original gaskets. Then I drained the water from the cooler and un-clipped the rubber pipes to remove the cooler. You can then remove one of the cooling pipes and connect the other one up to create a loop. Some places sell a pipe kit but its not worth spending the money as its possible to use the existing parts.
  6. Cool thanks guys. I think I'll go over it all again and re-check it. I'll also take the calipers off when I bleed them and tilt them so air can travel upwards and out. Was chatting to my friend at Skoda today and we checked the parts listing for the servo. Turns out Skoda updated the servo design of replacement units in 2012. Must have been a good reason for the change seeing as its technically an "old" model now?
  7. Yeah the cupra is cracking. There has to be an answer to this somewhere. I wonder if its a servo issue? Bet they're pricey though!
  8. Cheers guys. Pads have over 1000 miles on them now. Might have to look into air in abs unit. What's vcds? Some sort of vacuum bleeding tool? I've only bled the system the "old school" way with pipe, spanner and wife on foot pedal :-P There must be a way of making the pedal feel more pronounced like the Leon? Some part of the system must be the "spongy bit" ???
  9. Hi all, before anyone moans I've not used the search function, I have done, and its not answered my question. Just to start off, I think the brakes on my 55 plate vrs have gotten worse. I had to give my car to my wife to drive for about the last 8 months. Since then I've been driving daily in my pug 309. My wife has just bought an 03 seat leon cupra R so I've got my vrs back. Now, I know you can't easily cross compare the leon with its Brembos to the Fabia, but my question is about pedal FEEL. Now I'm back in the fabia, its brakes feel almost worse than my 309's!!! So I've done this list: Bled the brakes Changed the brake fluid and bled Changed the pads Deglazed the discs Changed the rear calipers (handbrake was sticky) and bled the brakes Changed the fluid again and bled Changed the master cylinder and bled... Am still left with poor brakes compared to how they used to feel. The cupra pedal moves about an inch and is "hard" The Fabia pedal moves halfway down before any "feel" comes back. If you maintain pressure, the pedal slowly sinks!!! There's no leak in the system and the car still stops and holds on the footbrake, but I can't understand how its gotten so bad? Does anyone else have any ideas?
  10. Has the gearbox gone? If not, what price would it be and how many miles does it have on it? Cheers mate.
  11. Hi all, Had problems last year before crimbo with the car not easily going into gear when weather and engine were cold. After some investigation I had the slave cylinder changed (along with clutch and flywheel as it made sense). Turns out the slave cylinder was leaking and not getting full travel. Ran it over xmas and it was loads better but gearbox still felt out of the norm, so we changed the fluids. Turns out the previous own had had the wrong oil put into the box and when drained lots of metal teeth and shards came out with it. Now its running fresh thin skoda spec oil its worse than ever, crunches almost every change between 1st and 2nd, and third in cold weather. Obviously replacement box is the best solution until I can find the time to repair the original box if its worth it. My question now is: I heard that there was a difference in 6th gear ratios around the late 05 to 06 years and I can't find the differences between codes using the search??? Does anyone know if there's any difference at all? Car is: 55 plate VRS with BLT engine. Cheers all.
  12. Sounds good guys. Will join the group and try and turn up to a meet!
  13. Are you sure? You're missing out on a bargain mate...
  14. Well I'm going to have to eat my words here. The service history only mentions the first cambelt change at 61k miles. So to reflect that I'll drop the price so a purchaser can factor in a new cambelt. Its a great car and I'll miss it but I really would like it to go fairly soon. How does £900 sound price wise?
  15. I've managed to temporarily misplace the service history. We've moved house and its in a box, somewhere... I know the cambelt was done between 90-100k before I bought the car and its in the service history. Will keep digging. Sorry for the delay!
  16. Clutch is great, have had no problems what so ever, Cambelt I will check on the service history and get back to you in a bit
