Thanks everyone, yep i'm really happy with her! Thanks Duncan, she's got quite a lot of extras so i was lucky with that, like you say its almost the next model up which is great for me! And yep, shes the 1.2, 3 cylinder 64 bhp. Ive had her nearly two weeks now and have just passed 600 miles, ive been good even though its nearly killed me to drive her 'steadily' as the dealer put it, but she's really nice to drive and i'm getting 49mpg which i'm very happy with compared to my old car and for a small engine when i put my foot down she seems to have a lot of 'go' too, i took her for her first trip to yorkshire for the new year weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the drive! :smrbow:

Lol i could basically have written the original posting myself, my fabia was 5 years old when the dash decided to start lighting up like the proverbial xmas tree with a nice variery of warning lights, it came to be more of a shock if i went a week without a light coming on! In the space of 8 months i had the power steering sensor replaced, the water pump replaced, the temperature sender replaced (twice!!) and numerous other bits and bobs done too! I think the poor thing got addicted to being wired into the garages diagnostic programme! Throughout it all i couldnt fault my dealer, it was out of warrenty of course so i had to pay for everything but they did their best to sort things and the customer service i got was great. To get back to the original question of whether it would put me off, well the fabia finally had to go so on december 20th 2006 she was traded in at the dealers for................... a brand spanking new skoda fabia - guess that answers that for me then! All cars can and do have probs but when i looked at the new cars out there, the skoda won hands down on its features and price and i dont regret going for another fabia for a second! :smrbow:

Thanks, i'm loving my new xmas prezzi! Yep, mine was the showroom version so it has a few nice extras but i think the air con and leccy windows are standard now and i'm looking forward to nice cold chocs from my air con glove box in the summer! I'm also enjoying the novelty of being able to bore all those around me by keeping them updated with the outside temperature/ my mpg/journey time etc thanks to the neat little trip computer but my favourite has to be the remote central locking and the fact that i can open the boot (which also has a light in it - i'm pleased by simple things!!) from the outside without having to open the drivers door and pull the release handle like in my old fabia! So far, although i've only had her a week, i cant fault her at all! She has all the features i'd expect from a much more expensive car and she drives like a dream - although i have to confess i'm finding it very difficult to drive her gently to break her in, she just feels like she wants to go! Ive tried to take a few pics but the weathers a tad dull at the moment so the colour isnt coming out as nice as it truely is, but metallic flamenco red in my humble opinion, is a stunning shade but maybe i'm a tad biased! I'm so chuffed with my new toy, she's definitely the best xmas prezzi i've ever had!

I had a fab xmas! Loads of prezzie but my best three have got to be.... (1) Having 5 wonderful days with my boyfriend (soppy i know - passing bucket for those in need!) :couple: (2) Spending an evening of total gluttony with a Thorntons chocolate fountain! :yummy: (3) A brand new Skoda Fabia! :smrbow:

Having spent much of the last 8 months as a pretty permanent fixture of the sevice dept at Underwoods while they tried to sort out numerous electrical probs with my 5 year old Fabia, i cant fault them! The staff are great, friendly and give fab service in my humble opinion. When i finally admitted defeat and looked for a new car, they gave me a great deal for my old car and i was the proud owner of my lovely new Fabia within a few days! They may not be big in dealership terms, but size isnt everything! I'd definitely recommend them! :):):)

Hi, its been a while since i was here and each time was to ask about yet another problem with my 5 year old fabia and her love of lighting up the warning lights on the dash, well i finally had to admit defeat when i figured out she'd spent more time in the dealers garage than in my own and she is now resting in piece somewhere quietly as after trying to be nice to her, i have now traded her in! I spent days traipsing round a variety of dealerships and sat in more cars than i have ever done in my life but after trying so many makes and models i found myself back at the trusty skoda dealer sitting in another fabia and fell in love with her, i think she's great, she's a fab colour - metallic flamenco red (typical girlie thing to mention i know, sorry!) has loads of great features not on my previous fabia (thanks to the plus pack put on at dealers cos she was the showroom model) and she was much better value for money than any other car with similar spec so i had to go for her! I took delivery of her just before xmas and have only just passed 100 miles on the clock but i'm totally loving it and am one happy skoda driver, she may not be flash, shes just the classic model, but she's perfect for me! So, to anyone thats not fallen asleep with boredom at the wafflings of an excited woman, i am now the very proud owner of a brand spanking new skoda fabia! I hope everyone had as happy a Christmas as i did and wish you all a wonderful new year with your skodas! :orb_blow_

Thanks guys, Yep, i guess youre right, at least the parts i have sorted now should last for a while, i'd not thought of it like that! I thought £36 was a lot for a diagnostic, and ive had 3 in as many months now!! Sadly i'm in the middle of nowhere in suffolk so garages with the right set up are a bit thin on the ground, i guess that means the main dealers can charge pretty much what they like to a captive audience! I'll give her a last chance then, other than her love of warning lights she's a lovely car, nice to drive and goes like a rocket without drinking too much petrol! Trufles xx

Aaaagh, i'm seriously losing patience with my fabia - i'm now thinking its time to call it a day as after having a power steering warning sensor and a temperature sensor both replaced within a month of each other (and each time having to pay the damn dealer

Having had the power steering sensor recently replaced on my 2001 fabia i am happy to report that the warning light for this has not been on once since - result! However, as cars are rather fond of games, i now have another warning light to ponder over on my dash! On turning the ignition on first thing in the morning, my water temp warning comes on - it buzzes and flashes furiously at me! It doesnt happen every time, and if i run the engine till its warm, turn it off and then on again the warning stays off! One thing i have noticed, it has only done this since the weather here in the south has improved - the hotter the morning, the more likely it is to happen! My garage says it could be sensor, thermostat or any number of things but as its so far, an intermittent problem with no definite set pattern of when it will happen they cant really suggest anything other than drive it and see what happens, and if the temp gauge rises over the norm to pull in! Has anyone else had this? Any ideas would be gratefully recieved!! Thanks all :smrbow:

Hi, Sorry, i have no answer to your prob but you are not alone as i can definitely relate to it! i have a 2001 fabia with similar boot mechanism and of late its become very hit and miss - i pull the lever and sometimes it opens, sometimes it doesnt! if i didnt know better i'd say it does it on purpose as it seems to delight in not opening when i have a boot full of frozen food or when trying to open it in public! There doesnt seem to be anything physically wrong with it and it's had no damage of any kind, i wonder if its just yet another part that wears with age? Sorry i couldnt help but maybe someone can give us both a hint about this!

well, so far so good, warning light not come on once so its deff worth having done in my opinion, for peace of mind if nothing else! might be my imagination, but having sensor and alt. belt done seems to make it run better too?!

has anyone had central locking fitted to a standard fabia? i love my car but the standard locking can be a pain, i'd love to have central locking fitted but local dealer quoted me a fortune for it, has anyone had it done, is it worth it? thanks :smrbow:

i just had my sensor replaced today and so far no more annoying warning light! local dealer did it (cos anything other than oil and water top ups is a tad beyond me i'm ashamed to say) had alt belt replaced too

Thanks, it was a worry cos i spend a lot of time in my car, i dont get it either but so long as its sorted i've given up trying to figure the mechanics logic out lol!! :smrbow:

Ok, my fabia was booked in for a dignostic at dealers but the day before i took it, my bf topped up the power steering fluid with a 'stop leek' fluid just in case and it was much better only coming on once on the 200 mile drive home as opposed to the 7 times on the drive there lol! it was a total pig to get at though, cunningly hidden under the battery so the car had to be partially dismantled just to get at that magic green lid! I took it to dealers and yes, its a faulty sensor which is being replaced next week for

Ive just been on my first long run in the skoda and on a 200 miles drive the power steering light came on 7 times, each time i pulled in, turned off engine and waited a mo, restarted engine and the light was off, for a while at least! One odd thing, light on or off, the steering didnt appear to be affected at all, it was as light as always so clearly the power steering was still working despite the warning light! My bf finally located the power steering fluid bottle after a hunt worthy of a medal (wow, its cunningly hidden isnt it!) and topped it up, it seems to have helped a bit but not cured the prob as on the return journey the light came on but only once, a definite improvement but i'd be happier if it didnt come on at all! Ive booked it in with the closest dealer i could find for a full diagnostic tomorrow so hopefully they will come up with a definitive answer! Thanks for your help

Hi, Ive a 2001 fabia 1.4 mpi, out of the blue as i was driving along the power steering warning light came on. i pulled over, turned engine off,waited a mo, turned on again and light had gone out, its not been on since. I called into garage on way home as it had a full service 2 weeks ago, mechanic told me it happens sometimes and not to worry about - difficult not to worry, surely a warning light is there for a reason? Anyone else had this, or have any suggestions what i should do - bearing in mind i'm a typical woman i'm afraid and therefore only know the very basics about what goes on under a car bonnet but am keen to learn! Its a 1.4 fabia classic in blue, not sure what to do with it yet but would like to make it my own somehow as its been my mums car for nearly 5 years. its in immaculate condition with low miles and i'm looking forward to getting it now!

Hi all, i'm new here and dont even have a skoda yet but i'm on a promise! i'm inherriting a 2001 fabia in a few weeks time, currently i'm in a nissan micra which my bf is wanting to see burt which is a tad harsh but quite fair!
