  1. I must admit, ACC in the 50mph roadworks on the M4 works ok, however....it does brake a bit sharpish rather than lifting off and cruising and gets a bit funny when a car overtakes slowly. I find myself intervening more than I should have to.
  2. Swapped to this 280 from an Octavia vRS almost a year ago. The vRS had sharper handling but the 280 is far better overall.
  3. Moon White Sportline 280 with black supernova wheels. Having owned a candy white Octavia vRS I agree the moon white is nicer!
  4. I have the black Supernovas. Fantastic alloys on the moon white Superb Sportline.
  5. I've recently upgraded from an Octy vRS DSG 220 to a Superb 280. Never looked back since. The Superb build quality and drive experience is way above the Octavia. Not as nimble (my vRS had Eibach springs) but th3 Superb is a much nicer drive overall and way faster, especially the extra grip with 4x4. The interior and extra tech makes it worth the upgrade.
  6. Brilliant! Thanks for the advice. That would have taken me weeks to figure out! You've got to love this forum.
  7. I've noticed that when the stereo volume is low or on mute there is a strange tinny echo in the cabin when you talk or even if rain drops hit the windscreen. My suspicion is that this is something to do with the columbus / canton noise cancellation. Has anyone else come across this and if so is there a way of reducing it or turning it off?
  8. I've recently upgraded from an Octavia vRS 220 TSI to a Superb Sportline 280 4x4 Estate (and it's very nice indeed!). The car was registered Sept 17 and has the newer Columbus 9.2" unit - however in the glove box the media unit does not have the SIM card slot in between the SD card slots. The user manual appears to indicate that there are 2 different versions of Columbus (one with the SIM and one without). Is this correct (something to do with the change over between model years?). If so, how does connectivity for Skoda Connect or the WLAN functionality work for example? Interestingly I have set up Skoda Connect (initially connecting to my home WifI) and the app appears to work fine (I can see where the car is parked, the last journey info, honk the horn / flash the lights etc). I assume the WLAN connectivity just requires pairing with a phone in the car?
  9. I paid £118 at a main dealers for my 1st service. 2nd service they tried to charge me £180 but this came down to £145 once I challenged what work they were actually doing. Not going back to the dealers for the 3rd service next year!
  10. If it helps your choice, I managed 41mpg yesterday on a 50 mile trip (M25 and some traffic) in my TSI DSG estate vRS. I wasn't taking it that easy either. It seems to have got better as a few miles have gone on it (now at 15k).
  11. Mine does it occasionally aswell (Columbus MIB1) - always comes back though!
  12. Full custom built exhaust it is then!
  13. Same here - managed closely the lift and coast works quite nicely on the commute, seems to provide a smoother drive and is starting to give a few more mpg. As you say, I have the weekend to have more fun in normal or sport mode!
  14. Has anyone actually done just a straight resonator delete? I remember a post on here a while ago where a member tried out a couple of different after market resonators (not just a simple resonator delete) and it sounded pretty good. I've had an approx cost quoted from Infinity Exhausts to replace the resonator of just £80 so I'm seriously considering this as a very cheap option for a more sportier sound - by comparison they also quoted by £380 for a full custom cat back stainless steel system which is also very tempting (less than half the price of a Miltek!)..... Food for thought.....
  15. This might be a silly question but I'll ask anyway..... Driving in ECO mode (with the DSG gearbox) allows the car to coast when you lift off the throttle and then re-engages the correct gear when you either hit the brake or the throttle again. If you drive around in ECO all the time (particularly on a normal commute with lots of stopping / starting etc), would this constant coasting / re-engaging gears wear out the clutch prematurely? I ask the question as I quite like the way the car drives in ECO on the daily commute (it's so busy that I have no opportunity for any spirited driving) but I'm slightly concerned that doing this all the time may wear out the clutch!
  16. Make sure you also get 4 wheel alignment done after fitting. Had mine done a few weeks ago - looks and handles great!
  17. I thought the standard vRS and vRS 230 were both 13mm lower than the standard Octavia? I can't find any 230 spec that says its 13mm lower than the standard vRS (happy to be proven wrong) - in which case a set of Eibachs would go on nicely!
  18. I was of the same opinion - why produce a "sporty" car and then make it look like it's on stilts. Try looking at the Eibach pro-Kit - lowers the front by 20mm and the back by 10mm. Makes the car look like it should have done when it left the factory marketed as a "sporty" car. It actually improves the ride a little, improves the handling nicely and still rides speed bumps perfectly well. Also, still allows you to load up the car with the kids, dog and camping gear. Standard suspension isn't going to save you from pot holes or from high kerbs if parking front end first!
  19. Do you need any special tools to open the airbox?
  20. Looks very nice - although a quick stage 1 remap and a milltek exhaust would be a much cheaper upgrade for my 220 DSG!!
  21. Not the best picture in the world but in answer to the questions: Yes it ride the bumps better and I'd say that comfort is unchanged. Rides the speed humps perfectly well as the lowering is quite sympathetic. I did it mostly to get rid of the "on stilts" look but it is also nicer to drive!
  22. £329 all in (although they held the price for me from 2016). I believe it might be about £40 more than that now. No pics I', afraid as I've not yet worked out how to link pics to this forum (and can't be @rsed to open a drop box account or whatever I need)!!
