Got the same set-up as you Rockhopper. Got the ratchet-strap ready-made off Ebay, they are sold as spare wheel fixings for rally cars etc, and are load-tested. Think Demon Tweeks do them. Paid about £15 for it.

The piece of steel box section you were given is the part they remove because it would be in the way, and gets replaced with the steel towbar that bolts through into the chassis.

You can remove the lower "skirt", cut out the opening that is marked inside and buy the two relevant parts that fit to the skirt that make up the quick-release cover. These two parts are £25.00 from Skoda dealer, if you buy the full skirt ready-cut and the hatch bits fitted it is £86.00. Took me ten minutes to cut mine and fit the parts.

The guy I spoke to at Northwest In Stockport seemed pretty clued up on the Yeti fitting, and knew all about the bumper cut-out etc. The extra loom for the caravan charging circuit etc is, I have read somewhere, over £100 extra, but can be run along side the standard front-to-rear towing loom so shouldn`t be a lot more labour charges. Not sure what needs painting, the bumper "skirt" is moulded in silver plastic, so when you cut the hatch out, the cut edges are still silver and don`t need paint. Knowing what I know now, I would ask the following questions to the prospective fitter. Are you fitting a complete Westfalia towbar ( ie OE) and wiring loom ? Will it be fitted in accordance with the Westfalia fitting guide, including every part being connected as recommended in that guide? If they cannot answer these questions, or don`t seem keen to answer, then I`d look elsewhere. The correct fitment for the OE wiring loom includes running cables through the engine firewall to a connection on the battery with a heavy-duty fuse (all included in the OE kit). Some fitters feel it is OK to get a live 12V feed from out the back of the fuse-box and use this as the new wiring loom feed, cutting the new Westfalia loom down to suit, cutting off the correct OE connectors that Westfalia put on there so they will just plug right into the Skoda connections. They do this to save them the trouble of having to find the grommet in the firewall (which is pictured in the Westfalia fitting guide so it`s easy to spot) and running the cable through it to the battery ! Lazy !

For info: I had a Westfalia detachable towbar, Westfalia wiring loom and towing module fitted last week (these are the exact parts that are supplied from Skoda dealers, and are classed as Original Equipment) The loom is the full front-to-back-loom, WITHOUT 12V supply for caravan battery charging, and connects to the cars wiring loom and plug connectors without any need for any wiring to be cut, and NO Scotchloks being used (any fitters using the commonly supplied NON-OE wiring loom, made by Right Connections, will be using Scotchloks to fit some of the wiring). The going rate for the Westfalia OE set-up, supplied and fitted by independant fitters, including mobile fitters, in my area and including the car re-coded to suit is £500 all done. As an example only, Northwest Towbars in Stockport, who can supply and fit the Westfalia towbar and loom charge £500, they do the towbar fitting for the local Skoda main dealer as well. The Westfalia towbar is available online for £200 and the Westfalia loom is available for £140 (£340 total) so the fitting and coding is costing you £160, which I think is worth the money due to the amount of work involved, and the re-coding. NOTE that you will need to buy the parts to fit to the cut-out in the bumper that will be made, to allow access to the quick-coupling part of the towbar. These parts are available from Skoda dealers for approx. £25, or you can buy, so I am told, the complete rear bumper "skirt" for around £86 ready done with the cut-out, frame and hatch ready fitted. Part numbers for the required Skoda parts, approx. £25.00 from main dealer (I used this Skoda dealer, mail order, very helpful parts department www.bickertonskoda.co.uk) BUMPER INFILL PANEL 5L6807499U34 approx. £17.00 CLIP-IN FRAME 5L6807518 approx. £8.00 (DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE FASTENS THIS PART, I used small nuts and bolts as well, hidden from view when fitted) Anyone wants to know who I would NOT use, after a recent experience, then PM me and I`ll tell you the tale.

Car is new. Definitely not able to display it, No option to tick anywhere.

Can`t see where it can be ticked to display it? Trawled the owners manual, and also been and played with the Maxidot display settings in the car, but can`t see it anywhere?

It must have been there all along then ! never noticed it before though ! Sorry Graham, picture pinched as a thumbnail off another post, it`s that little green square icon in the bottom right of the screen. Just don`t remember seeing it before

Mine is set to "variable servicing" according to the factory code sticker in the handbook, but I can`t see anything to do with oil temp in the Maxidot display options ?

Had a Westfalia towbar and westfalia loom fitted yesterday, including coding etc. Noticed that I`ve got a new icon on the Bolero screen when reversing and the screen showing rear sensor field. Bottom right of the screen is a button that disables the sound from the sensors if required. Is this the norm for other people after having twobar and wiring fitted? pic here (from another post in Superb section)

Listers at Exhall, very good experience buying a new car from them. I live 120 miles from them, but did deal over the phone and via email very efficiently. Got an agreed trade-in price unseen for my old car, subject to being as described obviously. All went smoothly on hand-over day and enough fuel in the tank to not worry about getting home. Reccomended.

As stated by others Graham, they don`t claim in the wording to NOT need the resistors, just NO error codes, which I don`t have so no International trade laws broken ! :think: I take it you don`t have the upgraded lights then?

Fitted the SuperSkoda lower grill cover today. 2 minute job, the clips just hook round two of the vertical ribs in the grill, mine were not tight to get on (note..they clip round and locate inside the middle of the rib, not right round it, maybe that is why previous poster found them tight to get on ?) then 2 screws through the cover and into the clips. Looks good, the engine warmed up noticably quicker on the way home from work tonight, 4 degrees outside, 3 miles stop / start and traffic lights and engine temp. around 80 on the dial. Went out again later, about 8 miles and the temp. needle staying rock solid on 90 degrees.

Mine came on Friday with no instructions, but had two resistors (gold alloy heat-sink type) and some Scotch-locks. Nothing else. Easy to fit but you`ll need the resistors.

They need resistors which are included, gold coloured alloy heat-sink type, just fitted a set of their latest DRLs to mine today, ten mins. work. NOTE that the LED array is pretty fragile the way it`s "glued" into the pronged plastic bulb holder, both mine broke free with very minimal persuasion while fitting them. I used some Araldite rapid to re-attach them, fitted and working fine now, no error codes
