  1. Hello vikkiric, did you ever get this solved. I'm in a similar position with one of my rear doors. The child locks are not engaged but neither the internal or external hande works. I don't know how to get the door card off especially as the back seat is in the way. I think this is an automatic MOT fail so can't even live with it. Thanks to anyone with info
  2. This is a timely thread. My 62 plate CR170 has just started doing the same. For the last couple of weeks, every few days the fan comes even on a short journey like this morning. A very gentle 5 mile drive to work, parked up and turned the engine off, the fan was on and stayed on. The engine hadn't even got to normal operating temperature. I had to turn the engine back on and then immediately off again for the fan to turn off. This is the 3rd or 4th time it's done this and the car hasn't driven in rain for weeks. Any more thoughts?
  3. If the car is up to a moderate 208bhp now, what more might you get after a DPF removal? What might you expect with just the DPF removal (pre remap)?
  4. Quick question. If Revo are VAG approved, will this mean the warranty isn't affected? £399 is a sweet price too.
  5. Can anyone tell me if Mk5 VW Golf Match 15" alloys will fit my 62 plate Octavia VRS. I want some winter wheels for next year and have seen 4 x with good tyres for sale at £180. Will they do the job. Thanks
  6. I have a 32gb card which is full. I found it easier to create sub-folders to make it easier to search. My top 4 folders are ARTISTS and BANDS / COMPILATION ALBUMS / CLASSICAL / MUSICALS and FILM SOUND TRACKS. Then in ARTISTS and BANDS I have sub folders such as A to D / E to I etc. Then in Subfolder A to D, artists such as, DAVID BOWIE, then inside DAVID BOWIE, I have further subfolders for each of his albums such as HUNKY DORY etc etc. I find it useful to make serching far easier. I used iTunes to make MP3's then keep copies for future use.
  7. Love or hate private plates, there is a great Reg No. for sale on regtransfers.co.uk if you have a 61 plate VRS. it's MY 61 VRS It's going for £679 There are a few other VRS plates too. Cheers
  8. Not sure whether it's normal or not. 300 miles on my new VRS 170 DSG and when I take my foot off the gas there is a little clunking noise. Is this normal or could it be something that needs tightening or something else. Any thoughts? I'm far from knowledgible about cars but is just feels like a loose drive shaft if there is such a thing on my car. Thanks Al Scott
  9. Just had a look at my manual and found this online version which I have copied as below. It doesn't give alot of advice for something so important. Also sems odd that the salesman gave me advice which may be incorrect.... re 4000revs which I thought was high but alot of people would just accept what the so-called expert / salesman tells you tells you. I think his words were something like "I'VE HAD LOADS OF THESE FROM NEW AND ALL MINE HAVE BEEN FINE DRIVING THEM THIS WAY" I think I'll air on the side of caution and keep the revs lower nearer to what abarth_1200 suggests. The engine has to be run in during the first 1 500 kilometres. Up to 1 000 kilometres – Do not drive faster than 3/4 of the mamimum speed of the gear in use, that is 3/4 of the maximum permissible engine speed. – Do not use full throttle. – Avoid high engine revolutions. – Do not tow a trailer. From 1 000 up to 1 500 kilometres – Increase the power output of the engine gradually up to the full speed of the gear engaged, that is up to the maximum permissible engine revolutions. During the first operating hours the engine has higher internal friction than later until all of the moving parts have harmonized. The driving style which you adopt during the first approx.1 500 kilometres plays a decisive part in the success of running in your car. You should not drive at unnecessarily high engine revolutions even after the running-in period is complete. The maximum permissible engine speed is marked by the beginning of the red zone on the scale of the revolutions counter. Shift up into the next higher gear on a vehicle fitted with manual gearbox before the red zone is reached. Extremely high engine revolutions are automatically governed, by the way. For a vehicle fitted with a manual gearbox the converse situation also applies: Do not drive at engine revolutions which are too low. Shift down as soon as the engine is no longer running smoothly.
  10. Thanks guys. I know I should read the handbook but you know how us blokes are with handbooks. Al
  11. Hi guys & gals, I've been looking and listening to you all for the last few weeks ever since I ordered my new Octavia VRS in DSG diesel. Anyhoo, I picked it up today and I couldn't be happier. It is in white, it has the full leather, spare wheel and rear parking sensors and I paid £19,000. I think that was a fairly good deal and they also threw in the paint and interior protection. The burning question is how should I run it in. I expect to keep it for at least 7 years and want to do it right. I asked the salesman and he said to keep it under 4000 revs for the fist couple of hundred miles as that is the danger time, then it would be fine to take it to the top after that? Is he right? Any other thoughts? Thanks for your help. AlScott in North Yorks
