  1. Hi Keith, It didn't start well I must admit. The car and I are friends for now. For all the vrs's problems..... I loved that car. Vicky
  2. All true! The car had 4 engines in 2 years!! The third blew up in a matter of weeks of being replaced!!! Despite all the problems my local garage were absolutely faultless. I can't help but wonder where the car is now (if it's still alive). It was an awesome car to drive and I'm envious of those who have one without problems.
  3. Hi, I've just logged on after months away from this forum and noticed my case has been the hot topic. No person should go through what I did and my case is completely relevant, the engine is still the same today as was in my 11 plate car. I wouldn't touch the VRS with a barge pole but my Monte Carlo is fine, albeit not as fun or fast to drive. Happy to offer help as I had issues with engine stamping (I didn't believe the story I was given). My 11 plate car is now on its 4th engine at only 2 years old!!!! I ended up becoming friends with the guy at the garage as a result of all my problems and he told me.
  4. Yes got the Monte Carlo now but that's had its problems!! Well remembered vrskeith. If I wasn't saving for a bigger house I'd bin off Skoda altogether and get something else!
  5. As someone who fought and won against Skoda.... Twice, you need to keep on at them! I rejected my car after it had 4 new engines in 2 years (they admitted there was a problem) so I'm happy to help you should you wish to do the same. If you are speaking to a woman called Kate.... Request someone else as she has no idea what she's talking about... She offered me an iPod connection by way of an apology for all the inconvenience. My head fell in to my hands as it's comes as standard on the car!
  6. Are you getting a new Fabia or just having yours rebuilt? I swapped my troublesome VRS for a Monte Carlo.
  7. Sometimes my iPod doesn't even register the iPod (it does it mid song too and says no mdi connection). As I've had the mdi unit replaced I think Skoda will blame my iPod even though its up to date software. Not sure what to do as I don't see why I should change my iPod for a new one when its as good as new?! Hopefully someone on here will have a solution.
  8. Hi, I'm currently having problems with my 13 plate Monte Carlo's iPod connection. I had a VRS 11 plate previously and whenever I got in the car the song I was last listening to continued, yet in this car it starts with the first song on the iPod every time. I believe this is a fault as my previous car was fine. Skoda have replaced the MDI unit but say my iPod might be the problem as they tested it with an iPhone and it was fine. My iPod is 4 years old and all the software is up to date. Can any one offer any advice or help? I'm fed up of hearing the Ace of Spades start up every time I get in the car!
  9. Mystic_monkeyman As someone who fought and won a replacement car after my vrs had 3 engines I'm happy to help you. I'm in the process of rejecting my replacement vehicle (for different issues). Drop me a message if you need some help.
  10. Yes!!! Had a faulty coolant the day after I picked it up!!! It now needs a new mdi unit and dashboard computer as I keep losing the petrol gauge!!! You couldn't make my bad luck up could you!!! The old VRS is up for sale at the garage...... No mention of its 4th engine in the advert though!!!!!! Hope yours is all going well.
  11. Yes!!!! I'm not having much luck with my new car..... So are Skoda drivers happy drivers..... Not in this house! :-)
  12. It's been 2 months since I got rid of the VRS and I've been told its now on its 4th engine!!!!! Seriously ...... for a car just shy of 2 years old!!!!
  13. My dad has got a new Monte Carlo and I've driven it a few times and I must say I really like it so I know what to expect. I will just have to get used to driving a manual again. I drove the vrs in lazy automatic mode.
  14. I had a problem with the oil after owning the car a few weeks (it was a 6 month old ex demo when I got it). I had oil tests straight away and a new engine put in after owning the vehicle 5 months. Nothing improved over the next few months and then I was offered an oil breather pipe. I then wrote to Skoda saying this was the final fix I was prepared to accept as my car had been in to the garage every 500 miles for tests for 11 months!! They couldn't be bothered to even write or discuss matters with me but thankfully my local dealer did all the communicating with them (and told them where to go when they said "would the customer like an ipod connector as a good will gesture"). My car didn't improve with the breather pipe either so I wrote to the garage rejecting the car as I can't afford to be stuck with a car drinking silly amounts of oil and have to keep going to the garage for checks. I planned to keep the car for about 10 years so I didn't fancy being stuck with a car riddled with problems that I couldn't sell so I put my sensible head on for once. I am awaiting delivery of a Fabia Monte Carlo (The Octavia VRS is too big for me, which was what I originally wanted). To say I was devastated I am giving up the best car I have ever driven or owned would be a understatement. However despite the problems this hasn't tarnished my views on owning a Skoda and I would definitely own one again (this being my second vrs as I owned the mark 1 version from new). I wish there was a cure.... or maybe I should have driven it like I had stolen it to get rid of the problems.
