  1. cheers johnboy - at least i should recognise a lot of the switches
  2. After a fair bit of humming & hawwing I have decided to replace the Octavia Estate. Purchased new in Sep12 after leasing two for previous 6 and a bit years (L&K diesel, then Elegance tsi) The SE+ tsi has had a few niggles which were never experienced with the leased models. These included - sat nav was out of date despite car being new and skoda & dealer still unable to resolve. wind noise coming in through front grill resulted in 2 trips to dealer to fix Car was 13 months old when someone hit me side on - despite being repaired I kinda lost a bit of faith and confidence in the car, especially when a bit of paint came off new door and SWMBO complained of wind noise when sat in back. Final straw was a fault with the (already obsolete) sat nav - displaying that I was stranded somewhere in darkest Lanarkshire. Ironically it seems to have rectified itself while in getting a scratch painted (suspect the power wash might have reset the antennae ) I now understand those who speak of a friday afternoon or monday morning motor... Anyways, ordered a VW Tiguan which will hopefully arrive at end of May, early June.
  3. I've had an old 1.9 TDI and now on my 2nd 1.4 TSI, all from new, all estates and the three cars have all done this. Together with the amount of time the blowers take to start blowing hot its my main gripe with the Octavia - heater and blowers based on a smaller model e.g. VW golf?. You would think by now that I'd just leave the house 5 minutes earlier...
  4. I had a try at this but gave up as there was no way of determining what version I was downloading i.e. I may spend 6 hours downloading a version that is not any newer than the one I already have (which was out of date when I purchased the car new 13 months ago)
  5. Managed a pic, looks initially like it's the door however the frame is also dented and raised on inside step- both around jacking point.
  6. I got side shunted this evening. Rear offside door is mangled and a dent to body of car below. Unable to check underneath. Unable to post pics yet as its a monsoon here! Car was only a year old a few weeks back :( Other driver claimed responsibility at the time, but no witnesses
  7. And mine, always lock twice now with remote which deactivates the interior sensor.
  8. Cheers Paul - I'm now confused by the candy black grill tho :| Is it candy white?
  9. Hope it works out for you stormchaser - IMHO no way you should foot bill if you are parked correctly and in an area where you have for some time without issue. With regards the H&S issues - there's a lot of assuming going on on this thread. People jumping to conclusions about the force used to move the drum and the injury it would have caused, also assuming that a person would react similarly to a stationary vehicle!
  10. Depends what you mean by parking - doesn't look like a car park from the pics that stormchaser has posted. Stormchaser also states that car usually parked there so employer would need to prove that it was inappropriate area and he had been advised of this/ Not really a H&S issue IMO but definitely a liability one,
  11. Dont know, but as a betting man I would put my money on no. Certainly a random question tho...
  12. Couldnt comment on Durham ed209, however they do here - used to be Strathclyde, now police Scotland. Its either income generation or hitting targets.Might be both I suppose Obviously its wrapped up and packaged as a road safety campaign but FFS, 4 weeks in the one area. The annoying thing was that many were in the old favourites, brow of hill, hiding under flyover but not actually a "blackspot" for accidents. Maybe I'm just a cynic...
  13. My daughter shouts out "yellow car" and punches my arm every time she sees one - so please go grey
