  1. I just put another litre into mine at the weekend. This is the 2nd litre in 20,000 miles. Going by what some go you guys have said that seems pretty good. I had the breather mod done around the 8,000 mile mark and this is the first I've had to top it up since then. Skoda did the consumption test described above and were slightly coy about what they found. This was done in Spain where I bought the car. Since then I've moved to England. The oil sprayers upgrade might help tie up the last of the consumption. I will take it to the dealer soon to enquire about that. Thanks guys!
  2. Hi Guys, A few weeks ago in France someone nudged into the back of my 2012 mk2 vRS (green) and left a nice crease in the back bumper. Feeling sorry for the guy, being in a foreign country and in a rush to get back to the UK (and having nudged people in the past myself), I told him to forget about it. I was wondering if anyone knows somewhere to pick up a cheap rear bumper in the UK. Also, if I find a green one what are the chances it would go on without needing a respray? Assuming I get one and it doesn't need painting are they easy to swap out yourself? The boot, lights etc etc are all fine, its just minor cosmetics and you can hardly see it but the plastic is rubbing the edge of the boot lid slightly and I don't want it removing the paint there. Cheers James
  3. Hi Guys, I'm bringing my mk2 VRS back from Spain and I need to get the IVA certificate. The main things I was told I would need to change are the speedo (km/h to mp/h) and the dip on the headlights (reverse the order for the UK roads). I've found some salvaged mp/h + km/h speedo binnacles on ebay for ~£80. Is it easy to put in the new one or do I need to have the speedo + tach calibrated? Is there anything else I need to do before going for the IVA test? The car is only 1.5 years old and should fly through a normal MOT type inspection. Cheers James
  4. Thanks for all the advice guys, the car is up for sale here at the minute. Just wondering if I can't sell it before leaving if the change would be possible. After reading the advice its probably not worth it. If I can't sell it i'll just bring it over and drive it there until it dies which won't be such a bad thing I think.
  5. Hi Guys, I have a strange question. I bought a Fabia VRS in Spain in Nov 2012 and just got a new job in the UK. I love the car and want to take it back with me. It's left hand drive and while this doesn't bother me so much I was wondering if a conversion to right hand drive is possible? It's more for my wife and insurance etc. I know the car is made with the steering wheel on both sides but I'm not sure what the change would require if possible (except a new dash etc). The reason I ask is, if I sell it here I'll lose a ton of money (probably enough to cover the conversion cost), then I'll have no car when I arrive in the UK. If it is possible I am sure I can source a dash etc second hand in the UK. Any thoughts would be great, Cheers James
  6. cheers everyone, I'll shop around and see what I can find on the models suggested.
  7. Hi, What is the general opinion on tyres for the Fabia vRS mk 2. I've had mine just over 1 year and have a few thousand km left on my first set (Dunlops, I forget the model). I'd like to have a look for some replacements now as some tyre places are having a sale here. Cheers James
  8. Thanks, I'll take it down and have it topped up in the morning first thing. What is the recommended oil for this motor? Just so I can check what they put in it and so I can by some for later. Cheers James
  9. Hi Guys, Today I got my first check oil level warning. I checked it with the car hot just after driving home (slowly) and the oil level just about covers the orange ball on the end of the dip stick. The car is a 2012 VRS and has done 9000km. Is this normal? I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to take it to the garage to get the right oil. Luckily its only a few mins away. I had previously been checking the oil every time I washed the car but haven't in a month or two. What the right procedure for checking it. Should the car be running and up to temperature or cold? I can't believe how quickly it's gone through the oil! Cheers James
  10. I have the same thing. I just press the plastic screen in the bottom left and it goes away. Not worth a trip to the dealers.
  11. I feel the same in my vrs. It's only 4 months old so I'd assume the mounts etc are fine (although I've not checked). It's only noticeable in the morning first thing. I'll have the dealer check it next time I'm down there.
  12. Hi Guys, Dexter, I just had a look on ebay at the link and seat covers look pretty ropy in the photo. Do they look better in real life? I just ordered some Phillips Xtreme Vision H7's from amazon, thanks very much for the tips. Cheers James
  13. Hi Guys, I recently got a 2012 Fabia vRS and want to get some small things for it. I have a 9 month old son who enjoys smushing biscuit everywhere and so far only his seat has been sacrificed. I'd like to get a set of seat covers. Ideally for all the seats to keep them in good condition. Can anyone suggest a set of covers? I was thinking of going to the dealer but no doubt they will be much more expensive than getting them online. Also I have the 4 LED day running lights on my car which give a nice white glow. The head lights however are fairly feeble and seem to clash somewhat with the colour of the LEDs (anal I know). Can anyone suggest some matching headlight bulbs that I can get to make the two sets the same and the head lights a bit brighter. I live out of town and some extra light would be good with all the bends around here. Cheers James
  14. Date of registration: Nov 2012 Colour: Green Options fitted: Black roof, all black alloys, LED day running lights, etc etc. Photo(see attached) Hi Guys, I picked up el diablo verde about 2 months ago and have loved every second in it. Where I live there are only about two of these cars on the island (so far), I have one and my friend the other (red vas combi). The local spanish guys here always want to race me in their ****ty saxo vtr's and stillo abarths. It feels good leaving them wondering wtf they just tried to race :-D Briskoda.net is brilliant for tips on maintenance etc, keep up the good work! Cheers James
  15. Hi, A few weeks ago I pick up my brand new Fabia VRS mk2 from the dealer and I could not be happier. I've been scrolling through briskoda.net since signing on the dotted line a couple of weeks before collection. What a great website, tonnes of useful info and lots of nice looking motors! Cheers James
