  1. I'm about to chuck my mobius into the bin TBH - Whenever I go on anything over 45 mins it stops recording and just shows a solid red light, turning it off and on again does nothing........ I'm now on my 7th SD card and it always does the same - no use to me like this at all........ gone through all the setting and all appears OK. Delete everything off the card, format it, and nothing.................... yes - I have updated to v3 to see if that did anything, but no........... loop recording is on - yes............ Now with yet another new card, formatted in the settings screen all it shows is the solid red light. take it off the PC and try to charge it up at a mains socket, - nothing, won't even show any flashing lights........... Getting completely p***ed off with it now - I want something reliable all the time, even more so on longer trips, so time for the bin and get something else I think.............
  2. Got cruise on my VRS as standard - had the car for year and a half now, never used the cruise once - really don't see any point in it............. I'm more than capable of driving within speed limits in average speed sections on motorway/dual carriageways..... it's not exactly difficult is it! Unless your an old biddy/git who has limited driving skills, they are a pointless waste of electronics as far as I am concerned.......... but I accept that some drivers have varying skill levels and aren't capable of driving on a road without some assistance... Going to duck behind the sofa now..................
  3. Got Cruise on my VRS, first car I've ever had with one, but after a year and a half of ownership I've never used it once.............. never found any need for it, I only use the motorway once or twice a month or so a bit pointless for my daily commute. I can easily get 45+ mpg on the motorway (when I do use it) using my own skills, got 47.2 mpg not that long ago (posted a thread about it on here), and that's at 65-75mph all the way, so nice to have in the car, but a bit of a wasted thing on me......... For those worrying about mobile speed cameras - use a Road Angel - not had a single worry since I got one of those some 8 years ago.......
  4. Always planned to keep mine on till Easter, then look at what's forecast before I do anything... Frost on my windscreen for the last two mornings, warmer in the afternoons, but still ruddy freezing in the mornings, so no way am I taking the winters off till Easter!
  5. I didn't use to worry about what watch I had as long as it worked, but as I've got older I have started to appreciate some of the better ones, have got a couple of nice Tissot's which I'm very happy with - might look out for something else in 2014, but depends on how the finances are at the time.....
  6. Bought my Mobius a few weeks ago - love it......... when I remember to take the lens cap off............ Haven't got mine on the left side though - using mine on the right with the windscreen sucker, close to the mirror as I can without going on the "dotty stuff"..... means I can easily see when the red light is flashing when driving... the unit is far enough up to be out of my line of sight so no problems at all for me.... When I finally get round to tinting the rears windows it will be even higher once I get an internal sunscreen applied at the same time and then I can mount it over the "dotty stuff" with impunity............. and will hide the tell tale sign of something on the inside screen that the urchins look for...........
  7. I've used them a couple of times now for work on the VRS and they have done a great job - the tube station is only a few minutes walk away and I can go of to work after dropping the car off, and pick it up afterwards to go home, so far that plan has worked well and I'm very happy with the work they did. The staff that I have met all seem to know there job and I have no problem with using them again.
  8. I have one on my VRS - Bought it from the DVLA 6 years ago to go onto my Scoob (it's quite a relevant number for a Scoob) but when I finally sold the Scoob a year ago, I couldn't part with the number, so I kept it on retention with the idea of putting it back to another Scoob at some point in the future, but I love it so much, I had it put onto my VRS.......... I still go to the Scoob Car Club meets, and I still get comments about the number, even more so now as it's on a VRS!
  9. You popped to Harlow then?............ Not many VRS's here, so no doubt you made a few people envious as you got to wherever you were going....
  10. Thanks for all the comments - seems that I did a good 'un! Got a trip to Yorkshire & back at the end of the month, won't be miss daisy going up as I have to be their early, but coming back the following day I might as well try to beat it.... won't be in a rush, if I manage it I will post the results...
  11. Trust me - it was a one off............ VRS isn't meant to be driven like miss daisy.... it was only 'cos I had plenty of time and in no rush to get to where I was going.... coming back however, was a different matter...
  12. Set it all to zero before I set off...........
  13. Musings of a mad drive on the M25.......... I don't know why I did it............. honestly.......... I don't............ I wouldn't normally, but for once I just couldn't resist it.... I got goaded into it - honest! Friends of mine said - "go on - do it" - you will be really surprised how much you like it... you will want to do it again and again............... So - last night I finally went and did it................... What you might ask? I drove my 2011 Octavia VRS sensibly............... I did... really.... For god's sake though - don't tell anyone about it though - otherwise my reputation is gonna be ruined.... There has been a recent thread on here wondering what MPG people got from their VRS's and as I was going round the northern section of the M25 last night, and I knew that there was a 9½ mile section of 50mph average speed cameras on the route - I decided to leave a bit earlier and see what I could get out of the old beast being sensible for a change............. (Petrol, Manual By the way) - especially as I had never done this since I bought the old girl 10 months ago.............. So, off I went, keeping to 65-75 all the way from Harlow to just past the M3 (with the 9½ mile bit at 50mph) - ONLY using my right foot, NOT the cruise control, and to my amazement when I pulled off the M25 I checked the "average consumption" thingy on the dash computer, I found after 60.9 miles I had managed to get 47.2 mpg from the old girl..... Gobsmacked is one way to describe that... Damned hard to do that though - by that I mean keeping my "enthusiastic" tendencies at bay..... but it was an interesting exercise to see what "could" be attained if I really wanted to........... However, I didn't buy a VRS to pussy foot it around........... and I came back a tad faster... But hopefully this thread should prove slightly entertaining for someone to read, in which case I have done my job........... Proof... By the way.......
  14. Tried a DSG at a Skoda Dealer not too far from me before I eventually bought a manual Octavia VRS - why? - didn't like the DSG one bit I'm afraid - felt like an OAP driving it..... clumsy, clunky changes in "Normal", in "Sport" little control over what I wanted it to do and caught me out a few times when I was expecting it to change up and it didn't....... then when it didn't change down when I expected it to I almost ended up rear ending a caravan.... wasn't impressed at all - was expecting a lot more with all the positive reviews that abound.... when I asked the Salesman what was wrong with it - he said said, "they are all like this" - then took a manual VRS out, and what a difference! - gear changes at the exact point I wanted, braking great, heel and toe excellent - no contest as far as I'm concerned... I do little town driving so really can't ever see me ever getting one in the future...... to me the DSG is just a mediocre automatic with slightly faster changes than the rest of the automatic gearbox cars out there (but even then, the rest are fast catching up) - OK if your'e a pensioner or do lots of heavy town traffic driving, but if you like proper control of the cars handling/performance, then for me it's manual gearbox all the way............
