  1. Evening Guys, I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on the below with me, I am not sure if I am being picky, or If I should expect better from Skoda. To cut a long story short - I purchased my VrS from new, just over 2 years ago. In that time I have racked up 65,000 miles of business journeys - however - I have also been plagued with issue after issue. Within 20,000 miles of owning the car, the car has been in and out of the garage more times then I can count. A turbo blew on around 21,000 miles requireing a replacement under warrenty. DPF issues caused exhaust failure, requireing a replacement exhaust system, again under warrenty. DPF issues continued requireing 5 more trips to the garage. Out of the 2 years I have had it, the car has spend 2 months in the garage being worked on. This was all bad enough, however, the DPF issues continued along with repeat garage vists. On each occasions the garage has run diagnostics with no problems found. Then last week, driving at 40mph on the m25, the car went straight into limp mode, requiring a tow. Having got the car back to the garage, another turbo has failed. The garage were insistant that, despite my now 67,000 miles and 26 months of ownership, as this was a repeat historical issue, it would be a warrenty job. They completed the work, at which point, the after sales manager called me and stated Skoda wont honour the warrenty as the cars out of the time frame, and I owed just shy of £2,000!!!! I remained calm, explained the situation, the garage spoke to skoda, and this bill was reduced to £500. ( I must note, I dont hold the garage in any way accountable ). My argument is, I dont feel I should pay a penny, these issues have been on going and the car has not been fit for purpose.Unfortunatly, I have been incredibly dissapointed, and am now shocked that a repeat issue has cost me £500 ( particulary when my finance runs out in 2 months and the car is returned ). I can't understand why my car has been plagued my issues, and I don't believe that the initial problems were ever ironed out, hence the continuous repeat problems! I will be writing to Skoda to express my feelings, however, would be interested to hear your thoughts. Am I within my rights to expect a refund? Or should I be swallowing the £500? If this was the first issue I had had I would be happy to pay no question, as I accept these things happen. But its the repeat nature of 2 blown turbos and continuos DPF issues over 45,000 miles which concern me. Thanks all, James
  2. Just put a set of the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on my vRS - very impressed. Loads of grip. Knock spots off the contis that were originally specced!
  3. Im on 31k miles in my CR170 VRS. No issues at all - other then a blown turbo which was replaced! Still incredibly happy with it.
  4. Sorry my bad! Was late and didn't read the title properly!
  5. I have had my CR mapped by Will at P-Torque. Very very impressed. See below. On my own going on business trips of around 200 miles I average about 53mpg at 70mph. Defo worth doing. http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/common-rail-remap-p-torque-review/137461/
  6. Well the saga continues.... and I'm starting to get a little p*******d off now! Turbo has been changed, all hoses have been changed and a new DPF has been fitted. However, the garage are having huge issues reseting the system to get it out of engine management mode. They have had various codes sent across from Skoda and none of them are working. They have never had this issue on the PD cars, but mine is the first common rail unit they have dealt with. Anyone else heard of issues when resetting the system out of engine management mode?
  7. Good stuff There's no way they'll reflash the ECU - I know them in there pretty well, and they know I'd kill em! And for anyone else whose interested with remaps and warrenty issues - it turns out that when performing system checks, the first thing the dealer software does is check for mechanical issues. If the system flashes up with such issues the dealer can stop the checks and warrenty the car from there. Only if they software was to flash up ECU fault might you then have some issues. If its a friendly dealer warrenty need not be such a huge issue when mapping.
  8. Well am still waiting to get the car back. Firstly the turbo arrived from Skoda - and believe it or not, it had apparently been assembled back to front ( or they ordered the wrong one ) They ordered another, it arrived, fitted. Then they couldn't regenerate the original DPF - so have now ordered a new one of those. They are aware of my map - and wont remove it. However, quick question - if the battery is disconnected for a certain amount of time - does the ECU wipe the map? Bloody hope not!
  9. I think it all comes down to conveniance, distances you travel to ride, and how often! I race Downhill, and carry bikes up to 47lb in weight and £5k each. I had a detachable swan neck tow bar fitted and use a custom pendle bike rack - Pendle Bike Racks, Bike Carriers, Cycle Carriers, Bike Trailers, Cycle Stands, Sheffield Stands and Tandem Racks1 They are seriously good racks - failing that option - go for one of these Strap on Wheel Support Rack
  10. Amazes me how underwhelmed people are with their maps - I have to say, I've been incredibly impressed with mine!
  11. P Torque did my CR - 26k miles on and no Clutch issues at all. Fantastic map!
  12. Back on Friday - I cant wait! Never realised I would miss the car so much - have had a 1.5 courtesy car and its like surfing a slug! Had been considering an A5 3.0tdi Quattro - but am definatly putting that off, just want to get back in the Octy! I am actually wondering if there are any other mods I can look to do?!?! Any suggestions?
  13. Andy, spoke to Will - he hasn't had any issues with any of his cars. Garage has confirmed that the turbo blew, which then caused the DPF issues - they have also confirmed that this had nothing to do with the remap at all, and was purely unlucky! They have replaced under warrenty
  14. Thats interesting - thanks for letting me know mate. Really does sound incredibly similar. There working on my car this morning - so hopefully Ill have some more information soon.
